Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Usually a great place to play. I played a month ago and condition were fine. Now greens are chewed up and some dead spots and the bunkers were like concrete. P
Overall great but bunkers need work
My son and I really enjoyed this course. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice range to warmup on. Postage stamp size greens, but depending on your preference that's either good or bad. Course is deceptively moderately difficult. Some tough par 3's and oddly shaped holes that can balloon the score. we golfed at 11:30 on a Saturday with nice weather. Round was 4 hours. Maybe we got lucky by reading other reviews but our only backups were on a couple par 3's and 5's. It seemed like the course was full of fast golfers though. Minimal practice swings, and no treasure hunters looking for balls for a long time. OK the one negative. Course is heavily bunkered but they were like cement. High approach shots that found the bunker actually reacted like they hit the cart path. Now I have rule that if the bunkers are like that I just pull the ball out. Works for me but maybe not others. Staff did say the reason was the recent bad storms that blew through and washed away good sand. We'll definitely be back, so we'll see. Very nice golfing experience.
Old Goats at Old Oaks...
Older golfers, golf leagues, tee box waits of 15 minutes. Forget about establishing a rhythm. Just bring a book or use your phone to binge watch as you wait to hit your tee shot and second shot. Rangers can't do much, as management booked golf leagues because other courses closed down in the area. You should play earlier before the leagues. If you play during league play, be patient or choose other options. Great layout and challenging but a long walk spoiled.
Due to a rainy day, one of our party couldn’t play. Would not issue a rain check or credit.
Pace of play was not Ok
nice course and people, but pace of play painfully slow at 5+ hours We started on 10 and finished on 1 - 9

few tee boxes very used. Nice course week definitely play a few times more this year
