Owston

Played this course, week after the major storms, course was very dry to say we hade so much rain.
For the end of February I thought overall the course was in good condition.
In fact will visit again in the summer.

Not bad considering the weather

Played off the whites makes it a bit more challenging. Not bad fairway conditions considering the rain. Greens very soft. Tee boxes terrible. Finished on +1 over (71)

A course in need of TLC

I have played this course many times over years. In fact having moved into the area it is now my local course. However there has been a steady erosion of what were high standards and has now reached a level very close to the little 9 hole course next door ( which is cheap and scruffy). To start with the tee boxes are a mess and usually mown to the barest minimum. Rough is penal. The Green keepers used to try and thin it out, meaning if your ball strayed off the fairway you would have a great chance of finding it, not any more. This can mean the speed of play is very slow when the course is busy. The greens and fairways are okay. The weather has baked the fairways but most greens are in good shape. The new layout has definitely worsened the course and certainly holes 1 and 2 could do with tweaking. A tougher par 4 and a par 3 would be better. I would also say the SI for certain holes needs revision.
However for a fiver at the moment for twilight golf it still represents a bargain. Hopefully over the winter a plan to get the course back to its previous best will occur.

Shocking

Pro shop not open upon arrival
Course is trash
-layout is terrible
-conditions were horrific. No clear fairways, fairway length varied in size, burnt patches and overgrown rough. Greens were acceptable but played slow
-tee boxes overgrown and unweeded
No care for the course at all.

Paid £18 I’ve played courses 10x better state for £10
Never will return absolutely shambolic course

Get it on a deal

It's been a few years since I played here last. At some point in recent years some land has been sold or just fenced off on the back field causing the redevelopment of the course.
Some holes do not now match what the GPS says on watches and trolleys, there is a lack of 150 marker posts around the course. Red/ yellow posts and lines are missing from some of the ponds. The bunkers of which there are plenty have little sand but a lot of grit, not the easiest shots especially around the greens.
Only paid £12.00 each on a hot deal but as we both drove an hour to get there felt it was not worth that.
With some attention to it maybe it could be worth a revisit but not in the near future.

Not the courses fault

The rate of play was atrocious. An ignorant four ball refused to let a two ball and a single player through. It ruined the round. The course itself wasn’t in great condition either. All the bunkers had significant weed growth. The greens were inconsistent and in need of attention.

Improved

This course has come on leaps and bounds since my last visit.
Fairways and greens were very good.
The tees and bunkers could do with some attention,
But for £15 you can't go wrong.

Bad reviews not deserved, fantastic condition

Best course conditions I’ve played this winter (and I’ve played a lot of courses) all greens open. Not the most challenging or exciting course but still a fantastic round

Reviews dont do it justice.

Played on the 11/12/21 after looking at some of the reviews I was a bit sceptical, but as soon as i arrived at the course it was beautiful. For the time of the year the greens where in very good condition. The fairways were well cut and the rough wasnt too bad to play out off. Finding the 11th tee took me a while but that's probably just me being daft. The only criticism i have is that there was no yardage on the tee boxs other than that its superb.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will be back very soon.

Decent

Nice course layout, nice varied holes.
Can’t really go wrong for £20 on a weekend.
Some nice holes with water hazards to keep you thinking.

Not sure

Not a bad course for the money but wouldn’t pay any more than £20.
Greens are poor and uneven, ball doesn’t roll properly. Course layout is ok, fairly nice holes but all quite similar bar a couple.

Steady, flat and not too challenging though so good for a easy days golf.
