Poston Butte Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2015Just ok
Course is nice and green but its way to wet, pro shop guy and beverage cart girl had no personality. Course is worth 1 time around but its not good enough for the drive out there. Im surprised its a Troon course. Island par 3 is not what I was expecting.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 06/02/2014Always In Great Shape
This is a fun course that's always in great shape. Great mix of holes. The greens seem to be the challenging thing for me at Legacy. The pin seems to always be places where the ball will curve right at the hole. Great practice facility and course is priced appropriately. I feel its one of the better courses in the Phoenix area.
Papago Golf Course
Played On 05/06/2014BORING!!!
I don't get why this course has so many stars. There are so many great courses in the valley and this is not one of them. Half of the holes don't even have cart paths. Narrow fairways with and a few of the greens would be the only challenge here. Layout is basic and BORING to play. There isn't one hole on the course that would get me to come back. If your a beginner looking for an average course this is the place for you. I prefer great conditions, fun layout, this is a $15-$20 course at best. This place is equal to Encanto golf course.
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2014Average
This course is in much better shape then it was about 5-10 years ago. Im not sure what it is but I just feel this course is ok. The front 9 is very boring and flat and not much of a challenge. The back nine has a few challenging holes. There is no range, they have 2 swing nets. The staff seems like they would rather be somewhere else besides getting you started on a round. The grass is in good condition and the greens are better then average. I think this course is about a $25 course.
North Golf Course at Granite Falls Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2014My Favorite Westside Course
Amazing condition and layout. I cant believe this course is only $36. Really fun to play here, and you will use all the clubs in your bag. Wide fairways. The Granit Falls, Cimaron, and Desert Springs course are all part of the same community. All three are great courses and great condition. The food and drinks are really cheap and the staff is friendly. They really take care of these facilities and is a must play.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 02/22/2014Amazing course layout
Almost 5 starts. Two things about this course I really don't like. 1st is the price, way to expensive. The 2nd is the greens are so fast and hard that putting on these can just ruin the hole experience and the greens do not hold approach shots at all. I like a fast green but this place is ridiculous. Because of how challenging this course is I think that they should work on slowing these greens down a lot. If your 180 or more yards out good luck stickin the green. Chip shots will roll forever. Other than that the course is amazing. Fun layout and all par 3's have elevated greens. The breakfast burrito is so good!!!
Thanks for coming out to play Quintero. The greens are quick, I agree. Just get them rolling on line! Our rates went down April 1st and we will have terrific deals as summer approaches. Come back and see us again soon.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 12/13/2013Always a great time at Ocotillo
3 fun 9 hole courses. Ocotillo is always in great condition and has a very friendly staff. Ranger always on the course to make sure pace of play is moving along. Great practice facility. Great value for the money.
South at Boulders Golf Club & Resort
Played On 11/23/2013Great views, unfriendly staff, too many golfers on course
Great views with a fun layout. If you are not a member then the staff does not care about you and seem to be inconvenienced by you. This course has so many people booked to play that you have to wait 5 min before each shot this is no kidding. I waited 15 min to tee off on a par 3 half way through course. This is not acceptable. When you pay $150 to play a course this is not what you should be getting. Thank god this was my free round I earned from golfnow because we teed of at 1:10 and at 6pm it was dark and I had to head in only on hole 16. Almost 5 hours to play 15 holes. Do not waist your time its not that beautiful, after all we are here to play golf not look at mountains.
Copper Canyon Golf Club - Vista/Lake Course
Played On 10/31/2013WoW, very nice course
This course is very nice, and I agree with all other reviews saying this course is 5 stars. The grass is super green and in pristine condition from tee box, to fairways, to greens. Fairway bunkers are present on many holes. The greens rolled good and fast but not to fast. Most fairways are wide and unless you really hook or slice you should have no problem landing in fairways. Great mix of holes. Some long, some difficult, some beautiful. The staff was friendly but I think thrown off by me cause Im younger than the average golfer playing here and looked me up and down a bit but were all very nice. I ended up chatting with the guy who washed my clubs for about 10 min after I played. Range balls are included. Copper canyon is worth the drive out west and I feel is a must play.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 10/24/2013Fun challenging course
This course is fun and challenging. The fairways have lots of hills but most are wide so there is a little room to drift left or right. The greens are in good shape but I wish there were a little softer. Rage balls are included and the practice area is nice with a big chipping and putting area. I had a great time playing this course and I would recommend this course if you are up for a little challenge.
Peaks at Tonto Verde Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2013Great layout
Fun course and in great condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. The practice facilities are great here. Its a drive but it was worth it to me. Ill be back to play the other course here.
