Beautiful mountain course
This course was apparently closed for 2 years as it was being brought back to life. The course conditions are very good at this point. Truly an enjoyable golf outing!!
Good course
Ive played the course twice, course looked better this time. Both times ive had encounters with older ladies on the property, I can only assume were
members. Both times not liking were I parked which was just general parking. Just odd but every thing else was great.
First time Playing course
Really enjoyed this course a lot. Generous off the tee with some great second shots in. Great views, many interesting holes. Will be back.
Tough course, rough conditions
The course is in the mountains which makes for nice scenery but also several very elevated greens, slanted fairways and water carries. The course is poorly marked and there was no information about hole layouts and in some cases how to get to the next tee box. The fairways were a mix of bald patches, dried grass and thick new growth.
Views!!!
Vacation from Florida….. The views absolutely AMAZING! Course layout was fun and challenging. They just punched the greens but for a family outing and the scenery $15/person was a no brainer.
I’d love to come back one day.
Needs work
This course is not worth paying 50.00 for a round on a Thursday. Tees are shaggy and beat up. Fairways are in poor shape. Layout of course is not great. Greens are in good shape ( the only positive) tried to grab a coke for the ride home but no one in the bar would come out front. Just hear them talk and whistle but would not respond to me. Maybe in a month or so the course will come around but right now the cost to value just isn't there.
Lots of slanting, but conditions getting better
Chestnut Mountain GC. (was High Vista) has a lot of slanting going on. Either the fairway is very slanted, or the green is very slanted, or they both are, on the same hole. I played Tues.11/7/23 at about 11am and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. To be fair, all the greens were in good condition several weeks after top dressing, making putting a joy, unless you were anywhere above the cup on the green. Sometimes hitting the middle of the green, when there's a front pin location-and it's hard to keep in on the green.( like #11). And also on #11, a seemingly well placed, high tee shot, into the left center of the fairway, only had me watch as my ball bounce (on a slanted right fairway) a couple of times and end up 40 yds right into wetlands & unplayable lies. Brutal. The back nine has some semi-blind tee shots, to fairways that are plenty big, except when a hard slant has your ball almost out of bounds. Even during off season months, grasses next to slanted fairways should stay long enough to stop otherwise good tee shots, from careening into sketchy areas-penalizing what looked like a good shot. You want golfers to come back-right? Not lose golf balls that hit the middle of a fairway. It has some great views, & I do like the greens conditions, but maybe leave the difficult pin locations for the spring & summer when you can better adjust green speed and playability.
Just an average course but great staff
Front 9 was pretty rough and the cart paths really bad. Back 9 better. Thanks to the Marshall for getting me ahead and saving two hours of my life.
