What you expect for the price
This 9 hole is pretty basic. All par 3's and a good way to get your short game sharpened up. The tee boxes are not maintained well and it is difficult to find an even surface to tee off from. The greens are fairly well maintained. Overall it is a cheap course to play, and you get what you pay for.
Greens are good
Good pace Very nice nine hole course has some real nice hole up hill downhill
This is a learning center
This is a local nine hole course. It is poorly maintained and owned by the Elks.
The fairways are like cow pastures and the greens are doable. It is cheap to play as a learning center. It has uphills and downhill thru out the nine.
The threesomes in front of me took their sweet time whacking. So I ended up playing two to three balls each fairways. Just for practicing on the grass instead of on the mat at the range.
I will return and use it as a learning center.
Fun course
Great short game practice. Must be precise because slopes next to greens can make your ball disappear. Not crowded
Fun short course
Great place to hone your game and excellent place for beginners. Staff is cool but snacks are way too pricey. 2 dollars for a 50 cent bag of peanuts, ouch.
Fun little course
We really like this course and have played it about a dozen or so times. We have brought others to play the course with us. It is situated in the hills making it interesting and challenging. We always rent a cart since it is a walking workout. Highly recommend giving this course a try and enjoy. Reasonable rates PS No restaurant unless you are an Elk just snacks
a fine nine
Clear and brisk the day I played but great weather nearly year round here. Great place to work on your short game under actual playing conditions. Greens receptive and fast depending on moisture content but are otherwise in great condition. Played 9 holes in less than an hour and half while walking but they now have carts available to deal with the hilly terrain. The second hole is probably the shortest, toughest par 3 in the area. If you miss the green, 4 is a good score.
9-hole Pleasurable Walk
This course is in a great mid-peninsula location and a good choice for a morning walk. It is short, nothing more than a 5 or 6 iron depending upon your game for the first few holes. PW or 9 iron for the balance. Location is prone to significant morning fog but everyone is pleasant and it is refreshingly reasonable in terms of cost. Personnel very friendly as well.
Bargain!
Great deal for the money. Hot deal is a steal. There's hiking involved, so it's not for the faint of heart. Or just rent a cart.
A great place to take beginners or a tuneup of short game
This is a 9 hole executive course meant for the 9iron, PW and putter. I have enjoyed taking my 9 yo son to teach him the lessons of golf etiquette and how to play the game. A nice relaxing pace and the staff are friendly.
You can't beat the price and the time you spend with your children there are great--no being pushed and intimidating the kids with the pace.
scenic course, rolling hills, great value
like the course, not the one staff member who is grumpy and makes you feel like you don't belong on his course (the young staff members have always been courteous).
Strange Aeration
This is a 9 hole course with a par 30. Some holes are tough but not unreasonably so. They were aerating the greens and the plugs were like the goose turds I've been seeing on the courses here (I'm from Hawaii--no geese turds). So once they finished aerating, the greens were impossible to play since the two inch deep holes of the aeration were about 3/4 of an inch in diameter. Can't putt through that. The starter was super nice and so was the setting.
Nice 9 hole Par 3 course
This is a great place to work on your short game. From the elevation changes to the small table-top greens, this place can really challenge you. The condition of the greens are ok and the tee boxes could use some work. But you can't beat their hot deal tee times! $5 for this place is a steal!
Local Course
Even though it is a short par 3 course, it is a tough walk and you can lose your balls there. Still a course I enjoy and can get in my short iron game practice.
Short game awaiting
Put away your driver, break out your irons. This course will challenge your short game.
Pretty course, well maintained. Lots and lots of hillls. Walking 18 holes was exhausting.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The course is easy, but hitting striaght was required on most holes. Most greens are on an uprise so balls a few foot off the small green would bounce 20 or 30 feet away, often leaving a difficult up hill chip.
One of the toughest course I've played as to walking it. Many hills up and down, with some steep 30 foot sections. Playing 18 holes taxed the limits of all three in my group. A cart is highly recommended. Lost a lot of balls with trees and deep grass very close to the greens.
Short game warm-up
Located in the hills above Redwood City, Emerald Hills is a very hilly short course owned by the Elks Club. I have not played here for a few years but I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course. While far from pristine, I found the greens to be in good shape. Great place to kill an hour and work on your short game.
What you'd expect
$14 for 9 holes... it's what you'd expect -- slightly rough tee boxes and shaggy greens.
For a 9 hole It's tough
This is a tough little course which is why its great to learn on. Lot's of hills for a good walk and because of it's challenging layout I've lost more balls on this course than on a 18 hole course.
