5 hour round...again
Great course but pace of play is horrible. Absolutely ruins the round. This course has decided quantity of players is more important that quality of play. Won’t be back.
5 hour round
My third and last time playing this course. Five hour rounds are a deal breaker for me.
Great place
Great layout and fantastic conditions, nice practice areas. Food selection at the turn very weak
Quit after 12 holes
Three groups on 13 tee.. pace 9f play was great for 9 holes the. Things ground to a halt. We drove in and got a credit for 9 holes. Marshals should do a better job or starter might explain pace of play rules. Carts have gps but no ability to call pro shop. I was thinking we might buy a home here but not after this experience
Fantastic
Lakewood National is impressive in every aspect and is my favorite public course in all of Sarasota county, and I’ve played them all.
Layout is fun, strategic and beautiful. Course design is perfect for allowing amateurs to have fun but challenging better players from the longer tees. Truly a great course.
Maintanence is impressive. Greens are private-course fast (11.5-12.5 stimp depending on the day) and fairways, bunkers and tees are ideal.
Practice facility is just magnificent. Extremely spacious driving range with short game area attached and multiple putting greens nearby, all directly behind clubhouse for easy access. No ball machines, either. Titleist range balls included in greens fee and stacked at each hitting spot.
The entire operation is run beautifully. Bag handlers at bag drop-off doing their job well; multiple attendants in pro shop so players aren’t waiting in line to check in; multiple starters helping punctuality: one collecting players from driving range and sending them to first tee and one at first tee informing players of course info and when to begin; friendly cart girl coming around multiple times and vigilant ranger keeping pace of play up and patiently speaking to each playing group to inform them of any timing issues. Truly impressive.
Following my round, I went back to the range and hit balls for another hour to fix some issues that came up. No questioning or dirty looks from any employees. Staff seems to take pride in their professional, enthusiastic and respectful nature. Wonderful experience. Please give LN a try, even if seemingly expensive. It’s worth it.
Great review and I agree it's first class all the way around. However, give Manatee County it's due. This course is firmly planted in Manatee County (along with other great courses like LWR Country Club, Ritz-Carlton Members Club, and others).

First time
Course is in beautiful condition. Great fast greens. Back 9 was a little tougher but very fair 18. I’m a 23 and I loved it.
Slow play!
5 hour rounds are not necessary!!!!A course as pricy as this one should have rangers out monitoring play..ruins the day for everyone else.
Course set up is challenging but fair. Good greens but huge, gps on carts but didn’t show slope on greens only size, there were no greens books available either. Fairways were ate up, course must see a lot of play. Sand was available on the carts for filling divots but I guess the clientele doesn’t find it necessary to utilize it.
Very pricey course. There are better in the area. Don’t think I will be back.
A “real” course
My only complaint is that teeing off at 2:12 we still had to play last 2 holes in near darkness. For a top notch difficult course I expected a few marshals to keep things moving but there were none. For $100 on golfnow I was disappointed that we were behind “members” couples who obviously weren’t up to handling this course (ex: taking 7 swings at a ball in the trap).
The course is in great shape and the greens rolled fast and true. Lots of local knowledge would help because many of the approaches are blind and the greens have huge contours. Lots of shots that appeared excellent ended up being way out of place. All in all a fun challenge!
Huge fast greens
The course is in great shape and pretty forgiving. Make sure to be below the pin or be prepared to put off the green!
Tough Course
Windy conditions today made us really concentrate on an already challanging layout. The course played long but the fun is hitting to the right areas. Greens are still the best I've played on. Go figure the undulations and you can suceed in putting well. Will play again.
Championship Golf
The course was in great condition and and the greens were fast as they should be. The staff is very professional and helpful..
Great day!
Very good conditions today. Fast greens. Nice layout. Played from the forward most tees since are seniors on vacation. Put together with 2 nice guys who played from almost the back tees. We had a good time.
Staff very friendly. Driving range balls included.
Good pace of play. Only waited a few times at par 3’s.
No restaurant yet but tiki bar is in the works.
Lakewood National
This is a really nice golf course. Nice driving range and pro shop. Fairly open fairways handle the sprayed tee shots. Big undulating greens that are fast. Back side has few cart paths but have open sand/gravel paths that really compliment the fairways. Very enjoyable. This course is a must play course.
Must play
First time playing this new course and it was in championship form.. must play
Excellent condition in all ways
Played this course from the blue tees today. The course condition was excellent. Greens are large and roll true. Greens undulate and greens were fast.
Best Course
Best course I’ve played in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. Course condition was excellent. Greens are getting ready for season but still tricky enough to challenge. Can’t wait to play again.
Always the marshals fault NEVER the people who play SLOW.....
