Worth every penny.
We heard about this course's attitude concerning emergency responders, veterans, and law enforcement personnel and wished to support their efforts. While the course is not a favorite of mine, it is good enough and playing it helped me feel I was doing something good for others. Truly, a feel-good experience. Keep it going and good luck!
Not a Memorable Course
Some very challenging holes but the greens are tiny and mega slow. The opening hole is a joke. They are not maintaining the course. The bunkers have little sand and some have weeds growing in them. The back tee boxes are being abandoned. The original water hazards are gone, and the fairways are shaggy. In some spots the grass is so high the golf ball can be hard to find. They also bumped our fee when we got there saying Golf Now had underpriced the tee time. Scenic, but poorly maintained. There are better courses to play for the money.
You need to manage your round but, the course is fair to the average golfer
Overall an above average course with the friendliest staff of any course I have played
Love the Support!
Overall it was a good time at Deer Creek. It is Awesome the support the Management gives to the Veterans, Police, Firefighters & EMT's. I will play there again because of the Owner's commitment and her operations.
The course could use some care - i.e. sand traps restored, T receptacles at the t-Boxes. But this takes our support also!!! Support this owner who supports our veterans, whereas in turn we should support her monetarily. Why not us? Someone has the means to make this a destination.
Slow Greens
Course is under new ownership. They are eliminating some of the black tees and the bunkers are not being maintained. I got this round at a bargain price from Golf Now, and based on that I could not expect much. However, this course has never had great greens, and they are tiny. Some holes are tough, some are easy. Not one of my favorites because of tiny, slow, bumpy greens.
Good all around golf fun
The course is great for anyone who just wants to get out and play 18 holes on a beautiful day. Plenty of challenges but also just straight shots down the fairways. Book fast though because this course will fill up. Very enjoyable time and the staff is amazing. You will come back I promise you.
Nope
I got lost trying to find the place (lady at clubhouse wasn't really sure where I was and told me opposite directions than mapquest) once I arrived I was really confused where the first hole was, looked like it had not been taken care of or mowed in awhile maybe due to the weather turning a little cold. Greens had debris like sticks and holes all over the place. The place has potential to be nice but would need some work, only way I would play it again would be if it was 15 for 18 riding, otherwise I won't be back. I don't like giving bad reviews but I think it's warranted here.
veterans
Great place for first responders and veterans. I love what they are trying to do here.
New Managment...
I have been to Deer Creek a handful of times now over the course of about 2.5 years. Yesterday was the last time I will ever be back. I know the course has been under new management for quite a while now but it doesn't seem like any improvements have been made( I did notice they have new signs on each hole!!! This would be the last thing I take care of. I would worry more about the actual condition of the course first!) The greens are burnt up, patchy and retardedly slow. The tee boxes are un-level, rocky/rooty and not manicured. The course is in all-a-round terrible condition, even down to the scorecard! Bunkers looked more like gravel instead of sand and fairways were super narrow due to overhanging trees. This seemed to be one of the nicer courses, in it's hay day, but as of now it is one of the worst courses I have ever been to. The course was difficult, not because of the layout but because of the condition that it was in. I WOULDN'T PLAY THIS COURSE FOR FREE!!
Work in progress
The back 9 is so much better than the front. Greens were slow and burned up in places. Staff was friendly and working hard on the course. Good value for the money. Challenging getting to course due to road closures and construction. There is a new bridge that must be found on hwy 30 to avoid long waits and backtracking. Unfortunately I didn't find it and spent extra 60 minutes trying to locate course. I'll come back in the fall to try again.
Noble cause
I would recommend this course to everyone because all firemen, police officers, and military ( active or retired ) play for a reduced rate.
Nice round of golf
Fairways great some greens need a little work but they are working on them. Enjoyed this course for a Monday morning.
Bait and switch
The round was advertised on Golf Now at $ 16.00 per player. When I booked the round it was $ 25.00 per player plus the Golf Now fee. Then when we paid at the course we paid $ 36.00 per player. I like Deer Creek Golf Course and have played golf there numerous times. I was disappointed that the price per player for the round kept changing. But in the end we had a good time and the course was in reasonable condition.
unfortunately, not worth the drive...
It is a shame what has happened to this once well maintained course (20yrs ago). I experienced a greeting that was unfriendly at best. She couldn't hide the apparent contempt for golfnow customers. Then she proceeded to condescendingly lecture me on proper golf course behavior. This was not a good mental start to my round. She treated me as if I were a blue jean wearing hillbilly golfer. Not very welcoming at all! She is lucky that I drove 20+ miles to come to the course. The condition was pathetic! Sparse grass on the un-level tee boxes... Bunkers that may have had sand 20 years ago...and over all most of the holes were of very poor design. Since I paid a modest fee via golfnow, I got about what I paid for. If I had paid full price, I would be very disappointed. Even with the low price, the poor customer service and ungroomed course will prevent me from suggesting this course to any fellow golfer.
Great value
Great course and inexpensive! Very friendly staff. Clubhouse under renovation.
Needs a professional greens keeper
Course in desperate need of attention all around from tee boxes to greens. I know it's under new management now and hopefully they can pull it back to the course it once was but gonna take some work.
Average course terrible staff and amenities
Ok course. Fair at best. Terrible staff and no amenities. Price is cheap though. Good course for a beginner.
Great course for the money
If you can get a price around $25 for 18 holes it is worth it. Fairways and rough were fine but the greens were rolling very slow. Average difficulty.
Awful course conditions and terrible experience.
This is was the first and last time my group will have played this course. It's a complete joke. There isn't even a place to buy new balls and tees. Upon lining up a chip on hole 5 a greens keeper pulls up in a golf cart ten feet from me directly in my line to the hole claiming he needs to water the greens or they'll die. Told me I can play another day when I asked him what the he was doing. Two holes later on a par 3 we all landed on the green only to walk up and half to finish under two sprinklers running. On top of this, there aren't even signs guiding players to holes, instead the cart paths are spray painted with directions. In short, I guess you get what you pay for here. Friendly staff though.
overall condition
The greens where absolutely unplayable because they where so long. We got to hole 12 a storm moved in with thunder an lightning rain. Got back to the clubhouse asked for a rain check for 9 holes an was told no because it had quit raining. As it was still lightning. Will never go back
