Tough course, but fair!
You have to score well in the front nine before you reach the back nine. There are some tricky holes that could run your score up. If this is your first time going, you may be intimidated with some of the holes in the back nine. Even the 18th hole is a difficult hole! And the condition is excellent. Greens are soft that the ball lands and stops. Don’t read too much into the greens. It’s pretty well straight to the hall on your putts. Good luck, and may you score low!
Noisy hard and unrewarding
Car noise everywhere, crazy narrow faalirways, no range markings when i played .. made it a nightmare. Member i played width did not have fun...
Good day out, however....
It was a hood day out, my brother and I were teamed up with another 2 players who were also brothers.we had a great time golfing with them. HOWEVER....what's quickly ruining the experience is the NEVER ENDING EMAIL REQUESTS TO REVIEW THIS COURSE AND MY EXPERIENCE THERE. This went from a pleasant experience to one of just annoying harrasement. Not to much the unsolicited email marketing blasts. PLEASE STOP !
A good course worth revisiting
The course was a bit wet with rain in the morning making the rough more difficult to handle as it was quite thick already. The fairways n greens were very well maintained. Of course the sand bunkers were wet n some with water. Check in was super quick n staff very friendly n polite. Pace a bit slow but acceptable n the foursome finished around 4.5 hours. Power carts were not allowed to drive in the fairways today so more time needed to go to n from the balls making the pace slower. Overall, a nice course worth revisiting.
Decent test, price considerable for 6000 yard course
There is nothing bad about RHGC. It’s a fairly decent layout in the city. However quite pricey for 6000 yard (from blues) where driver is out of play on several holes. One tee block is actually a mat (due to what seems to be inability to grow grass in a dark tree protected area). I would expect the main times would be about $25 less overall and it would be extremely fair value. Better rates can be had for twilight and off peak times so go at those times for a good value test.
Overall, a good experience.
Would recommend this course, especially for the value and convenient location.
My only complaint is the Marshall was unnecessarily on us. We were about 5 mins slow, but there was nobody in front of us or behind. Zero reason to come up to us several times to speed up our play.
If anything we caught up to another group and had to wait; with no one insight behind.
But a good day on the course and the conditions were very good.
Great course - highly recommended
They have the right mix of challenging holes for all types of players. I would highly recommend playing. I warn you that it is a busy course and you’ll have players of all skill levels on course. Good players should play from the blues or else all your drives will end up in the sand traps. Game time can range from 4 hrs to 4.5 hrs
Also I would suggest taking lessons with Rob M if you need help with your mechanics. In one session he helped me adjust my grip. My ability to connect with ball for greater distance was noticed immediately. I also brought my 14 yr old daughter who learned how to use a driver in half a session.
You can’t go wrong at RHGC
