Monroe CC excellent choice during pandemic
Monroe CC is outside metro Gwinnett area that is now under pandemic restrictions. But very close indeed. A great choice for the exercise exemption and they have removed all rakes and issues no touch policies on flags to make it pandemic friendship etc. they took great care of us. Thank you.
Great Day at the course
Great greens - fairways are acceptable for the time-period. Would like to be able to ride single but so much play didn’t allow (we understood )
Will definitely play this course again - love it.
opportunities for birdies
The course is set up for all level of players. A Great risk and reward layout.
Greens coming on.
They had punched the greens and sanded them earlier this week but ‘tis the season and already in pretty good shape. Great staff. Very helpful
Bad winter conditions, mediocre layout
* I really didn't like the layout of this course. The fairways are too close together on most of the holes, so you end up with people on your fairway hitting back onto their own fairway. I even witnessed a near altercation between two groups, when one golfer accidentally hit another group's ball.
* The course was in pretty poor winter condition. I play a lot of winter golf, so I understand the many ways that winter golf is a different beast from summer golf - but the fairway conditions were pretty appalling. They also hadn't provided any notice that the greens were sanded and aerated. Many of the bunkers were in above average condition for the amount of rain we've had, but there were multiple greenside bunkers that were filled with water.
* The pace of play was ok, but there wasn't a starter or a ranger keeping track of the groups, which is crazy on a busy Saturday. My front 9 was very slow, but on the back 9 the groups got a bit more spaced out luckily.
I can't complain too much at $35 for a round, but I probably won't be making the trek out to Monroe to play this course again.
Today, the golf course canceled unilaterally without my consent.
Worth the ride!
I live about an hour from this course. I am glad I made the trip to play. I was told when I checked in that because of recent rain the cart path rule was in effect which was no problem. When I made the turn, a member of the staff informed me that it was O K to go to 90 degree since course was drying well. I appreciate when someone goes out of the way to make your experience at a course as accommodating as possible. Course was in great shape. Greens were “true” throughout the course. I recommend this course highly! Will definitely return.
Course drains well
We played after two days of rain and the course had no wet spots. We were expecting cart path only, but that was not the case at all.
Good day in Monroe Georgia
This course is a great example of older small town Country Club golf like I grew up with in small town Georgia. Most of the holes were wide and straight fairways with a lot of up and down to elevated greens with challenging bunkers. The elevations made it more than enough challenge. Other holes were short but with a lot of dogleg and other interesting features that provided more than enough defense. My only suggestion to the course superintendent is that the fairways need a VERY serious aeration......they are much too hard. But all in all, this was a very fair, fun and different course to play and our group will definitely go back.
Nice course
Second time playing, course is drat layout (a little on easy side), but greens roll true.
Good day, Good course, Good deal & Good people
Overall course in good shape from tee boxes to green. Some tee boxes were hard & difficult to get tee in ground. Got excellent deal off a golf booking website. Water cold in coolers on a hot day. Left a club behind & mentioned to individual in clubhouse. Someone found, turned into clubhouse, they called me to pick up. Thanks. Recommend as a fun older course
Challenging shots to elevated greens
Add 2 clubs for most uphill shots. Maybe 3 if into the wind. Greens are undulating and challenging but in great condition.
