The best 9 hole course I’ve played in Yorkshire
We played here on Saturday afternoon and were made to feel welcome by all the members and staff. The course was playing quite long because of the rain, but it was in great condition. The par 3’s all give a different challenge, the 3rd is harder than it looks.
I managed to par the stroke index 1 hole, the 9th which if you’ve not played here before, it’s a long par up the hill back to the clubhouse. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Poor greens
Very poor golf course greens are in bad condition. And from hole 4 onwards it's a public walkway with kids playing in bunkers maybe it was because lockdown had just been lifted but I will not be playing here again
Super friendly golf course
A lovely 9 hole course, where you are made extremely welcome by the members.
Interesting course on hilly terrain.
Would definitely recommend.
Little battles
When you finally get there, (it's well hidden), I got a warm welcome and assistance to 1st tee.
The course starts with a tempting fade driveable p4.
Then you get the 2nd hole which is a test for legs up a hill. Followed by 2 decent par3s and a couple of nice p4s. A baby p3 with a back on yourself p4 8th tee short must cause lots of hold ups.
Finaly a par 4 9th/18th which you challenge 1st time round and play with livked wounds the 2nd time (and probably 2 shots better).
Not the best
Average layout, decent enough greens. Much better than roundhay but not as good as Rawdon as nine hole courses go in the area
Friendly, welcoming club
Very friendly welcoming club, staff and members really helpful. Course is interesting, some areas in poor condition but overall would thoroughly recommend the club
9 hole gem
Very challenging tight 9 hole course. Greens are slow and stick quite nice. All round prices are great!
Was due to play 18 holes today. I turned up and no one was around all locked up. Therefore had to start round without a scorecard. Green keeper was very helpful and went out of his way to get me a scorecard. I gave up after 7 holes due to gale force winds from hole 4 onwards unplayable conditions for golf.which was a shame as i have played this course before and will come back again.
Playing in a heatwave
Very challenging on a red hot day, some of the fairways were Yellow (no rain for 2 months) There was not a disappointing hole on the course. The final hole is the ultimate challenge in golf. I will play again and attempt to Par the last hole!
Only a 9 holer and 2 of the holes are the steepest I've ever played im not the fittest of players and these 2 nearly killed me
After the first 3 you go through a wood to play 5 very good holes then you finish with a hole that would make a very good ski slope
Hidden Gem
What a lovely little course. Pretty short but you need to think your way round, this is no pitch and putt. perfect for 9 holes, just save some enegy for the challenging 9th.
Great atmosphere when we stopped for a beer after 9. cant wait for summer weather, this will be a beautiful setting in the sun. top notch bacon sandwich too
