Only 6 minutes between tee times, hence slow play.

Very much enjoyed the whole experience at Huntswood
Great pay and play
Have played several courses around the area and have to say the greens are immaculate as are the teeing areas so well done greenkeepers!! A general theme I've noticed during Covid is that many have allowed the long grass to fester and some have narrowed up their fairways but not here. It was a busy day and lost a few balls why I'm a strong advocate of cutting back long grass to semi rough if anything to speed up rate of play and avoid frustration. This was my first time here and it was a good round had to carry 1 to 2 club lengths 3 at times more to account for strong winds and elevated hole. Had to cross a few holes to get to the next ones and some tees are in very close proximity to the greens almost like greenside bunker location hidden by a row of trees but you wouldn't know until you get closer to them. So ended up using a club length shorter on slightly obscured greens purely for safety reasons and be more than proactive with shouting Fore coming back to the clubhouse as the shallow valley between holes is a magnet for balls ending up close to adjacent teeing off areas and a blindspot for players coming in opposite direction mid fairways. I'm just over emphasising the safety aspect. Still a very enjoyable pristine course with clean bunkers no fear of damaging clubs (no stones) can leave the driver behind 3,5 woods or hybrid will suffice. Wil def be back with a half set heavy on wedges. A course for all abilities!
Short friendly course
I played early hours on a Saturday, the greens looked mint green and very true. It was a shame they were very wet due to rain. Not puddles just damp grass which is a shame cause they didn’t play as fast as they looked. Short and friendly all and all good condition fairways a bit dry but plenty of grass. Half of the bunkers filled with puddles.(was heavy rain previously) but I will be playing again. Good chance to make a decent score.
Good Value
Friendly staff well organised at arrival and upon completion. Course fairly short but offers average golfer a challenge. Greens in good condition.
Nice flat course and some wide fairways
I enjoy playing this course and took a friend with me for their first time. We teed off 10 mins early with no one behind us. We reached the 5th hole and had another 2 ball approaching behind us. We were looking for a ball in the light rough and called them through. We continued and at a reasonable pace and next thing we know is a ball landing on the green whilst we were putting out. We had a couple of race horses behind us. In the words of the great Tom Watson “Take the time to smell the roses”.
Enjoy your golf.
my experience
i would use this golf course to practice your irons. as a big hitter averaging 300yrds drive, the only hole to really use the driver is on the last hole and maybe 9. when when you only use it once, who knows where it will go. greens are receptive, fairways are decent.
its a very short course, i think its quite narrow tbh. 4 difficult holes i find are 9, 11, 12 and 16,
9 fairway slopes left to right, so if you slice or face, aim for the 1st fairway :)
11 down hill, when really windy, it can be tricky
12 tight positioned green cuddling the trees on the left
16 well placed bunker in front of the green (aim left or right) green is fast so putting downhill is frustrating
4 bay driving range, putting green, but no pitching range.
Very slow play and too short
I read the reviews about slow play and didn't take much notice, however they are correct. There were 4 of us playing and we were behind 4 very slow women the whole round. We didn't mind at first as it was a weekend so we planned on catching them up at the half. However after the 9th the one woman decided to go to the clubhouse for a break and the group still didn't let us through, therefore we had to wait around 10 minutes for her to come back and tee off as well. The course is also just too short as you are only allowed to play off the yellows. If they let you play off the back tees then the course would be fairly decent however the yellows are about 3 yards behind the women's tees are therefore its just boring and short. I think it's worth paying a little bit more money and go to a different course nearby.
It’s ok but could be better
Corse ok a lil over priced for it . Very hot day and ground very hard , greens are fast but playable. The tee are all over the place and u can struggle to find your next tee . Also u walk in front of players tee off to get to your tee . Need just a bit more attention payed to the upkeep and could be a great corse
Nice short course but really slow
It's a nice short course, it's been crammed in abit with greens and tees quite close to each other. The pace of play was terrible, there was a members competition and given the length of the course it's not clear why the members were slowing up play so much. Also they wouldn't let anyone play through which didn't help. Walked off after 14 holes, as did the two groups in front of us. Shame because a course like this should really be somewhere you go for a quick round. Best to avoid on Sunday I would say.
Be prepared for a challenge!
Be prepared for a challenge, the course is very tempting for taking your driver out on most holes, the advice is don't the way you keep your score down is to play to the dog-legs and have a good approach shot. Greens are very fast we played on a hot day so the bounce and roll helped. Would recommend this course to anyone challenging but beautiful course in great condition. You will enjoy this!
