Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses
Henderson has improved dramatically
I played here a year ago and found no reason to return
It was awful
Well I was corrected this weekend
I heard about a much improved course
Granted this will help the course a ton and it’s well deserved
If you try this course you’ll be so impressed and play here a ton
This place is a go to spot in the Savannah area. Well over Bacon,Wilmington ,Savannah Harbor and any of the Hilton Head courses when you consider travel, greens fees ,pace of play.
I’ve played a lot of courses in the area and around Hilton Head
The value for this place is worth it
A challenging course from the blues
The black tees are clearly for those with a handicap of less than a 7
Prior they were horrible and now even after the snow of 2018 they are in a private club condition
Go to Henderson but please play quickly
I'm continuously surprised by the money spent and improvements Henderson continues to make. Even though I was rained out after 12 holes, I saw new concrete just poured.
The greens are slow but roll great. There are still problem areas but this is the best shape I have ever seen this course in 9 years. Give it a try.
This course has a great layout
This is a very nice golf course for the price excellent green if it's windy is it very difficult but it's a great place to play
Best Value In the Lowcountry
Great price for the course. Course is looking great and now with food at the turn!
I have seen steady progress at Henderson this year. I usually give them 3 stars for an overall rating but with the improvements lately I am happy to move that up one.
The grooming of the course is one reason, the constant activity of the employees and the addition of opening the snack bar shows someone is serious about making Henderson a "go-to" place to play.
Kudos to whoever that is.
Great course with awesome food now! Staff is friendly and the prices are unbeatable.
No aerification warning
I had no issue with the course but someone dropped the ball in notifying GolfNow that the course had just punched their greens the day before.
Granted I paid nothing for the round (code used) but I would have paid $10 more to go somewhere else. I gave myslf two putts on every green but would have liked to know the condition of the course.
I have seen advisories listed on tee times that state the course's condition. I hope Henderson adheres to this next time.
the course is a mess. no grass in the fairways, the greens are atrocious. the sand was poor to okay, depending on the hole. Really disappointing to pay anything for a course in this bad shape.
the owners need to have a real reckoning and decide to "fix it" or "close it". I would recommend NOT playing this place until they change, which might takes years, if ever.
The ultimate college golf course
Greatest value. Greens are decent. Fairways are hard. Not a lot of good places to lay up. Henderson is a great college golf course.
Course is a value course. You get what you pay for. Needs a million dollar renovation it still a great place to golf.
Not a bad course, they’ve came a long way from where it what’s the greens are much better
Better than expected
I read other reviews before purchasing a tee time here, but took a chance. I have to say the course was in much better shape than many of the other reviews mentioned. Credit to the guys in charge for greening up the tee boxes and taking care of the fairways and greens. For the price it’s definitely one of the best values in the area and by summer should be a great course to play. My only complaint would be the condition of the bridges on the course. Because of the layout, players on a different hole will cross a bridge that will rattle incredibly loud while you’re playing on a different hole.
The Most Entertaining Course I've Played.
This a beautiful course with lightening fast greens, plenty of challenge, enough water to be interesting, and a delightful amount of wildlife. The greens are much faster and even than the municipal courses I'm used to playing, but that was a pleasure. It's a rather flat course but that's offset by well protected greens, fairway bunkers and water hazards. In addition to the golf, the beautiful natural setting has plenty of wetland wildlife.
Henderson is getting better as the weather improves. Traps are maintained but greens are a little spotty and some tees need grass.
Keep it up and the course will be one to play all summer.
Have played pga courses and other less popular courses. The staff were all excellent. The other golfers on the course could give proper etiquette lessons to many others at more affluent courses. My wife and I truly enjoyed the day. We are members of a private club in Virginia, and while the overall condition of the course may be slightly below the private clubs I would caution the golf snobs to not be so critical. This is indeed a fine challenge of golf.
