Named after the bordering lake that the course overlooks, Lakeside Golf Club takes full advantage of the natural landscape of rolling hills and live oaks. Water comes into play on nearly every hole on the course. Streams and dry creek beds dot the course, creating challenges on several holes. The golf course also features undulating greens and narrow landing areas. Designed to provide a formidable test for any golfer, Lakeside Golf Club demands accuracy in addition to careful strategy. One of the most notable difficult holes on the golf course is the par-5 12th, which requires an approach shot over water to a well bunkered green.

Great views, terrible greens

Greens are something awful!

We had a great time , staff was friendly, beer was cold. I'm not paying more than 15$ a round here again. Might as well turn the green into 100% sand so the ball rolls consistent.

Great views cold beer!

this course should be plenty good enough for someone of your skill level playing once per month. it's a great deal for $15 and you won't find a better deal anywhere

Enjoyable course, great value

Pros:
-Pace of play was fantastic, finished my round as a single in just 2.5 hours
-Great value, found a golfnow deal for just $11 for 18 w/ cart
-Interesting layout with some good views of Canyon Lake
-Would reccomend this course if you want a quick affordable round, just go into it with proper expectations

Cons:
-Greens had been aerated, but did not seem to be recovering well. There was so much sand on several of them that I picked up rather than putt
- No real fairways, just a lower shorter cut of a "rough-like" grass
-As I mentioned, just go in with proper expectations. With the rates charged, I would consider this course an incredible value

NIce Layout

The layout of this golf course is really nice too but the maintenance on this course is so poor. Had not played here in a few years course maintenance has really slipped since my last time here. Greens are in the worst condition I have ever seen on regulation golf course. With the Hill Country Resort so close to this course you would think they would do a better job of maintaining this golf course.

Mom, send money...

I can see the potential of this course. The problem is they apparently ran out of money, so the course is in horrible shape. More specifically, the greens! Every green was just a bunch of sand.

Golf is golf, and the fact that I am out playing makes it great!! Still had fun and the scenery is beautiful!

Greens

Greens leave much to be desired. Too much sand and very bumpy. Ball bounced on every put on every hole.

Nice hidden gem

Thanks to Golfnow my golf buddy and I got a chance to experience this hidden gem of a course. The downside was certainly the condition of the green;they had been aerated and sanded not to mention watered. The layout was challenging enough but not difficult. It was a fun course to play and it was worth the ride out. The next time I'm in town I will play it again.

Endless Potential

Course has lots of potential. Staff was great. Greens were under repair but price for 18 was fair. Beautiful layout with views of the lake. Fairways weren't the best but definitely not the worst. I will be coming back again if I can score another $11 round. If greens are fixed this course has the potential to be the best for the price in the hill country.

Getting Better

Played all 18 holes. The only problem was the regulars. Not finishing out holes while playing a tournament started to push on the back side. Course is getting in better shape and you can see where work is being done. Keep it up. Thanks for the place to play close to home

They. are trying

to improve, but there are limitations when there is only one maintenance person. The views are great, the cart was clean and ran great. The greens needed mowing (which they were doing as we played), the whole course just needs a good "manicure". The maintenance guy and office man were friendly. There is a lot of work to be done at the course to make it top notch. I used to work at a five star golf course so I know what can be done, if you have the right people and the money.
Great course to kick around, we played 18 in three hours and 12 minutes. If nothing else, great views, plus you are in the country!

Good course for the price.

course was in pretty good shape considering the transition for winter to spring, the new owner is making improvements should be in great shape come summer time. it is a good laid back place to play.

As expected.

This course is typical of a lot of low budget courses.
Needs a lot of work but seems to get a lot out of
available maintenance money. The pleasing thing
to see was a lot of locals having a good time and
playing golf.

Greens need attention.

Other than the greens needing some tender loving care, I thought the course was fairly good. There were some very nice holes and a few challenging narrow fairways. Booking it through Golfnow.com made the cost very reasonable for myself and playing partner, so I cant complain. Maybe the greens were bad due to just getting into the Spring weather, but still should be kept up a bit better. They were dry and pretty hard with a few having dead spots of just sand. I would play again, but I am not sure I would want to pay full price until the course gets some better upkeep.

Good value considering we only paid $15

This used to be a really lovely and lush course. I'm sure the Texas drought hasn't helped but the greens are in terrible shape. You can tell they are trying to work on the tee boxes as those aren't much better. There was no one on the course when we went (kind of cold and blustery) so it was nice not being rushed. We play here quite often...it would be nice to see the greens and boxes in better condition.

Course needs work

The course has been neglected for a long time. New owner trying to improve the course. New owner cancelled temporary memberships on short notice and the price on golf now is the same as we were paying with our temp. memberships make no sense . Staff has for the most part been friendly and are trying to improve the atmosphere. Regular members are for the most part friendly but with exceptions from some who think they own the course(5 somes each with own cart and slow play won't allow anyone to play thru). I have played this course for the last 5 years on a regular basis and am hoping the new owner turns it around

Beautiful Hill Country Setting, mediocore course conditions

I've played the course a lot, basically because it is so close to where I live and have several friends who are members. The fairways are turning green thanks to a good stand of weeds and crab grass, the greens were not overseeded in the fall so the greens are hard and fast, several greens have enough slope that if you miss the put the ball will run down the slope to the fairway. Lots of talk about improving the course but it has a long way to go. Unless you get a discount rate through GolfNow, it is not worth their regular price, which the just increased

Lakeside Golf Course, Canyon Lake

This course has so much potential but definitely needs some upkeep. Front nine covered with Fire Ants.
Nice course design with all holes being different. Up - down - doglegs everything to challenge.
Have seen no upgrade since we last played here in March 2013.
They are letting a possible goldmine slip away

Nice aesthetics

With a nice view of Canyon Lake, this course offers a challenge to the novice golfer like myself. it is set into the hills overlooking the lake which offers a variety of terrain to play on. the greens are challenging as they are not the average flat lie. The drought has taken it's toll but as the weather warms and the sprinklers are turned on the fairways and greens will return to better play. All in All it was well worth our time to travel and play on this course.
