This course has challenging holes.

This course is a real value for what you get. This course is short but challenging. We can get very good deals for a greens fee and a cart. Usually no play in front of us and no one pushing from behind. Several holes are laid out to be very challenging. My favorite hole would be 18, it's an island. The course has been under construction every time I played it this summer. Overall I like this course and hate to recommend it because it's my little secret course.

My Experience

This had to be the worst course I have ever played. this being a par 66 course you would think it would be a nice time to take your grandchildren out for a good time well that was far from that. The fairways where so bad you had a hard time to find your ball and the rough was like a cow pasture without any cows to keep the grass short. We played and all 4 of us had to spend time looking for our balls because of the high grass. So we had people behind us all the time and kept letting them play through. 3 + hours for 9 holes. I paid for 18 but with such disappointment I went inside and told the lady that I was not playing the other nine because of the course conditions. Her replay was sorry to hear that. So i would never recommend this course to my worst enemy. The worst golf experience in my life time.

Challenging shorter course

This is a great shorter course with a premium on accuracy. Many of the par 3's are absolutely brutal if you don't land the green. Water on 3, 9, 14, and 18 create do or die shots. The par 5 sixth hole is a legitimate par 5 that usually takes 3 shots for even decent golfers to sniff the green. If you're a big hitter, all of the par 4's are drivable. It's a good idea to bring extra balls, as this course can eat quite a few if you're even off by just a bit. For the money, this is the best course in the area.

Bad Course, Only Play if on a Budget

Overall the course is pretty bad. You cant tell where the fairways are, the only positive is that the greens were in decent shape but were very spongy making it difficult to putt. There are numerous holes that have trees right in the middle making it nearly impossible to make a good tee shot. The back 9 is all par 3's except for 2 par 4's. Overall I was pretty dissatisfied, I wont be golfing here again unless I want to golf on a very cheap budget.

This is a great game to work on your short game. If you aren't sharp, you can lose a lot of golf balls.

Good value

In need of some serious tree trimming. On 4 holes trees either somewhat blocks the tee shot or actually do block the tee shot. Also, several holes, the trees shade the green to such a degree that the grass does not grow properly. The tree trimming would go a long way toward serious improvements to the course. Also, a scheduled program over time, to plant zoysia or bermuda grass would be great. Then it would be really fun.

decent value

They offer unlimited golf after 2 which makes it worth it if you are wanting to play more than 18 otherwise it's probably not worth the 20+ dollars

Unique, Fun Round of Golf

Challenging little 18 hole track that offers many unique features you won't find anywhere else in the KC metro, especially the peninsula green on #18. Could use a little more grass on the tee boxes but overall the course is in great shape and an outstanding value.

Great Value

First timer at Oak Country.

Best quality for the cost. There are a few clover patches that can hide the ball, however the conditions are pretty nice. No sandtraps, yet plenty of water hazards.

Each hole is different and the course is very unique from any other in KC.

Tight/dirty parking lot on rainy days. Back 9 is extremely short.

Other than that...it is a great place for any golfer that doesn't want to wait for a tee time!

Keep your driver at home

Fairly decent course, pretty shirt. Only used my driver once. Course requires some strategy on holes to lay up on or go for it. Trees every where but not an issue if you play the fairways. Several holes use severe elevation change to add to their difficulty. Staff was really nice and the beer was really cold.

Great valued course!

This course is tucked away in one of De Soto's secluded developments. The course requires the utmost accuracy to avoid numerous creeks, ponds, and horribly placed trees. The strategy required to successfully avoid these obstacles does create a very fun experience. The fairways and tee boxes need some attention, but the greens are fairly good. The price for 18 holes with a cart makes Oak Country a great value though. You would be hard pressed to find similar conditions anywhere in the KC area for the same price. Definitely give it a shot.

Not worth your time

The course is in need of immediate attention, greens are in awful condition. We were teeing off and up popped a sprinkler head and started spraying. This occurred on 3 different holes and it was mid day. We didn't even finish our game. Very disappointed. Won't be going here again.

Fairways & Greens Need Some Work

Couldn't beat the price of $15 for 18 holes. The course has always been challenging, but playing it on a holiday, made it even more so with many other golfers. The staff are SUPER NICE and were very helpful in providing some extra balls/tees on the turn. I can honestly say that I have not lost as many balls as I did at Oak Country in the last 3 years!!! The rough and fairways were in bad shape, and you couldn't find your ball unless you were right on top of it! Would play it again, especially if the price is right!!!!

Staff great but some golfers....?

Played the back nine 1st and everything was great until I reached the #1 hole and found that I had left my pitching wedge fromt my new set back at a previous green.
Stopped in to ask the staff and they were very helpful but no one had turned in the club.
So I back tracked to try and find it and some guys said they saw a guy that said he found a club but when a found him and asked he denied it. So, someone lifted it! Man! What happened to ethics on the golf course!! I nor any of the gentlemen I play with would ever do that!
After that I became discoraged and didn't even finish the game!

Maintenance needed!!!

This course could be a very nice track... a lot of imaginative and creative holes with many doglegs and a island green next to a silo!! But the course looks as though it has not seen any care. Fairways and greens, believe it or not, are hard-packed mud with patchy areas of grass. Greens need to be re-done and fairways need to be re-sodded!!! There is a reason this course is only costing $10 for 18 holes, including cart!!!
