About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019. There are plans for converting the land into a park.
Originally built in 1932, this longtime 9-hole favorite has been beloved by downtowners for ages because of its central location. The city purchased the course in 1977 and expanded the original 36 acres to 92 in the early 1990s. The remodel involved opening up the fairways and enlarging the greens. Trees and bunkers were added to give the old track even more character.
No. 1 is notable for its elevated tee, playing down to the fairway about 30 feet below. And No. 8 is the only par 5, a welcome birdie opportunity for the low handicapper.
Getting there : From Fort Worth, take Hwy. 287 north. The course is located just off 287 between Riverside and Vickery, on the right hand side.

Value
Listen. ITS A GREAT VALUE! I GAVE THEM $9 AND THEY LET ME PLAY GOLF. Only place arounf were you can do that. It's a city run course. That means that it's not great. But it's not bad either. Its a short course but a few of the holes make you decide on risking it with the big stick or laying up. I have only played this winter so far but I'm assuming that in the spring and summer the pace must slow down a bit because it only has 9 holes but 2 sets of tee boxes. When you finish 9 you just turn around and play the same holes from a different tree box. Staff inside was very friendly.
Good for the money
We went on a day when it was supposed to rain so no one was there. But I think it's normally packed. It's 9 holes with 18 different tee boxes. The back 9 tends to be the same holes that are 50 yards longer.
Staff was VERY nice. Really liked them.
Greens were not very good at all. Lots of sand.
However we played for $9 each with a cart, so it's hard to beat that!
Flooded, play only when dry
Course was flooded on some holes. Also, they didn't tell us the tee box on hole 2 was moved up due to the course conditions. Paid for 18 holes and decided to stop at 9. Play this course when it is dry only.
Nothing speical
May have been a good golf clubs 50 years ago, needs to be updated and taken care of.
great value for the the money
The course was in decent shape and the staff was very friendly.
Great value!
Was very good day here at Sycamore and greens are in good condition!
Not Worth your time or money
I had an absolutely terrible experience at this course. Showed up at 1:00 for a 1:15 tee time, employee working at the time completely disregarded the whole concept of tee times and allowed 3 groups of 4 who showed up at the same time I did and did not make a tee time at all. I was finally able to tee off at 2:20, however, there were no more carts available (I paid for a cart) so I had to wait even longer until one was available. At 2:30 I started my round. Pace was painfully slow due to sharing fairways and greens with the back 9. Course was completely covered in garbage, and it gets worse the further you go back. Finally, when I checked in the employee told me that someone else had checked in under my name and reservstion, he neglected to check for id or conf number. Avoid this course at all cost, not worth your time or money
Hidden gem
Great 9 hole course with cheap prices.. Fairways and greens in great condition for this time of year. Course is challenging but fun for all skill levels. Only downside is they do not have a grill so eat before you go. They do have snacks and drinks. Great location next to downtown ft worth. Weekend rounds can get long but for being the cheapest course around you can't complain.
Great Value
Great course for the money!
Pro's - Great Price, Greens in very good shape, Easy to get to/from
Con's - Sketchy neighborhood, Sand traps were like rock, Lots of trash throughout the course
Surprising Little Gem
The greens were immaculate and perfect for amateurs. Not too fast and not too slow. I liked how they had 18 sets of tees for 9 holes. The new tee boxes when playing the second time through change the whole dynamic of the course. The bunkers were in poor condition but other than that the course was in good condition. I would definately pkay here again. Do not follow the address that golf now provides. Call the course first because the address golf now has is incorrect.
great FW course
This is a great course. And one with some history. Check it out, to walk the same fairways ad8 some of the greats is just awesome. Serious water hazards. But the course plays wide open. This is a great course for beginners, never crowded and always in great shape. Kind of a hidden gem in FW.
Good value for the price
Nice course for the price. They do over book and it will take a long time to play but not a bad course to practice on.
This course could use a lot of work
I had an idea of what I was getting into, but I didn't ever think it would be THAT bad. It's a 9 hole course and they double booked the course. I am a fast player and it took over 5 hours for my buddy and I to finish. Not to mention there is something called soccer golf that is actually on the course.. Kids were kicking soccer balls through the fairway when I was on the tee box - come on guys! Course itself was fair. It teases the long ball hitter to go for the green a few times when there is water right before it. The condition of the course is about on par with other public Fort Worth golf courses during the winter. I would not recommend this course to a friend. Go to pecan valley if you can - same price for a much nicer course and overall better experience
Very good course for beginners!!
Course is great for beginners, never too packed!! Great prices as well.
10 dollars 18 with cart
Good place to play, not to crowded. Fairly challenging.
Great course
Enjoyed my first round at this course. Fun course with a little of everything
Greens are nice
The course is very nice, and it's a pretty challenging course to play. I will be going back to play very soon.
Fun course
We had a great time playing here. Well cared for course with 2 sets of T boxes for 18 holes. Would recommend for a fun day in Ft. Worth.
Can't beat it by for the price!
Great beginner course with a few difficult holes. Sand traps need work.
