Very enjoyable course and staff

Get to the point, I loved this course. Like the layout, the staff, the challenge, mix of holes. I liked it enough that it's on my go-back-to list even if it's a drive. I don't boast about courses easily, but this was what I like in a course.

First off the first tee gets you out and away from the club into quiet surroundings with one shot I played all alone and the quiet along with the challenges made it great. A few sneaky holes surprised me when they put a turn in the fairway I didn't pick up on before hitting my ball, but that's cool, that's golf.

Course was in real good shape. Water is in play on several holes. Trees aren't unless you spray them. greens held shots of all lengths.

Go play it. You'll like it.

Good option for locals, nice staff.

This is a very popular course with the locals. It provides a good option for higher handicap players, and I saw a large variety of golfers. Men women and elderly. You don’t pay much to have a round with friends.

The staff was all very friendly and helpful. They seem to really care about the customers. There’s a friendly welcoming atmosphere for all. The pro shop was small but functional, and bar was in the barn and basic but again, had lots of tables for crowds and friends. The parking area is not asphalt.

I wouldn’t call it a links course by definition, but it is open, few trees, and I suppose wind could be prevalent at times. Water on a few holes, and the blind shots are minimal and not punitive. Sand traps were few and I wasn’t in any and don’t recall seeing anything notably great or poorly maintained.

The boxes were okay, nothing notably good or bad. Fairways were hard and dry, as we’ve had no rain for some time and I don’t think they have sprinklers for them. But most lies were playable without having to worry about poor conditions. The rough was short, (mowed weeds) to speed play for the higher handicap players, which were more prevalent than average.

The greens were pretty good and held a good shot but released on plays from rough. I played on a hot afternoon and they rolled well and faster than average but appeared to be slower, messing with your head. Three putts were not uncommon, my bad.

Hole layout was good. I thought the variety pretty good. Kept me engaged.

So this is a recommendation but I give an honest review so you know you’re getting a course that’s great for time out with friends, but if you are lower handicap player (I’m about a 8 now) and want a course to fit your game skills this might disappoint. Nothing against the course or management, every course has a target clientele. If you see this on a Gold Advisor top course list it’s because the players who play it LOVE this course. But I played others during my visit to the area which were better quality but you pay for it as well. We need courses that’s welcome the recreational players with higher handicaps, and this course excels at that.

Good all around course

This was on a list of top public courses in Pa so I came out here to play it and some others. Well worth it.

Maintained very well. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, everything was decent. Sure a few golf cart entry areas were roughed up but not as badly as it could have been. I can’t understand past reviewers complaints but this day it was very good. The crews were out my entire round also watering and such.

I liked the views a a lot. The layout varied and most greens were not punitive. Wife fairways but fescue if you chicken winged a swing. I donated some
Balls myself.

The greens ran medium and the practice green matched the course.

The rates were outstanding for what I got. Absolutely no complaints from me.

Jekyl and Hyde, good and bad.

This will be one of the more odd reviews I’ve written. I enjoy. Mountain courses , drove 90 minutes to try the course, and I want to encourage use of courses away from congested areas but...

This course has two 18 holes and they’ve got all the amenities you could need. Wedding venue, driving range, decent club house, two buildings to feed any masses and groups you can bring. The buildings were in top shape. Staff helpful and professional. They’ve been coached for sure. But this is a golf review, and the course didn’t match the rest of their services.

The layout wasn’t bad. What you’d expect but not innovative. The course plays longer than the measurements. But these were the worst tee boxes I’ve played in years. Most were totally dead, yet they aerated them. Why? Dead grass doesn’t need help, it’s dead. The few boxes that were good needed mowed and grass was between my teed ball and driver. As you can see, just horrible.

The fairways were a little better but they had a lot of patches and weeds and it wasn’t appealing from the tees. I often had dead grass under my ball, so I gave up and moved my balls to better lies.

Sand traps were okay. Nuff said.

Greens were surprisingly in good shape. Good grass, deep green colors, consistent but a bit slow. While the practice green was at least two, maybe three times faster than the greens out on the course. So greens were the one good point.

I’m sure the locals love it, there’s not much to pick from out there and they’ve got food and amenities to enjoy, but this is about golf. Not food or wedding views. I just can’t recommend it. They need to spend a LOT of money on watering and weed killers.

Lots of varied holes and white sand. Thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a popular course that others recommend. I found the pace of play great as it was low volume afternoon. But I can believe it’s busy on non Labor Day weekend evenings. Greens had been aerated recently but was done well and putting wasn’t adversely affected. Tee boxes average or slightly better. Fairways In Really good shape,.

The holes varied a lot. Made it very interesting. It wasn’t real long but you needed to play strategically to score. Sand traps were numerous and nearly all were pure white and fluffy. They define the course and it was a good change from other courses.

Water in play a few times, nothing notable.

I’ll play again.

Rolling hills, water, good views, fun to play. Public course

I was surprised that I’d not heard of this course before. A very enjoyable round. Lots of hole variety, scenery, hills and water. Would be a challenge to walk, which I didn’t do this time. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, tough long at times. Greens in shape but a bit slow and pretty consistent. Traps were better than average for a public course. It’s a par 70, but the par 3’s from the blues were a challenge.

