Great Little Track.
Monterey Pines is a really fun course to play. It is not crazy hard, but it does have several very challenging holes. The recent renovation of the home hole from a par-4 to a par-5 was another really good change. Despite all the recent rain, the course played fast and firm.
Crowded
10:20 tee time ended up being a 11:30 tee time. I had prior obligations to be else where by 4:30pm and it was 3:50 pm when I had to end my round only allowing me to play 16 holes. I truly feel I didn't get my money's worth and the only good thing about my experience was the delicious club sandwich served from the bar and grill restaurant on site. All in all this has been my first golf experience to date.
A Pleasant Surprise
We came to Monterey to attend the golf tournament and found another reason to return this summer.
The friendly staff set up our two threesomes with a great pair of singles who gave us some insights on the idiosyncrasies of each hole. While the tournament was being postponed due to high winds, we were able to complete the entire round with pleasant conditions! The course played fairly, good shots were rewarded and poor ones hurt. The greens were manageable and fair as well. Green fees were better than reasonable , especially for this area. Looking forward to a return visit during the summer season.
Monterey Pines
We had a fun round. The course was in great condition and we finished in less than 4 hours.
Good value
Course continues to improve. Nice job recovering from the recent heavy rains. The course receives heavy play and in some ways reflects it. Multiple unprepared pitch marks on the greens and divots in the fairways. Aside from that , the greens are smooth and fast. Though short in length, it provides a good but not overwhelming challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Great visit, good golf and challenging
I can only say that my wife and I really enjoyed this course, we were paired with a couple vets who were real gentlemen and great company, we had a great time. Greens are hard to read (after all it was our first time there)
Over all it was a great time
Always in great shape
It was relatively dry for the amount of rain we've had they always keep the course in excellent condition and they seem to always improvements going on. It's a fun course to play.
Empty Sundays
Flat tee boxes, clear sky’s, good vibes. Love the value for this place.
Without notice!!!
Front nine closed.
Punch. 5/8 inches holes on the greens.
Playing only nine holes.
Hesitant to leave review…
Because I dont need any more people knowing the secret but the crew here deserves the recognition. Course conditions and location are impeccable for the price. If you’re a low handicap you’ll be more challenged by leaving your driver in your car, but otherwise a very fun course. Tees greens fairways and rough all very healthy and manicured. You’ll be hard pressed to find a course as playable as monty pines. The standard for less-than-championship-sized courses.
Hidden gym. I’ve played every course in Monterey area. By far the best value. Short course but, challenging. I’m a 4 HCP. It was a surprise to say the least.
Pace of Play
They need to get a Marshall out on the course on the weekends. DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE ON THE WEEKEND. The starter just starts who ever he wants, no flow. I never had seen a 6 some before be able to play. 10-15 min in between shots, worst experience ever. 2 hours and 20 min and I’m on hole 6. Had to walk off. When a course doesn’t seem to care why support them.
MAY Flowers into Summer JUNE
This course is my favorite of the Monterey area public courses. The layout is beautiful with some nice elevation changes on the front nine. The course isn't difficult, but it's also not easy. It's a course that'll boost your confidence providing you don't blow it with your short game. Great staff, and sufficient practice facilities before you begin play. The pace of play was good. I didn't see the Marshall, but there didn't appear for one to be necessary. Playing here during Spring and Summer months is a treat. Greens could have been a little faster.
