Not very good any longer. I could have played 18 holes elsewhere for &10 more!
Course was in overall bad shape and very crowded after I had asked and the person I dealt with said it was wide open. Not, gate was open and apparently people were coming in and playing free. No little shack any longer open with an attendant any longer so no bathroom and no snacks or drinks. used to be nice when they had an attendant! Not now!
Why did I pay
Not sure if this was a one off or how it is, but showed up for a 4pm tee time, was a bit early, but when I asked the club house how busy it was they said they had a few groups throughout the day but made it seem like it wasn't busy atm. When I got to the course (which is off-site) their was a line if like 4 diff groups waiting to tee off. When it was 4pm and should have been my time to tee off I found out from talking to the group ahead of me they had jus shown up and got in line and didn't have a tee time. Called the club house and confirmed other than a group they had just sent, there shouldn't be anyone else out there. Informed them there were about 3 groups ahead of me and 3 groups behind me. They said they would send someone out to deal with it but I finished my round and never saw anyone (bout 1.5 hrs). So I'd suggest not playing here until they get someone to manage the tee offs so that it doesn't just have people showing up and playing like it's a free course.
Value represents condition
What can you really complain about being $25 to play nine holes on a part three course. The grains are in pretty rough condition but again considering it’s $25 it’s kind of what you would expect, but with the name that Château Allan has for their other courses. I would expect it to be a little bit better taken care of. Staff is friendly as always love going to château and playing just wish they would pay a little more attention to the executive course I would be willing to pay a little bit more for better well maintained course.
Recommendation
It would be good to install signage instructing
golfers to fix their ball marks on the greens . If the greens were not full of holes I would give a five star for greens an if the Tees were a little bit better would be nice as well. Overall not a bad course for practicing your short game. A little high on price.
No pro shop on site
Course is OK for a par 3. Two greens you have to fly water which can be a challenge. The real disappointment for me was that you have to leave the main course(drive about 2 miles) to get to the par 3. So didn't get a chance to warm up. There's no water food or restrooms there either if you go show up super early to use the range and warm up or you will be out of sorts like I was. This was also a hike from me so it made for a disappointing day. Wasn't worth the drive
Decent price but don’t rent clubs!
We played this course with a foursome. I had three from out of town so we had to rent clubs which were $36 per! Way too expensive for this course. We won’t do it again.
Some hard holes but good place for beginners
You have to check in the main pro shop then drive back out on the main road into the traffic congestion and turn into another part of the resort. Not ideal
Course conditions were not great
Small greens and 3rd - 4th -9th are brutally hard . Other holes are easy. Took a beginner and it was nice and quiet during mid week morning. So they could practice some shots and learn.
Not cheap for what it was and having to walk..
Still after nine holes we went back to the clubhouse and had a delightful lunch...
Super fun course
Course was in great shape and pace was good for being a packed Saturday. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only complaint is we were almost hit twice while on the tee box from wayward shots from other holes. It’s ok to suck, I suck too, but at least yell fore. Overall had a great time and I will be back.
Nice course
My group of three had a fun round. This course is a very good par 3 design but a few improvements would make for a better experience. We wanted to hit balls at the range first but were delayed since the machine was out of balls. The attendant got us some balls but this delayed us and we were not able to hit but a few before we had to go find the first tee. I suggest better signage when you approach the par 3 course parking lot and fixing the tripping hazards and steps leading up to the starters shack which was evidently no longer in use.
The catwalk trail along the lake on #9 was awkward with a push cart and some are not so comfortable being at the waters edge for such a long way. Also better yardage markers on the tees. Also on #9, I hit an excellent shot only to find that the yardage on the card was wrong which left my ball short and wet. One last thing was signs leading you back to the cars would prevent people feeling like they were lost in the woods. It was a good expereince but with improvements, it could be great.
Great Experience at Chateau Elan Par 3
Great course, in great condition. Fun to play with my wife, who is still learning. (Aren't we all?) My only gripe is the 9th hole. It's tee, water, green, carrying 160 yds. Not a big deal, but I had only brought a few short clubs, OK with laying up when necessary. NO laying up on this hole! :)
