Course of last resort
So it was Father's Day and I waited too long to book a tee time at a quality course. This is all I could get for the early morning. I live close to Beckett and it is good for a quick nine hole round.
The course is in awful condition. It gets worse every time. The rough hadn't been cut in a while. You can lose several balls in it. The club house with the rotting ceiling tiles adds to the décor.
You get what you pay for...but there were fivesomes and sixsomes out there which greatly hurt the pace of play. There are no rules at Beckett.
Again this is close to home - that' s the only good thing I have to say. I give up trying to give it another chance. Time to move on.
Frustrating
Very hard to find your ball just off the fair way. Made f r a very frustrating day.
Vastly improved
I've been playing this course since the 1980s and this is the best condition it's ever been in.
Rainy day
The course held up considering it was mostly raining all morning !!!
Late December round
As expected for this time of year, a frost delay bunched up the players. Once play started there was a little bit if a wait for some. I was fortunate to be the first out on one of the three 9 hole courses. Course was in good condition for "after season" play. Since the past two snowfalls, I can't expect it to be in the same condition.
Some Nice Hole Design, But feels like a dive bar
Beckett has some nice hole designs, some cool dog legs, with different elevations. However; from the pro shop to the carts to even some of the greens it feels like your local dive bar. Price is not really all that good (unless you get a hot deal) for the condition of the course. As far as holes go, there is a lot of space to use your driver or 3 wood, but few opportunities to use a long iron. Not too much hole diversity. Tree roots are coming up all over the cart path. Some of the greens are a little burnt out (though I did go in the fall). Overall, golfnow.com should get in with Town and Country Golf which is only 10 minutes away and feels like a country club.
Laid back course
If you're looking for a laid back 18, this course is just that. Some golfers were wearing jeans, we had to wait for about 10 minutes after our tee time for a cart to become available, etc. But the course was fairly well maintained and the $12 deal from golfNow made it worth it.
Good value.
Nice course, but always have difficulty booking directly online w/ GolfNow. Always have to call.
I do not recommend this course. It needs some attention
Course was not in good shape. Clubhouse was a shack in horrible shape. Not much else to say except go somewhere else.
great value but course is in need of some attention
very glad we got the discount through golfnow - course needs alot of work
Not too friendly staff
The course was fair but the older woman at the front desk wouldn't take the money from my hand. Instead she insisted that I place the money on the counter. She was not friendly at all and that will be the last dollar they get from me.
Good for beginners
The red and white course was is good condition...the fairways were hard and the ball really rolled making tee shots a little longer than average.
Fun challenging course
Front nine (blue) greens were just aerated the day before. Conditions a little rough. Back nine (red) conditions were excellent. Challenging yet fun course from beginner through scratch player. Didn't get a chance to play other nine (white). Will be back to play the course again.
27 holes/3 courses. Pick your 2 courses wisely.
I would recommend the Red first (played great) and then the White course (hear its up to par). The Blue one is atrocious and not well maintained at all. Avoid that at all costs.
Great course for a beginner or a seasoned player
Don't know if it was the weather or the course, I had a great day playing golf there. First time playing there, had a hard time reading the course. Take a map with you.
you pay for what u get.great layout,,poor condition
grat layout ,but in very poor condition. usually in good shape, till june, then it gets no maintenance
Trapped in the 80's
A buddy of mine & myself found this course through a Groupon. It was a decent deal so I snagged one to try it out. I guess I should have done my homework first. We made the commute from Philly and were immediately met by an extremely rude man in the clubhouse. He approaches us and says "Oh you must be the Grouponers". We had an 11AM tee time and had arrived at 10:20 to try and warm up and possibly get out early. It was a Monday morning & the course was dead. He claimed he was not going to let us out before 11 because his 'system wouldn't process Groupons before then'. I knew this was untrue considering I have run Groupon deals for my own small business. The guy was just being ignorant because we got a deal to play there. We checked in and then went outside to roll some putts. Strangely at 10:50 he comes out and says we can now go out. I guess his 'system' somehow allowed him to process our voucher early. That's weird.
In any event, the course itself was in terrible shape. Water filled to the brim of sand bunkers & no markings on many of the holes. I estimate one of the Par 3's was mis-marked on the scorecard by about 25-40 yards. The clubhouse and facilities are trapped in the mid 1980's. The only positive of the whole round was the pace of play. We played quickly because I suppose the secret is already out on this course and no one plays it. We won't be back here again.
Good layout, 3 nines; not well maintained
for a $44 green fee, average rating
good layout, moderate difficulty but washed out areas in fairways and some greens. Greens well sloped, a little slow but playable.
Did not have high expectations and was not disappointed.
Beckett is a great course for the money.
The course was in good condition and play moved along well. The were some challenging holes mixed in with moderate holes.
