Great fall day for golf! Photo submitted by jonefraser on 10/20/2012
Just Ok
Nice course. Good golf chalenge. But for almost 100$ I expect a little more. A couple Green and tee off in rough condition.
Excellent course and great people working there
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The course is well maintained and the pace was excellent. Many of the holes can be tricky, so it would have been nice if there was some map that showed where the bunkers and water is (distance from the T, etc.). Since the club is celebrating its 35th year, all the flags were a burgundy colourm which made it difficult to determine the pin position. Should have saved the money on the flags and just reduced the price :) Plus since they were doing a lot of maintenance that day, while some of the staff was very considerate, some of the guys didn't seem to care that the noise from their whipper snippers was distracting (all the girls doing the maintenance were very happy, but some of the younger guys weren't friendly...maybe too much to ask, but it does make a difference). The cart girl was very friendly and had a nice supply of drinks. The food was very good (wish they had a steak sandwich though...not just sliced beef) and the service at the club house from Brad was excellent .
nice course, great staff , too many twosomes
upon arrival you're immediately greeted your bags are taken care of and placed in a cart if you are riding
we were politely offered an earlier tee time but declined since we did not want to pressure ourselves and cared to chip and putt.
We were a twosome and it was suggested that we play the Southern Uplands followed by the Midlands we have never played the uplands while we have played the Midlands, having said that we found the course stacked with twosomes in front of us and while the uplands are challenging and undulating it can be difficult to play for any golfer nevermind those who are challenged to hit a ball straight we found ourselves waiting often to tee off and while we enjoyed the scenery it somehow seemed to throw our cadence off. then there was the twosome behind us who were racing to every shot and attempting to put pressure on us.
I would recommend the course in general its scenery is outstanding the courses in good to great condition but bring extra balls if you don't hit straight it is very undulating and can be penalizing that way.
All staff was extremely polite friendly and presented well. One thing I was disappointed about was the cart girl had no pre made sandwicheswhat does it take for the facility to have nice fresh pre made sandwiches for us to buy?
Thanks for your remarks, Phil. Twosomes on the course is an ongoing problem for our pace of play. It would make the entire day go faster for everyone if people would agree to play in foursomes. The same number of players on the course, 1/2 of the groups!
Tough to score well
Is there a flat lie anywhere on this golf course? I sure didn't find one … but you'll need your 'A+' game to score well at Pheasant Run
Think you're good? You'll be humbled by the difficulty of the course … you think you've hit the perfect drive and it ends up off the fairway due to the slope which you didn't know existed! The greens are very tough to read and you'll have to examine your putts from all sides before executing your putt. Wow … it was beautiful and the staff couldn't be NICER!!! Free warm up balls and nice staff make you want to come back again … but you've got to bring your best or you'll be humbled!
Thanks for your strong recommendation! I appreciate you kind comments.
Fantastic Value
An amazing course for the price you pay. It's not that far off the 404 and the staff are really friendly. Five Stars.
Thanks for your kind comments!
good course
I'm. Very enjoyed this course.
Excellent condition and nice peoples
Thanks for your comments. Its the people that put in the 'excitement, warmth and fun!'
Good or Bad
Played today in beautiful weather. Good that the course was not busy at this time so the pace of play is very good. The fairway is in good condition. The only problem is the green, almost half of them are not playable, covered with sand and under aeration. Many workers are working around the green so you have to make sure you dont drop the balls over their head.
Good condition for this time of year.
I half expected the 90 degree rule since the week prior it was walking only. Even with things being backed up due to a frost delay that morning, once we started we were able to keep moving. I attribute this to excellent starters keeping things on track. Thank you!
Thanks for the positive reviews- I hope you're out often this summer!
Snowbird Golf
First game in Canada this year, it was still a bit chilly in the shade. Course was in great shape except for the skunk damage to parts of the fairways all in all it's still one of the best courses in Ontario.
Condition for open season, the course is good
Good condition to play. No complain on the course on the spring.
Thanks for your positive comments.
Pheasant Run poor greens!
Pheasant Run has been one of my favourite courses to play bu I was very, very disappointed in the condition of the greens! They were very patchy and rough. I didnt feel that we got value for our money. PR is a quality golf course but based on that shouldn't be charging what we paid on Saturday!
Sorry you were disappointed with your day at Pheasant Run. I hope you have a chance to return once we've been open for a few weeks and things have started to grow.
tight track
beuatiful surroundins. hilly course, tight fairways, some greens need work, nice clubhouse and snack bar, people are very nice and helpful
10 minute gap between times makes course run smoothly
Thanks for the review!
First Golf Game for 2015
they just opened a few days ago but to my surprise, the course was in good playing condition.
Thanks for the review. We're very excited about the condition of the course after such a long winter. Let's hope its the start of a long season!
Disapointing Golf Experience
Course was great! However i booked my game in golfnow as a "1 player only" assuming I would be matched with a 3some. When I arrived I was told I was on the the 1st tee by myself. I had a 2some in front of me and a 2some in back of me. I asked both groups if I could join and they both declined my request. I have never ssen this before . I had no intention of golfing 18 holes by myself so discontinued my round after 5 holes and went home a lttle dissapointed with the entire Pheasant Run Experience
nice course
My last game in this season was cool. Hopefully, they can send more good deal to Golfnow.
Challenging Course
The layout is challenging. Fairways are narrow. It was a cool windy fall day with a lot of fallen leaves.
Pace of play was good (<4.5hr). We had a good time.
the staff try hard and the layout is old school charm
I enjoyed the day with two other friends! the coarse had friendly staff and a Layout with old school charm!
I think it is a well keep secret, and one to be tried
spring or fall!
Very Nice course
Played in windy cool conditions. Amazingly the greens were in great shape for this time of year. Only problem was Leaves,,,fairways were fine, off them you were ankle deep and finding a golf ball was a challenge. Overall, any game this time of year is a bonus, this place just made it that much better, well done to the staff!!
Thanks for your review, Ron. I'll be sure to pass on your praise to Brad in the cafe
