Golf now price - excellent! Course was nice challenge.
Other reviews complained about some conditions but only found 16th green to be very sandy. Good variety of needed approach shots and some interesting undulating on several of the greens.
Much better but still needs work.
The course has come a long way since the new operators took over. But the greens and many bunkers still require work. Of course, they took over a course that should have been closed it was so very bad. For the money it is well worth it though.
Thank for understanding the amount of work that Henderson has undergone and the condition it was in two years ago. Yes, we still have some work to do to bring it up to Gallea Golf Properties standards, but overall are happy with it's recovery. We look forward to seeing you in the future.
Great Improvements here. If you haven't played Henderson lately, you're missing out!
Still not perfect but this course is so vastly improved over a couple of years ago that it is going to be on my regular play list. The hard work they've put in is everywhere on the course, in the clubhouse and even in the staff.
Can't wait to bring more friends here.
Thank you for your wonderful and honest feedback!
not impressed
I've tried to think of some of the good things that came out this round, but there aren't any that come to mind. It's hard not to forget the waist high weeds/grass/trees etc. growing out of some of the bunkers. It seemed like the course abandoned for while. The strange thing about the lack of sand in the bunkers was the abundance of sand on the 17th green. I've never seen anything quite like it, a green that was almost 80% covered in sand.
...now that I think about it, there was once good thing about the round - there was no one else out there slowing me down. I guess everyone in the area knows not to play there.
I am sorry to read your comments. We have been eliminating and sanding bunkers as fast as economically possible over the past two years. Regarding the 17th green we do aerate and sand the greens more often than other courses due in order to quickly heal them. Henderson has made vast improvements over the last couple years and will continue to enhance its appearance over the next year. I invite you to visit us in the future to see the improvements.
Course has some challenging holes from all tee boxes.
Fun course to challenge you and make you think where to hit it. Nice layout and loved the par 3's. Enough water to make it interesting but playable. Staff is working hard to maintain and improve course conditions.
Thank you for your comments!
Groups need to be marshalled!
Course was in great shape. After 9 holes of literally not seeing any other groups, when we got to the 10th tee there was three foursomes on the hole. The foursome in front of us had obviously started on 10 because the group we were behind was in front of them! This group also played like beginners and were painfully slow. There is no marshal on this course and it could definitely use one.
The Greens on the back nine need a Great deal of repair & the Sand Traraps are Awfely Bad shape
The course was wet in most areas due to one inch of rain the night befor But it played OK.
New management is moving the course in the right direction
The new owners are effectively addressing the maintenance issues that plagued this course; there were, however several bunkers on the course that looked as though they have not been tended to in months, as if the new owners will eventually eliminate them. If that's the case, they should be marked as "GUR" or as unplayable areas, and drop areas provided.
It is August, and it is South Georgia...PUT SOME WATER JUGS ON THE COURSE!!! Not a single one out there, and no drink cart (Wednesday afternoon). Granted, the 2 16 ounce water bottles in the cart were nice, but those were sweated out as soon as they were consumed. This is a serious thing, as a person with certain medical conditions could really get into dire conditions without ANY water jugs on the entire course.
The course was in real good shape, water features and narrow fairways provide some challenges.
I have played this course a few times, it was in the best condition I've seen. It can be challenging and have risk/ reward features. If you can make shots, you will be in good shape. The greens in the putting aspect can be tough, but most golfers play just for that factor. Real good experience!
Great bang for your buck
We booked a tee time through golfNow.com and only paid $25 to ride 18. This course was a TON of fun and well maintained. The ride from Tybee Island (45 minutes) was well worth it!
Great features
This course was very good. Excellent shape. Not very long but some holes are challenging. Great bang for your buck!
Course is well kept and great atmosphere.
Course was great. Only thing that kept me from giving a 5 star rating was the fact that there were 4 people waiting at hole 1 at the start of our tee time. They could have spaced us out even just a bit.
Great course for the cost
Definitely worth the money. Nice course and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
It is a good value for the Golfnow price
The course is hard on a duffer. You lose many balls. You must be able to drive the ball a long way, for an older golfer, just to clear the waste areas in front of the tee boxes. They need a ranger to keep the course moving. We had a threesome ahead of us that was backing up the entire course.
If you play this course and are not a long accurate golfer you need to leave your patience at home and bring lots of golf balls.
Greens need work, fairways in excellent condition. A fine course overall.
Overall, a fine coures. Fairways fine. Greens need work.
Great little course
My friends and I came from Ala. to play in Savannah. We could of played a nicer course and spent a ton of money but we couldn't have had a better time. Henderson is a challenge and a lot of fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Save your money from those expensive courses. These guys have their ducks in a row!
GREENS LITTLE BUMPY, SOME BAD SPOTS ALONG THE SIDE OF THE FAIR WAYS
THE COURSE HAS GREAT FEATURES. THE STAFF WAS GREAT
Greens need work
First time using the course, enjoyed the round. Only concern was the condition of the greens, most in poor shape, very frustrating while putting putts that are makeable. Will return and try again, if greens don't improve, might have to try other courses.
GREAT COURSE
I had a blast out there!!!! the greens a spotty in some places but if you play there a couple of times you will know where you need to hit your ball. the staff is great and the prices are outstanding. overall great course I will be going there more often
Good Value
Arizona golfer just looking to play a Georgia course after attending the Masters on Monday. GPS pointed me to this course and I stopped by the pro shop to check about getting out. No problem, green fees including a cart with 2 cool drinks - 24 dollars. Smoking deal as far as I was concerned.
The course is very well laid out and scenic. The condition is spotty to say the least. I've never seen greens this bad before. I think this a course that needs to be played a couple of times to figure out where you should hit the ball. A couple of times I hit good drives that ended up in trouble I couldn't see from the tee. I had trouble adjusting to the distance my ball was flying and was over a lot of greens and in trouble.
All that said, I'd play it again tomorrow for 24 dollars.
Thank you for taking the time to comment! We have had problems with 16 green this year due to algae growth from a late, wet spring. You may have noticed the temporary green being built when you played. Otherwise, the greens are aerated more often at Henderson, thus the sand, to try to heal them as quickly as possible. The course has come a long way in two years!
