Course in bad shape.
A few years ago this place was great, they redid everything and was one of my favorites. . But now it looks like it has gone down hill, Most fairways have a lot of large bare spots , and it looks like all grass is gone. Greens were fast but they were beat up, The guy at the counter was a mess , he was complaining he was the only guy there and he had a hard operating the register., kept messing up, You can find better course and better price than this.,They need to cut their rates until they fix the course up, Dirt cheap rates would be the only reason to play this.
KC Golf outing
The course has some long holes, but is very manageable. We enjoyed a good afternoon of golf on a very nice course. The rain quit before we teed off, but the wind bugged us all afternoon. We will be back!
More sand than the Sahara
I've got no issue with bunkers. However there was sand covering every green on the course. Not just some that came out when someone hit out of it. I mean a visible layer of sand over the entire thing. I used my hand and dept across it and made an inch tall pile. This made the greens impossible to play. I got so tired of it I walked off the course after 15. Also, the course is only big enough for 9 holes but they packed 18 into it. The entire time you are playing you are pressed against the two holes next to you making it almost impossible to not hit into someone.
Excellent value
The course is in good shape and play moves along well. The greens are in good shape and roll well.
golf outing
Royal Meadows is a great course for the value. Pace of play was a problem. There was a 2-some ahead of us that played extremely slow. No course marshal was seen through 18 holes.
Value golf at it's best
Great course for the money. Greens were fair to read. Tee boxes need some work.
Great for amateurs
This is a nice course and not too difficult. Most of the holes are pretty straight forward. A lot of fun to play.
Watch out for Tuesdays
Apparently they have a local league that plays on Tuesdays. No big deal really, however, they list tee times for ten minutes after the league tees off. They were performing maintenance on the back nine so you were to play the front nine twice. Ironically, I saw the marshalls more than I have at every other Kansas City course, but they didn't do anything to enhance play. So there we were for our 352 tee time after the league of six foursomes set off at 330. an hour and four minutes later on the fourth tee box, I was done. My favorite part was the offer of a raincheck for my trouble. To recap, you did not offer me a quality product, you book tee times over your league play while using half of the holes, there is no management to the pace of play, and the course conditions are below average at best. What would I use a raincheck for? I'm sorry, I do not like to be negative, but I would rather donate my green fee to Royal Meadows in the hope that I am investing in a course that I "might" be able to play two years from now. For now, I am burnt. On the positive, if you struggle with a slice or a hook, this course does it's part in helping you find your ball. If you have been to Drumm or Shoal Creek and lost dozen, you would be hard pressed to find a ball in an unplayable lie.
Looking and playing alot better
Done alot of improvements, taking alot of dead trees out and overall looks of the course much Improved, still need work on tee boxes and greens but they will get there. Really enjoy playing the course, good course for the money. Playing again 4/5
Good early season round
Playing golf anywhere in March is dicey but Royal Meadows is ahead of the curve and friendly staff gave us great pointers on playing the course as we were first timers.
Great golf day in December
First time playing, had read the reviews about tee boxes being poor - who cares. Course was in very good shape for December. No one was on the course, but it was during the Chiefs home game. Had a great day!
Great day...considering!
Played a tough round with my father in law as we fought through chilly temps, wind, and a drizzle to get it in. Even with all that, we had a great time! Always enjoy Royal Meadows. It's a great layout and can be challenging. I esp. Like the water that comes into play on your 2nd shot on 17. If you attack the pin, you'd better hit it well! Great staff- helpful, friendly.
course in good shape.
played it in a tournament when the west 9 opened and several times after. enjoyed it just as much this time
First Time Playing
This was the first time that I have played the course and was very satisfied with all aspects of the course.
It wasn't an easy course and not a very difficult one as well.
All in all, I would recommend the course to my friends and anyone.
Solid KC course
Nice course with good challenges. Only slight would be the conditions on the tee boxes. Very chewed up.
Home Course Advantage
Booked 10:24, Rained until 1. Started at 1:26, finished at 6:30! Slow pace but the course was in wonderful shape for getting so much rain. I also received the teequest price even when having to push tee time back.
Don't go unless you have 6 hours too play
Tee time was at 1230 didn't tee off till after one due too no carts available. Greens had a lot of divots not fixed.
Very quite and peaceful.
The course is pretty open, trees all around the course boundary so no houses come into play. Greens and course in good shape. Good value.
Excellent
Good course for the money. Lots of people out but good pace of play. Found an excellent deal on golfnow.
