Alright but hopefully not best Savannah has to offer.
Ok so I just moved here and this is the second course I have played. Course was ok fairways decent but not very well maintained. Greens for most part were good a few molded areas and very slow to me (might just be the region). Tee boxes were very poor little to no grass and very hard to get a tee in some of them. Club house was horrible, I don't think they ever clean the rest rooms. I almost always but something usually a shirt from every course I play but very little in stock and they weren't planning on restocking until the fall. Staff was friendly but I really hope I find a better course to play soon.
Henderson has a good track
I played this course regularly when it was fairly new. I have always loved the features of the layout, but too many details are unattended too. The bunkers are packed to near hard-pan, basic grooming is sloppy. On the good side, I was playing with a brand new golfer and the course was wide open.
Must Play Course in Pooler/Savannah
I play this course every time I come to Pooler/Savannah to visit my son. Because of the spread out layout, each hole feels private. There are no distractions from players on other holes. I am not a long hitter, but I could (potentially) reach every green in regulation except one from the white tees. The greens are smooth and have a moderate speed, but are not scary fast. Errant tee shots can go into the woods that line many of the fairways, but the fairways are not narrow shoots--they are wide enough to stay out of trouble. Plus there is a nice driving range and putting green. And how nice that cold bottled water is already stocked in the ice-filled coolers on each cart. With the quality of the course, the very friendly staff and the price, you will enjoy this course.
Challenging yet forgiving.
If you play this course from the tips it is very difficult. Many narrow landing areas for tee shots and fairways were in good condition. Some of the greens could of been better but overall a nice value for the mine.
Henderson is a Nice weekend round
Very nice course, needs more F&B selections. Staff was great
I liked the course!
#11 if you hit a long ball from the tips beware of ground under repair you could easily be in it. Fairways are hard they need to be plugged or something to soften them up some. I enjoyed it, greens were bumpy but I played them well. It looks like they have been putting time and effort in the greens maybe fairways could get some work next.
Good course
Played this this course to warm up for Hilton Head, great challenge, green are in good shape.
diamond in the rough
heard about the golf course from a friend and decided to play with him after after he got a tee time on golf now .com . the course i heard was bought by crosswinds and was being renovated.the greens were aerated about ten days ago ,little bumpy but still could read and put. greens were some of the best i played on this year . the only negative is the sand traps, they need a lot of work . hope they continue on the right path and keep putting money were its needed. I will be back .
Much Improved from Years ago
Course is much improved from when I played years ago. Greens had airification a couple of weeks ago. They were a little bumpy, but not bad. Very interesting layout made it somewhat challenging
Good for the money
Play here pretty regularly when it's cheap. The greens were pretty sandy. The bathroom always smells like urine. There is no cafe/clubhouse open, and no cart girl. Plenty of hard hazards on the course. Fairways in good shape.
Very good day of golf
The price was very fair. The main driving range was roped off the day that we played so everyone was squeezed into a very small area to warm up. The staff were very accommodating and the club house was very clean. The course was in very good shape except for hole 11 which had a huge construction project right in the middle of the fairway. Lucky for me I never end up there. Overall the course was very nice and I will visit it again.
Not a 4 star golf course
This in no way is a 4 star golf course.
Like a previous review said dosent look like it has been taken care of in a while. They are loosing there greens and the drainage is terrible. Bunkers and small things not taken care of at all.
No dress code saw 2 people with tank tops on.
Staff was great though.
I woils not pay to play here
In Need of Upkeep
I heard they had a rainy winter and the course looked like very little work has been done in quite some time.
Fairways were OK, but not great - many bare spots and areas in need of reseeding. Most greens were very good and challenging. Cart paths (and those who don't know when/how to stay on them) in need of repairs......tire tracks everywhere.
Never saw a starter, ranger, cart cleaner or anyone working on the course.
We have played there twice a year when making an early Spring trip and we were quite disappointed this year. If it does not improve we will not be coming back (no matter how good the green fees could be).
Great time
Course staff was great! Course played very well...especially considering it rained quite a bit.
Wish they had more concessions, but overall a great value. Will def be back!
So So
More expensive than I expected but this was my first outing since the course was taken over by new management. Should be a great course someday.
Henderson GC
Windy chilly day. Course in OK condition just coming out of winter months. Rained the day before so the course was wet and very wet on some fairways. Should of been cartpath only on atleast half the holes, unfortunately saw some pretty bad cart marks from some idiots. Tees and fairways OK but grass not growing in yet, bunlers good, greens still haven't started to grow in yet but rolled OK but not great. Course layout can play tough if your not driving the ball well which was the case for me today. Seemed like all the par fours were all dogleg left except 1, easy to add 20 - 30 yards to approaches while hitting unwanted fades. I really like the difficulty of the layout which penalized the poor shot. Recommend, close to I-95 for the travelling golfers like myself.
Much Better Than Before
The management company that handles Henderson GC prior to the current one pretty much let the place go down hill. The folks that are managing the course obviously care about the integrity of the game because the course is looking great for the amount of time they've had it. Two years ago I swore I would not go back. Now I can see this being my course of choice again. 5 sets of tee boxes, good layout and true greens make it hard to beat. You really get to use all of your clubs here as a few holes call for ball placement vs bombing all the time.
Great course, especially for the price
I played this course this past Wednesday, which was an absolutely gorgeous day and thoroughly enjoyed my round. The course was in great shape for mid January. I would recommend this course to anyone passing through Savannah or anyone who calls Savannah home.
Nice course if dried out
The course was really soggy. Felt like I was playing in the rough all the time. You could see where the course had been flooded and there was all kinds of debris in the fairways. Ball would be buried lots of times in fairway account so wet.
