Very scenic and fun to play
I am an average golfer and this course was very challenging for me. Most of the holes have thick woods on both sides of the fairway. I lost ten balls but had a lot of fun. Enjoy its worth it
Great Course
This course is in great shape. It can be challenging if you play from the Blue or Black tees. Greens were a little slow this time, but usually are a little faster.
You should play this course
This is a very nice course. It has a lot of interesting holes where you cross creeks or ditches a couple times and require placement shots. Course is in excellent shape, a little wet because of all the rain, but aside from that it was a joy to play. Some of the fairways were so good it felt like carpet. Nice.
Absolutely beautiful course
Had seen this course on Golfnow for a while and am so disappointed that I waited so long to play here. This course is an absolute GEM!!! Keep 'em straight.
Nice but not great
Played 08/24/14 early as there was a tournament later. The course was soggy although it hadn't rained in a few days. It gets a lot of play and it shows. Un-repaired divots and pitch marks everywhere. Fixed at least 3 on every green. Considering when we teed off, I would have expected a faster round. The other thing I didn't like was the forced lay-up holes. Big hitters won't enjoy that, especially the par 5. Clubhouse is great and the staff were more than friendly. Overall it's worth trying but I wouldn't go back
Well maintained course
Always enjoy to play this course. It has always been well maintained and managed. The course has also very good practice facilities and above average dining.
cherry creek
the course was in beautiful shape pace of play was excellent 4 hours flat. 18th hole is one the best closing holes in metro detroit thanks to golf now you cant beat the price.
Excellent Value
My husband and I played this course. Course was in great shape with the exception of one tee off block on one of the Par 3 holes. Would definitely play here again!
Surprising pace of play, finally
I have avoided CC because of the near five hour rounds. Today, despite a Saturday 12 Noon start. Our foursome came in at 4:09. Our only wait was on 18. Greens have improved since earlier this season. I shot an 88 with four holes accounting for +10.
primo course
This course is a gem. Perfect condition. Mint fairways. Very good greens. Just a bit slowish. Definitely on the to do again list. Many forced carry tee shots. Imperative that you can get the ball airborne off the tee. Zero forgiveness for any ground balls. Lol.
Pretty nice
I enjoyed Cherry Creek - a great layout and some very challenging holes. Course condition was excellent, although very low lying and wet most everywhere. Greens were very slow. The sister course of Shepherds Hollow, it isn't nearly as nice but doesn't cost nearly as much to play. Worth it if you can get a discounted rate (as I did). Finally, the one bunker I was in was hard-packed mud - not good!
Good condition
I played an early morning round, the course was great. The course is pretty tough. If your driver is off line you will have some problems. Play smart and you can score on this course.
not worth the course rate but good
Purchased a great deal but I would not pay the going rate they are asking. The course is beautiful but they pile way to many people on to the course at one time and you cant play the way you want to play
Cherry Creek
The course was a bit wet from all the rain. Our starter Ron was the best, very personable. The course is very lucky to have a staff member like this.
Utter Disbelief in Service
What a terrible day (going to be somewhat of a rant but at the same time completely fair)...
Show up to the course about an hour early to hit Cherry Creek's range and practice facility (hands down one of the best in the area) - multiple chipping & putting greens with real rough and sand bunkers. Our tee time is at about 1:00 and we get to the tee box at about 12:30ish to check in (twosome). Ranger was older gentleman and awesome - lets us go out as the foursome hadn't shown up who was supposed to go. Group in front of us is hacking it up/drinking/12 practice swings per hack and has about a 2-3 hole gap in front of them - we are waiting on every tee box with them as they tee off and they will not let us pass (ranger drove by 5-6x and watches us then moves on), so we ask if we can skip a hole then come back and obviously are told no by the ranger. Fast forward to 4:30 (4 hours) we are finally making the turn. It starts to thunderstorm so we go to get our raincheck for 9 holes - and they give you a cash credit for the holes you have left which in our case is 8 (i dont see how i am going to play 8 holes? but besides the point) I am then told since we used group golfer we can call them and they can deal with it - mind you the whole time getting snarky attitude b/c "we used groupgolfer". Now groupgolfer says they are the only course like this and every other course just cuts you a raincheck but they have to contact Cherry Creek now so that Cherry Creek can now get me the rain check. Just overall poor attitude by the staff acting like it is a private track when in reality it is public.
FYI if you do play - get sandwich on the turn they made to order.
Rant over :)
Great course
We had a great time. The golf now app provided us with an opportunity to play an amazing course. The course was in great Shape
Great Design, Poor Conditions`
While I love the design of the course, the conditions were just god awful for what I payed for. The greens were burnt out and did not role true. While I love the pace of the greens, I think that CCGC needs to start thinking about the health of their greens before trying to have them roll at country club speeds.
I will not be returning until the conditions improve, and I hope they do!
A stalwart of northeastern Metro Detroit golf.
A mainstay for us living in the northeastern suburbs of Detroit. The practice facility alone is basically legendary and has everything you need to work on every aspect of your game. As for the course, it's a bit tricky, or some might even call quirky. Favor accuracy over distance off the tee every time there's trouble in play. Even from the tips, it's not that long of a course, so keep driver in the bag most of the time unless you're like Steve Stricker and hit it on a clothesline every time. The back nine is the more scoreable of the 2, but only if you play it correctly. This means, especially for the longer hitters, KEEP THE DRIVER IN THE BAG! Was that clear enough? I would only ever consider taking it out on #18, but that's a very tight tee-shot, and a risky shot going for it in 2. With that being said, this course will always have a special place in my heart because I was fortunate enough to make an albatross 2 on #18 a couple years ago. Best golfing moment of my life, and one of the most treasured period. Overall to rap this up, if you keep the ball in play and play all of the par-5s as 3-shot holes, then you'll save yourself countless strokes and frustration. Play smart and enjoy!
Oh Baby!
Instantly loved this place. Greens were slow, but course was wet from a storm. Can't wait to go back.
Best 5th of July
Last minute booking after having to work in the morning on the 5th. Weather was wonderful, Paired up with a great pair for the front and was just the tow off us on the back. Staff very friendly and informative and kept the pace of play good even though every busy...Best Round of the year for me...