Superstition Springs Golf Club
Played On 10/15/2013Fun Course
I had a lot of fun playing here. My golf game was on that day and that made for a great day. This course is challenging and was a PGA qualifier course at one point. That is what the pro shop guy was telling me anyway. There is challenging bunker placement and some elevated greens as well. Hole #12 is about 150-160 yards (depending on tee box) that is so elevated you cant even see the top of flag stick. Its crazy but very challenging trying to figure what club to use. Great mix of holes here and if you want to test your game then this course will do that. Fairways and greens were in good shape a few bumpy tee boxes. Staff was friendly. Go Play!!!
Whirlwind Golf Club - The Devil's Claw Course
Played On 10/13/2013long course and pristine grass
I played Devils Claw and really liked this course. Its really long at over 7000 yards. Grass was perfect on all tee boxes, fairways, and greens. The course was challenging on some holes. Most fairways are super wide and easy to land in unless you really shank it. I will play again and going to try and play Cattali next time I make it to Whirlwind. The starter was super cool and the pro shop guys seem to be all business and not to talkative. The guy who cleaned my clubs did a horrible job, I think they were cleaner before he touched them. lol
Championship at Viewpoint Golf Resort
Played On 10/12/2013Great Value, beautiful grass
I played the week after seeding and it was cart path only but the grass on the Tee box, fairways, and greens were in perfect condition. I was really surprised at how nice the course was here. Simple layout and not to difficult but I had a great day on the Viewpoint course. Staff was friendly and they really care about the condition of the course. The golf carts are super clean and look like they are new, and they are fast and run perfect. I would recommend playing this course if you get the chance.10/12/2013
Union Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/06/2013Greens need attention
Nice layout and this course is not easy. There are some difficult holes on this course. But the greens were so dry and in need of water. It was hard to get the ball to stay on green cause the ball would roll forever. This made for a frustrating day on the course and for $40 I want the course in better condition. Staff was friendly.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 10/2/2013Oh Yeah, Must Play
This is in my top 5 courses in Arizona. I could play this course over and over. Challenging, Beautiful, Pristine Condition, Super Friendly Staff. The views are some of the best you will get on any of these desert courses here in Az. The course is just a fantastic layout. Elevated greens in the canyons of the mountains on a few holes are well placed and fun to approach. The greens were the perfect speed, a little fast not crazy fast. Hole 18 is Tuff. Get a raffle ticket in the pro shop for $10. They have a giveaway every month. I won the TaylorMade SLDR driver. I put in 1 ticket. lol So cool Im sure I will review again after my next round here at Las Sendas. Cant say enough about this course.
Camelback Golf Club - Padre Course
Played On 10/1/2013Fun course
This is a really fun course. Its not to hard but still very challenging. A few holes have fairway bunkers so being accurate with your drive is key on a few holes. The rest of the holes are wide open. Great layout here at Padre. The greens and fairways are in great shape and most of the tee boxes are flat with few divots. The greens are fast and roll perfectly. The staff was very friendly and seemed happy I was playing there course. The range is big and range balls are included which is a plus for me. Nice chipping area with a bucket of balls to use. Overall I really like Camelback Padre and Ill be back for sure!!!
Cimarron Golf Club
Played On 9/29/2013Good times golfin
This course is wide open. Wide fairways and big greens. The greens roll good, not to fast. Every green has a low and elevated section on them. Fairways, tee boxes , and greens are all in good shape. The staff is very friendly and are out on the course to make sure things are moving along which I like. There are may local residents members here that call the course there own, they are very proud of this course and the three other courses in the community. The cool thing about that is they have made all items on the beverage cart cheap and affordable. Water was $1 and the beers were $2.50, cant beat that. Nice range but balls are not included. Nice practice putting green as well. We had a great day and I would play again.
Longbow Golf Club
Played On 9/23/2013Fun course
I really had fun playing Longbow. The layout makes for a fun round with opportunity for challenging shots or you can play it safe. The fairways and greens were in great shape. The greens here are super fast so I recommend going to the practice green before you play and get a feel for those greens. Only 1 complaint and that is the staff here is unfriendly and rude. I would have given 5 stars if staff was friendly just a little bit, but I will play here again and looking forward to it!!!
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 9/16/2013Keep it on the fairway!!!
I had a good time for the most part. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Tee boxes need attention., hard to find a level spot to hit from. Its a must to land in the fairways because of the very thick and long rough just off the fairways. The grass is so think its hard to even find your ball, if you find it its so thick good luck getting good contact on it. I lost 4 balls that were no more than 1-2 feet off fairway. At $30 I would play but I will not pay more than that for this course.
i disagree that Papago is equal to Encanto. Papago just lacks some investment by the city or else it would be ranked up there with other more popular and overpriced courses in the Valley. The layout is much more interesting and more challenging than Encanto. The fact that it does NOT have cart paths on many holes makes it even more appealing to those of us who can appreciate walking and lament having our ball hit an ill-placed path on often times a very good shot.
