Bargain price
I like this course because I can always find a bargain tee time price.
This course is well maintained.
This is a nice, short course that is always well maintained. I'm always surprised by the speed of the greens. It's a great value and it plays really quick with a early tee time.
A Great Time
I played Royal Meadows for the first time on Saturday and had a great time. The course had a fun layout and was very well maintained considering the intense heat we've had over the past 2 weeks. There weren't many blind shots and the fairways were generally forgiving; I think I only lost one ball all day. This course is going to be high on my list of fun for the value courses. I had an awesome time and will definitely be playing again soon.
Fun little course for the youth also
I love playing Royal Meadow's, especially with my 13 yr old son. A lot of courses try and gauge you for $15-$25 for young son. These are potential paying customers but if they don't learn the game young they won't play it when they get older. You would get alot more dad's paying to come out if their young son can play for free.
Greens were great, Fairways were 50% green, 50% dead!
The course was a nice beginner course and nice long straight fairways. The fairways were 50% or more brown/dead and hard. The greens were in great shape. Even with the golfnow price of $22 almost seems too much, as I have played better maintained courses and paid less.
maintained and friendly
I like Royal Meadows. Course is maintained and people are friendly (players and staff) not haughty like some courses think they need to be. We go often because the price and difficulty fit us.
the course was in good shape except for a couple of fairways that needed a little help.
the course was in good shape except for a couple of fairways that needed a little help. they were missing some grass in several areas where it seemed to be dying out. But the greens were very good.
Nice city course
Good layout but not a long course at just over 6300 Yds from the tips.
The tee boxes and greens were average, bunkers were in good shape, a fair amount of trees and a couple of ponds on the par 3's.
Nice city course and a good value for the price,
Fun round for the money.
Greens are pretty decent but the fairways are in need of rain.
Fine but....
They sell 18 hole tee times up till 3PM then start leagues after that. THey let anyone who walks up start on 10 which slows play. Front 9 = 1.75 hours Back 9 = 2.75 hours.
Also could not believe all the idiots that drive their carts by the greens and tee boxes.
This course is designed nicely
Setup a single player tee time around 2:32pm on a nice sunny Saturday. Got there on time and was teamed up with a group of 3 other players, one just happened to be a ex Chiefs football player and his buddies. Had a GREAT time playing the course. Super friendly starter and other staff. Only thing is I just wish I would've shot a little better. Overall I highly recommend this course to any and all golfers. Good course for a great price with friendly and happy staff. Can't wait to book another tee time soon!
Best Course in Raytown!
I started playing Royal Meadows back in high school. The course is in great shape and the staff is friendly. Lots of Chiefs players play there as its close to their practice facility. The course has a really nice layout and the par 3 over the pond is one of my favorite holes in Kansas City.
Slow and slow
Royal Meadows doesn't appear to allow 5-somes anymore, but you wouldn't know it from the pace of play, 5 hours is typical at Royal Meadows. No course marshalls can be found and staff doesn't seem interested in pace of play. Tee times are booked too close and when you arrive there are multiple groups backed up on the first tee. Lucky if you find water on the course, attending to details isn't a core strength here.
Nice course, but cramped
The front 9 is laid out well, but the back is very tight. On 17, there were balls literally coming in from both sides. The fairways are acceptable, but not great. The greens were fast, and in good shape.
Forgiving course
Like all area courses, July in Kansas City has been hard on Royal Meadows. All area courses are showing heat stress, but the staff here are working hard to keep the course in good shape. Overnight rain really helped the greens and softened them up. Fairly open layout, so not a lot of problems recovering from an errant shot. Great value for the price paid and had good draft beer in the clubhouse.
a good value
For the price I paid - $ 17.00 with tax - including a cart, using Golfnow, I feel I got a great deal. I doubt I would play the course if I had to pay full price. Considering how hot and dry its been, the course was in good condition.
Nice Layout
The course has a nice layout. It is fairly challenging. The tee boxes were pretty rough and the entire course isn't watered enough. It is a nice older neighborhood course.
