Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Blue Course
The Blue Course is one of four public courses offered at the Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills. Located in the city of Westminster, the Blue Course is a nine-hole, par-37 course that offers over 3,200 yards of golf. The nine holes of the course originally served as the front nine for another course on the premises, the Gold Course. Now, it stands alone as a regulation length nine-hole course and the Gold Course is a separate 18-hole course at the facility. Hyland Hills offers picturesque mountain views as well as finely manicured courses. Golf Digest even rated Hyland Hills' courses as part of Colorado's top 20 golf courses.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Colorado
Good, solid course without weekend rate upcharge
This is a course that we play often. We like it for a full length 9 hole round when you can't play 18 or when you mix and match with a par 3 South (tough) or par 3 North (short & easier).
The folks are always very friendly. The players on the course are more middle of the golf population, so it's less pressure. Tee 1 parallels the Gold course (18) tee 1, so you get balls crossing. Fore!. The ground early in the day is quite firm so you can get monster rollouts like 331y for my 1st 1010a drive. The greens are quite firm early too, think British bump & run until say 11 or 1130. #4 has a downhill without much resistance, so non driver is better to avoid the great shot but wet outcome of you hit hit left or draw. Baby fade. #7 is a good test of your ability to shape a shot or keep it straight! The greens roll pretty well minus goose turds. It can be fairly busy on weekends.
My wife plays here often as well, and for ladies, the red tees are long! #2 tee is angled in a challenging line unless you draw on demand.
Punch cards are good for non-residents.
Nice day for January 8th! in Colorado
Still some snow on the ground, the greens were very hard, as were the Tee boxes - could not get "T's" in the ground - but to be expected for January in Colorado. We had a very nice time. We'll come back to play again - and suppose that says it all.
Couse is great, golfadvisor is not. Course was closed due to snow. This should been noted on website. Not that difficult to do. Won"t use golf advisor again.
Good course for a regulation 9
This is probably the course we play the most. It's got everything you need for a 9 hole course. Some length, some water, some elevated greens, well placed trees, undulating greens, and a good deal with a punch card, especially the Black Friday special. Today the course was fairly firm in the fairways and on the greens, adding net distance to quite a few shots. In fact, the ice on #8 allowed you to go for it in 2 even if you didn't go too far on your drive. The grass has tolerated the snow we got fairly well. They got quite a bit of the goose droppings cleared off, too. Geese like this place. There's a good reason this course is popular for typical golfers, like us.
Peace of play was really slow. Greens were very well kept. Staff was very good, very friendly and helpful. Driving range is a bargain.
Great course, terrible pace of play
The course itself was amazing. The greens were soft, fairways forgiving, and good sand in the bunkers. However, it took 3 hours and 15 minutes to play 9 holes. This is unacceptable and the pace of play needs to be monitored more closely.
As nice as the course was my only memory is playing behind a foursome of very old, very slow people. They thought nothing of hitting a second tee shot after their first shot barely made it off the tee box. The second shot was no better. No on-course marshals or monitors. 3 hours for 9 holes on an easy course. Avoid the blue course and play the gold. Gold course caters to real golfers.
Beautiful 9-hole course
We play here frequently while in the area. Good 9-hole course that works all the clubs in my bag. Great Mountain View’s are a bonus.
Everything went very smoothly. From checking in to playing 9 holes in 1.75 hours. Course in good condition for this time of year.
Majority of reviews must be from locals
Decided to drive from downtown to try out this course based on the overall good ratings. We were deeply disappointed from the first tee box. A group (3 carts) playing on an adjacent hole was driving around on hole one looking for balls and when finding them proceeded to play as it lied thus delaying our round. Directional signs were oddly placed for hole 3 making it a bit confusing (sign placed before bridge with arrow not after making it clear that it was down the path.) At hole 3 we caught up with a 4some that made the pace of play exhaustingly slow ( waited 5-10 minutes on each hole to either tee off or approach the green) no ranger even though two more groups were backing up behind us. At hole 7 we were clearing the green on 6 they teed off then drove over to make a pit stop at the bar cart. Waiting again at 8 the group behind us caught up and the group behind them was approaching the green. 2hrs and 40 minutes to play 9? Unreasonable.
They indicate "Proper Golf Attire Required" I guess that includes blue jean's, cargo shorts, and tee shirts.
Cart paths are in horrible shape, tee boxes filled with unaddressed divots, dead spots in fairways, and non existent ranger. The bar a has a separate liquor license from the golf course so you have to either wait for the bar cart or call for service.
Only bright spot was the greens, excellent condition, very challanging and super fast.
All and all if you are thinking about driving any distance to play check out your other options.
