Ridgemark Golf & Country Club
About
Tucked away between the mountains and foothills of the Gabilan and Diablo Ranges, Ridgemark Golf & Country Club enjoys a peaceful, secluded setting. San Benito County has been especially hard hit by drought and as a way to make the best of a tough situation, the decision was made to combine the club's two championship courses into one, more challenging layout. Golfers who loved the former courses need not worry. The best holes have been incorporated in the new layout along with the addition of some new and interesting holes, like the tough risk-reward seventh hole. The golf course has plenty of challenges in store including doglegs, strategically placed bunkers, tree-lined fairways, and water hazards. At just shy of 7,000 yards from the back tees, there are some long holes that are especially tough but you'll get some great mountain views from the elevated tees.

Worth the Drive
Ridgemark has always been a favorite. I have to admit I liked the Diablo side better than the Gabilan side before the consolidation. But they did a decent job of picking the holes for the new 18, even though they left out a few of my favorite holes in the process. It is still a challenging round with no two holes alike and maintained in a very good condition (given the drought and then the rain). For the price, I am happy to drive down from San Jose several times a year.
Got money's worth
Very good Hot Deals rate but course was muddy, which was excusable due to prior rain. However, the greens were in horrific condition - bare dirt patches all over. Beverage cart was sorely missed for the hot coffee on a cold day.
Mostly Right
When they combined the two courses they selected a mixture of holes from each. They got it mostly right. I always preferred the Diablo course, and I would have used a few more of the better holes from that side. That being said, the new course is fun, challenging and playable. The restaurant has in the past been above average for a golf course venue and the service there is always good and friendly. They have had some pricing deals that have made it very attractive and worth the drive from the San Jose. I am happy to play there any time.
Like an old friend
I've played Ridgemark upward of 100 times in my experience, and each time I play, I feel more and more comfortable with the course(s).
I am still not sold on the new layout, but the holes that remain are wonderful to play. I know my game, and if I'm off, I can generally still find my ball. It's just a feeling of comfort, and when I score well, it's even better!
Golf Carts need fold down windsheilds.
Not the same as to when both course were available. No clubhouse return after 9 holes. And really not the same as the original 18 hole lay out was! Pretty ugly, the dried out fairways not being used any longer. I feel sorry for the home owners there.......Over priced too.
Have to get a Hot deal.
Not Worth The Money
Way over priced for the condition. Never seen this course in such bad shape I was embarrassed inviting friends to play my home course. It's appearent that owner and grounds crew really don't care about there golf course. Tee Boxes surface and mess and not mowed, fairways dry, brown and signs of sprinkler problems, greens completely disappointing. These courses at one time where played by people from all over northern Ca its to bad
Even $25 seems steep
Since removing 18 of the 36 holes and combining them into one course, the layout has become a hard to follow random mess of holes. Greens are decent, and that's about it. The carts are so beat up they are borderline dangerous. If you can find a level spot on a tee box it's covered in quack grass. The "water hazards" are sad, dried up pits overgrown with weeds. Even on the cart paths (when paved) the grass and weeds are growing up through the cracks and over the edges. Even the flags for thi pins are faded and tattered. Where did the millions of dollars recently spent on this course go? The wood-fired pizza oven?? Speaking of which, the food in the bar was very good. Pace of play got excellent because there was no one in front or behind us at 2:30 on a beautiful Wednesdsy. I've played this course on occasion over the last 12 years and will no longer.
Nice course
Most fairways are foregiving but some are tight and require hitting accurately. Greens are decent and it is fun to play. Occasionally a fivesome is slowing play but not too bad. Traps could use some sand but budgets are tight everywhere. Will play here regularly for the excellent value.
Find a better course
Rough, 50 TO 60% dead or dirt
Poor tee boxes
Dirt on greens and in fairways.
Dirt mounds from burrowing animals.
No marshalls
Great golf and a great day
It's been a while since we played here, and the weather could not have been more perfect! Pace of play was excellent, and the course was in good shape even with the recent work on the greens. Noted that signage is MUCH better since our last visit...made it easier to get around... nice flow. I do miss some of the holes from the now abandoned course....but overall, with the twilight rates it was well worth it. Also love the club dining with great food at very reasonable prices.
Good playing experience
Course in good shape. Will return and recommend to friends.
Ridgemark Golf fun 4 everyone.
This was a nice course great greens and the fairways were in great condition. Had fun.
No beverage cart snack shack is always closed
I golf here quite often sucks with no drinks on course new management making bad decisions
Second best public course in the area
This once 36 hole golf course resort have been reduced to an 18 hole course. Located at a seniors community it is filled with golf loving octogenarians that would welcome a younger group every now and then. Except for a few holes the course is pretty straight forward. Most of the pins can be seen from the tee. The course is surrounded by a lot of homes so be careful specially if you have a wicked slice or hook! Mature trees are everywhere which adds challenge. A few water hazards also in play on a few holes.
PUZZLING LAYOUT
THI S HODGE PODGE LAYOUT OF 18 HOLES WAS AN EXTREME NIGHTMARE. THE HITTING OF "BREAKFAST BALLS" (mulligans) FIVESOMES, AND IN GENERAL SLOW PACE OF PLAY MAKES THIS PLACE UNDESIRABLE TO COME BACK. THE LAST TIME I PLAYED IT WAS THE SAME WAY, IT TOOK 2HOURS TO PLAY 6 HOLES, FRUSTRATED AFTER THAT, WE LEFT !!! THESTAFF APPOLOGIZED, BUT IT IS THIS SAME WAY, THE LAST TIME. YOU KNOW, " THAT IS HOW THE MEMBERS PLAY HERE' ! NOT ME, NEVER AGAIN ! SERIOUS GOLF CANNOT BE FOUND HERE !
Liked the layout & cart GIRL!!
Always enjoyed playingthis course--wish I was closer--plus staff is one of the best!
2/17/16 round
Great staff in the Proshop, the started Raul is a great guy, always helpful and friendly. The course is in good shape with some very challenging holes, especially the number one handicap! Overall the greens are in fair shape as are the fairways. The rough can be very difficult. Some water holes come into play, but overall a very fun course.
ssucks
no continuity, should have kept original 18 holes. dont think Iwill play hers again.
