Maintenance slipping
Have not played here since 2011. I was surprised by the mulch left on the fairways. Additionally, I had to fix 4 o 5 ballmarks on each green, which I considered excessive for the sparse play for the day(can't fault course for that, simply the clientele).
Colours used on tee boxes could also be improved. The blue tee appeared grey, and the silver tee my wife was using was indicated as red on the GPS, causing some confusion for us on the first tee.
Rather surprising that this course doesn't have an official slope and rating, so could not enter my score.
Overall, good layout, but quite obvious there is some need to pay attention to details.
Very Nice course but Slow Play
The course was in fairly good shape for the dry weather we have been having but the pace of play was very slow. It took over 5 hours to play round. It is the only critic i have of the course. I think a marshal should have been enforcing a faster pace of play.
I agree. See my comment from 09/18/2016

Great Experience
My wife and I played and had a great day. The staff was extremely friendly, which hasn't always been the case. The course was in great condition and the greens were rolling very true. I can't wait to return for another round.
Hi Macedog40,
Thank you for choosing Forest City! We strive for excellent customer service and are thrilled to hear that you had a great experience here! We look forward to having you and your wife back for another round!
Great course
Really enjoy this course. The fairways were a bit beat up but likely due to the lack of rain. The greens were rolling nicely.
Hi Mehdi2816095,
Thank you for choosing Forest City. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your round here! We hope to have you back again soon!
Favorite
Love this course, layout, challenge, shape, undulating green, green speed, bunkers soft, new carts etc etc...
Hi Reinerfortyniner,
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your round here at Forest City National. We hope you join us again soon for your next round.
Not Your Average Muni
This course has an excellent property, and is an excellent layout. It challenges players of all levels and offers consistent green speeds. After playing we enjoyed a nice meal in the clubhouse, received excellent service from a very pleasant server. A day well spent at a venue which I would highly recommend to anyone.
Hi Craig2854981,
We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed our course layout and conditions as well as our friendly staff. We hope to see you back again soon for your next round!
Great course, Staff lack knowledge
The course it self was in amazing shape and the greens were soft and the tee decks were amazing. I only played 9 holes and when I called in and asked to play 9 holes they said ya no problem, I then called back the next day to check what the price was and she had to put me on hold to get a rate for me, when she returned on the phone she said we actually don't have a 9 hole rate, so I talked to the pro and he then gave me proper rate. The staff was also very unfriendly and I would not return just due to the fact the staff was not nice to me and my group.
Would return
Had seen the course before online and thought while we were playing in the area we would give it a try and we are glad we did. Third group off in the morning, so pace was really good. Holes were challenging and had various tee boxes depending on your handicap. Would play it again.
Thanks for the review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the course layout here at Forest City National. We hope to see you back again soon for your next round!
Water trouble
Very nice course... great price thru GolfNow - I wish they would have this again. Not too far from where I live.
Thanks for the review! We are glad you enjoyed the course here. We hope to see you again soon for your next round!
Did not live up to the hype
Forest City National is a nice course, and i can see why it has received some hype form the locals. its has good length, plenty of block to choose from, decent variety, demanding from the tee at times but rewarding when good shots are hit. unfortunately Forest Cities condition doesn't warrant the hype... maybe 5-10 years ago when it was prime, but the course was a little brown, which i don't understand since there is plenty of water around and on the course. ....greens were slow, they had inconstant grass type (spotty) and at time didn't roll well. the positive is the course still has the ability to be great. maybe its just early in the year but it needs some work.
ill likely play again, since it was such a great deal, but i hope they firm up the greens and roll them... i dont mind the brown grass, but a course will only be as good as its greens... IMO

