Amazing renovation - very enjoyable course

Incredible redevelopment job on this course. From May 2020 this is a totally different course to the one that used to be here. I used to play here a few years ago but moved out of town. Got my first game on the new course there today and it really is excellent. Dodgy weather which is par for course, but the new layout has some of the best designed greens I’ve ever played on. It’s a lot different to how it used to be - the slightly more bonkers holes (which I always used to like actually, but not to everyone’s tastes) which could ruin your round have been removed, replaced by some short but spectacular risk and reward holes. Lots of changes in elevation, well designed bunkering and some amazing green complexes keep it interesting Don’t let the lengths on the scorecard fool you, you’ve got to play incredibly tight to keep a low score on the short par 4s, but everyone’s got a chance. Eagle opportunities for the best players, but plenty of decent chances for a par for part-timers (just make sure you’ve practiced your putting). This is a really fun course, the greenskeepers and management have done an outstanding job here. Definitely now my favourite course in the bury/north Manchester area and will be my go-to choice in future.

Pros: Staff are great, Greens superbly designed and play well, speed of play very fast, lots of risk and reward, fun golf!
Cons: If you’re a big hitter and like bombing that driver 280+ then not too many chances for that here, get the irons out!

Good course

First time here great weather it’s a good little course.
The only issue I had was a lot of the holes where cris cross over each other can be confusing .
I would be here again for sure.

Great little course!

First time back since it’s new makeover and I wasn’t disappointed. Some holes will take time to mature and will definitely be back to play again he course again. The course was quiet so the crossover tees was no problem, can’t comment on the clubhouse facilities as didn’t use it, but staff at golf shop and on the course were all all polite and gave out good advice. Can’t wait to play this course again!!!

Walked

Worth a try

Booked as a Hot Deal so good value for money. Proffesional was very helpful. Course originally an 18 hole, now 9 hole taken from a combination of the 18 whilst work carried out. As a result a bit untidy to play, could'nt work out most of the yardages, greens good condition, so of tee boxes poor, very tight course in places, teeing off over greens, adjacent fairways very close. I imagine in its day itmade a very playable 18 hole course, perhaps struggles with the same appeal as a 9 holer

Prestwich Golf course

The course was in great condition considering they are having major reconstruction of the course. Members were very helpful and pleasant. The Professional and his colleagues were also very helpful. I would definitely recommend this course.

Perfect weather
Used cart

Had a most enjoyable round of golf at Prestwich. Weather was perfect and we only passed one other person playing. As the course was dry, the ball travelled some distance. It is not a long course and there are a number of holes were it is possible, for someone of my ability, to score a birdie or certainly a par.

Worth £10

Didn’t expect it to be Augusta for a tenner and therefore wasn’t disappointed.
Be worth another visit when all the changes are made to the course.

A little tester

More care needed on this relatively short course than you might think. Certainly any wayward tee shots are punished by well placed bunkers, tress lined fairways and the general lie of the rolling course. It's definitely a course to tempt you to improve your score on, and one I'll be back to play again. Plus the 19th offers you a well deserved cooling drink to mull over, just how you didn't manage to beat your handicap.....

Poor

Much better courses available in Manchester. Few holes crossed over others and had to cross paths and walks to get to others.

Some fairways when you teed off were very tight plus housing was very close to a number of the holes. Not good for wayward shots!

I would not recommend

I paid £20 for a 2 ball... it was £19:98 to much

As soon as I arrived the man working in the pro shop was arrogant and in welcoming..
he even asked if I actually needed two cards "would one not do" scowling as he said it!

The course layout and conditions are by far the worst I have ever seen in my 15+ years of playing golf!

The worst part of this was that it was a 50th birthday present for my dad. You can imagine how embarrassed I was to turn up to prestwich GC and to be created by this.

We walked off after 9 holes..

I will never be returning again

Quirky course but loved it

A lovely quirky course to play.
Greens where about 2/3 weeks off being bob on.
Some steep hills on a couple of holes but I wouldn't let that put anyone off playing this course.
My only gripe would be recommending that the course puts a bell on the 17th green to let players on the 17th tee know the green is clear, your playing a completely blind shot to the green.

Hiking boots needed

Pretty and well kept course but very hilly.
Lots of crossing over tees/greens due to close proximity. I would imagine it's difficult to play when busy.
