Fun and challenging
Fun course with some very challenging holes. Very friendly staff and fast pace of play.
Beautiful course; excellent value
My son and I were in the area and searched for a course that looked scenic and challenging. The Summit was both. Wooded, with tight well-maintained fairways and good variety in tee lengths. The back 9 has some elevated tees that are beautiful. It was a great day and an excellent value.
Too Sloooow
Beautiful day but play was very slow and group in front of us was extremely slow and definitely did not know how to keep pace and had no respect for the groups behind them. They even had a dog on the course - unbelievable! This led to groups going around, jumping on other holes etc
Worth the trip!!
What a nice little hidden gem. The layout is a little tricky on some holes but the greens rolled great & we pretty much had the course to ourselves. We will definitely be back!
Good time at the summit golf club
Real good time and a very challenging golf coarse/need to play this coarse a few times to get use to the last 6 holes
a matured course
I have played The Summit every year since it opened. It always challenges me.
Great Value
Little long ride from Minneapolis, but worth the ride. 2 very different feels between front 9 and back 9. Back 9 is very tight with large elevation changes.
Mix of many easy holes with a few challenging ones
The front 9 is pretty straight forward and really easy to score low on. Back 9 has more shot making required to avoid trouble.
Course was in great playing conditions. Played on a Tuesday afternoon, so it felt like we had the course to ourselves.
Very small club house with limited amenities. Beverages/Food are well priced, but this area was marked lower just because of limited selection.
Challenging-the greens are in top shape and just enough rolls to make you think.
I've played this course on a few occasions. It is always a good time. I had a friend come up from Florida and we played it on Saturday. He said it was a fabulous course and a great value. He loved the greens. We did not see a beverage server, and that was a bit disappointing. All in all I give it 4.5 stars.
Needs some trail maintenance
Course proper was in great condition. With recent rains and flooding in spring the cart paths are in poor and dangerous conditions. More attention to paths on a course where carts are needed, would improve the overall impression.
Affordable but buggy golf
Played Summit for $25 w/cart. Good value at that price. Front 9 is straight ahead of you & not too difficult. Back 9 is more difficult with blind shots, tighter fairways, elevation changes, few forced carries & woods. A couple of the holes on back 9 were almost unplayable because of mosquitoes, nats & biting flies - bring bug spray. No cart service on day we played so have refreshments on your cart. Overall course condition was good.
Very good value.
Challenging, good fairways greens and tees (as usual). With the exception of the two par 5 holes on the back nine, this is an interesting, fair test of golf. I would gladly recommend the course.
Fun and challenging
Very fun and beautiful course. Greens were a little rough but other than that it was awesome. I would highly recommend and will be going back. Super friendly staff, easy to get to, and just simply gorgeous setting!
Great Place to Play
I have played this course many times and keep going back. Brought two golfers who have never played the course before and they both loved it. The fairways are in beautiful shape as always. The carts are always very clean when you start since they wash and clean every cart after each group is finished using it. Every hole has it's own personality and no two are alike. Bought the tee time on golfnow.com for a great price. If you cannot get a great price on golfnow this course has the best twilight rate anywhere in the Twin cities. $25 with cart after 4 every day! Well worth the 30 minute drive from metro. check it out!
Cannon Countryside
The Summit is a challenging and very scenic course that is more than worth the time and money. About 5 holes require a second round to acquire local knowledge to allow the best scoring. The 50 minute drive is certainly worth taking. We will return.
Fun Golf Course! Excellent Value from Golf Now tee time!
The course was in great shape! Well worth the 45 dollars I paid for my dad and I to play 18 holes with a cart. The grass was recently mowed and very thick which made the rough shots tougher but fair! The fairways were absolutely beautiful, and rolling, well worth hitting (easier said then done tho) :/
One thing right off the bat however that really seemed odd is that there are no signs really showing a picture of the holes and the yardage!?! This seemed really odd you have to look at the score card, but I would recommend getting an app called GOLF PAD when playing it, it keeps track of scores and uses GPS to show you distance to back, middle and front of the greens. Then it also has google maps button on the top right so you can see which way the hole goes, and know the distance to the bunkers!
Another thing I did notice however is that the putting green was in super condition but the greens on the course were just good condition. Some where faster then others, and some seemed a little slower! There are TONS of what appeared to be old divots on the greens that really made you think if you ball was going to hop when putting. The greens were very fast however and some very very tricky putts. Many times it breaks more then you think!
The back 9 I was told was the harder course which I played better on! HA, but it was very very fun and scenic. really can blow you away for how different the course is from front to back 9. However many holes play pretty short so I would recommend you to not use driver on some of the holes to keep it straight.
Overall I would play this course again for how cheap of tee time it was and I thought it was a lot of fun!!!
I like the greens here. You can judge the speed well and the balls usually hold.
I noticed that alot of golfers here don't repair their balls marks. Maybe they could put a few signs to remind golfers to fix there ball marks. The other things is fixing their divots as well. They should provide the sand/grass sees bottles to fix your own. Other than that I really like the course.
Great Course
Don't be fooled by the not so exciting sign when you pull in and by the small clubhouse. It's obvious that they put all of the money into the course because it is spectacular! I will admit that when I first pulled in I was wondering if I was at the right spot. I would recommend this course to anyone! The conditions were great, the course was definitely challenging and the staff was tremendous! I believe it was at the 6th Tee I ran into a worker named Tim. We had a short conversation before he headed off to greet others. After the 18th he came up to me to grab the cart for cleaning and referred to me by my first name. I know how I am with names and for him to remember mine after probably talking and greeting 30 some odd golfers after me I found that to be excellent! In the end if you haven't played the Summit it is a must try hands down! I'm going back in the fall because the views with the changing leaves I imagine is breathtaking!
Great shape but tough course bring extra balls
The front seems like it should be easy but isn't - tha back looks tough and it is. A good challenging course.