SLOW Greens!!
I have played Forest City numerous times over the years and was very disappointed in the conditions of the greens. They were VERY slow and somewhat bumpy. Either the greens weren't cut (on a Saturday?) or they maintained the same pins from the previous day as you could see the grass from the greens growing into the cup. As well, the bunkers were not raked out as part of normal course maintenance. I will not play there again until I receive some confirmation from other reviews or golfers that they are properly maintaining the course and the greens are running faster.
Also, the service in the clubhouse was nearly as slow as the greens. Sorry to be so negative but I really like the course layout and I've seen this course in a lot better condition in the past.
Hi 4bobmartin,
Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to hear that your experience was not up to par. Please email us at F.orestCityNationalGolf@gmail.com so we may further discuss. We hope to hear from you soon.
Hope the greens get fixed
My buddy and I made a +2hr drive to use an internet special. Well worth the drive.
PROS:
> great course layout
> tree lined fairways, anything but a Links style
> choose the proper tees and you will be in store for a great day of golf
> we used the internet special to play our 2nd round free
CONS:
> The greens, the greens, the GREENS !!!
I can only describe them as fluffy and spongy. Some had multiple types of grass/fungus/green stuff growing on them.
They wouldn't hold an approach shot, and were the slowest greens I've ever had played in my 25+ yrs of golfing.
> We had a immature young man (trying to) play in front of us (and his girlfriend). He failed to allow us to play through and eventually initiated a verbal argument with our playing group. I guess that is what you get when you tee off at 3:30pm - the quality of clientele drops ?!?
That being said, I have 2 more coupons and I won’t hesitate to drive +2 hrs back here to use them.
ForestCityManagement - I don't think you understand my overall view of your course. Something really needs to be done to improve your greens. I have another discount coupon that needs to be used, and if the conditions have not improved when I return, I will not be returning in 2017.

What in world happening out here
Playd Forest City National in late April/early May. Conditions were ok for that time of year but the greens were bad and very slow. Played yesterday and the greens were very poor and slow. But I think something is happening to FCN. looked like upkeep is falling down - really falling. Not only are greens look and feel bad, just some other things look like lack of mtc. For example on 11 if you go left into pine, you could always find ball in the pines. Now this is all growing weeds. Small trees down that is past years I would think would be cleaned up. Bunkers hard and unkept. At night I walk my dogs at Fanshaw Golf course - avg municipal course. Without a doubt the greens are better at Fanshaw. Been Golfing FCN for 20 years, I have never seen it in the condition it is in.
Something must be going on. Honestly its worth $45 but when season hits and they want $70 - no way. Better value other places.
Thank you for your review and for golfing at FCN for the past 20 years.. We are sorry to hear that your most recent experience was not up to par. Please email us at F.orestCityNationalGolf@gmail.com as we would love to further discuss this with you. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Look for a deal.
The course was in great shape except for the greens. The greens were very firm so well placed approaches did not stick, you had to play short and let it release to the hole. They were also slower than usual but that was a good thing as they are usually very quick if you are not ready for them. We finished the 18 in under 3 hours although it wasn't busy. This course is normally a 5-6 hour round due to slow play. Had a deal at 40% off making it worth the cost to play, normal price is a bit high.
Hi Pholland38,
Thank you for playing at Forest City. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the course conditions and good pace of play. We hope to have you back again soon!
Great Track
Played this course many times, fun track to play, conditions always great, greens have some spring damage, course will be impeccable come summer.

Great shape this season
The course is in great shape this season, the greens have recovered well from the winter and the course is well manicured as always.

Dissappointed
Forest City National has been considered one of London's best non-private courses for a long time......long time ago unfortunately. It seems that for the past few years it has not improved at all, and lately seems to be getting worse. There are many other private courses that I can think of, and have played at for less money, with way better conditions and service. I will not get into all the details, but let's just say a premium course should have premium amenities and services. I don't think that asking for a public washroom to be unlocked, ball washers (even on every other hole) let alone any hole, and towels are asking for too much. We were told greens were fantastic, and they were after the 15th hole. Sand traps should were wet and trampled on....I guess tough to rake when there are no rakes in sight. Finally, cart path only once we paid and checked in,......not acceptable!....don't know if this is a Golf Now booking issue or course issue, but either way one of the two companies should have had a disclaimer because we would not have paid to play there if we had known prior.

Hi Craig,

Wow 70degrees on Nov 3rd & great golf!!
Nov and the course is in excellent condition fairways are carpet, greens best shape of the year .... Grounds crew have done an amazing job clearing leaves, cutting, etc .. Is the best public course in London.. Only complaint, and I have this with all the public courses, it's the bunkers.. Like hitting off cement... If you haven't played here you're missing out
Thank you for your review and for playing at Forest City National! We are extremely happy to hear that you had such a wonderful experience and consider us the best public course in London. We hope to have you back again soon!