That’s about says it. I really enjoyed it and recommend you try it.

Wonderful surprise

I’m vacationing in the area and this was the third course I played and it costs less than half the other two, it surpassed the others in value, layout, and challenge. The holes varied a lot, had some nice tall trees for shade, challenge and not over bearing. Greens were cut low and very fast. Varied tee boxes for varied skills. I played the blues.

What I enjoyed the most was I had to consider carry distances and club selection. It made me think. There were hazards that came into play at times.

Being a municipal course, some areas needed some care, but they were keeping up on the watering. Staff was friendly and the pro shop was large and the bar area seemed like it would be a nice gathering spot.

I Highly recommend this course. Lots of fun.

Wide open, nice greens, bad attitude

Played this course while vacationing here. The course was wide open and few hazards come in play. The lack of shade made the hot day a long one. They did have the beverage cart going around regularly.

Greens were well maintained and ran on the fast side but very consistent. Most tee boxes were in good shape. The course was long enough but didn’t really weave or turn and cause much mental effort. It seemed popular during my weekday tee time with the senior crowd. Practice facilities looked top notch.

I don’t know if this is fair but I got some bad vibes from the pro shop worker and the lady at the bar. The gentleman at the counter seemed to dislike questions about where the first tee was and he really didn’t like splitting the bill up (I paid over half of the cost for our foursome as a gesture and he was irritated at having out the remainder of the bill. Pardon me for giving you a large amount of cash and your having to use a calculator.) it wasn’t customer service oriented.

Helpful staff, enjoyable round

I am visiting here from Pa and playing a few rounds in February. Every single person working here was helpful and kind. Much appreciated. The greens were I. Really good shape for this month, rolled excellently and consistently. This front nine are wood lined and the back more near the waterway and the back nine was notably more wet. I plugged quite a few shots but that’s not a criticism, it’s the area.

The practice areas were tops, the bar looked well equipped but I didn’t use it.

The course was a good variety of movements and distances. I lost a few balls, my own mistakes. The traps were in good shape and the staff was out pick8ng up divots off the tee and filling and planting the driving range. They seemed to care about the course conditions. The only bad areas was some waste bunkers which some say never should be touched, were a bit worn but then I shouldn’t be able to play a clean iron shot out of them. Just one guys opionion. Some of the tee boxes were a bit worn but it seems normal for a wet course in a wet region.

I really liked the course and my round. It’s not a resort, but I have issues with those prices. I felt this a decent cours and round.

Well maintained and nice layout

I visited the course because of it being listed as a top course in the state and I understand why. It was late December and mid 40s, but in very good shape. I imagine it’s really sweet in the spring. It’s a decent mixture of simpler holes and some challenging ones. The sand was in good shape given the weather lately, greens also in good shape. The rough wasn’t super high.

They don’t have pull carts and want you to use a cart. I’m trying to walk more and it’s good in colder months. I got the winter rate, which was good, but a club member told me the normal summer rates which are a bit pricey. But you’re at the beach so they can charge it. I’d think caddies would be a nice option.

I have no hard knocks against the course. Beautiful venues without abusing you. You can score if you hit straight and and get suckered into trying to beat the ball. Most of the water isn’t in play but it’s there if you push it.

So worth the long drive from Pa. enjoyed my day there.

Good challenge, Good food

We played on a cold windy day, and I’ve played here before but not in over a year. I find the holes are varied and challenging. The wet cold weather had the greens longer and slower but that’s expected for this weather. It was appreciated this cold blustery day.

My first time guests enjoyed the course and we all thought the food to be very good. I believe to be a top course in eastern Pa. if not farther. Take my word on this, when the weather isn’t soggy like it has been this year, these greens are tough and some of the fairways slant towards danger.

I marked speed of play as average. That’s because although few of us were on here this day. It’s usually slow play due to the difficulty and locals insist on playing and finding every ball. But still one you should play in good weather at least once. Then Go eat.

Enjoyable round in all aspects

First time playing at this club and this course. We spent one night and ate a meal there. This is one of those easy reviews as everything was good from course maintenance (during a horrible rain filled year) to good food, friendly staff, and beautiful and decent course.

I like the layout and tree lines fairways. It’s not super hard so the average golfer can have a good time. It’s long enough for those with the length, but our 50 degree, windy wet day had me playing the 6,400 yard tees.

All the staff were on top of things and experoenced men and women who understood the customers. The room was clean albeit a little dated. Nice hot showers, and our burgers were better than red robin from the quality of the meat used.

I’ll stop there. You get it. Better than average time and course. Founder’s is good, and I hear iron is more open with more views. Easy recommendation.

In decent shape with room to improve.

I play here occasionally. The price is good and the course in okay shape. The building is in sad shape and the new managers have managed really good courses in the general area. I look forward to their improvements.

The greens are a little slow. It might be from the wet season. Cart path s are dated. But the old course and trees are enjoyable. Overall good to play course.

Nice layout, frindely staff, greens need attention.

This course is in the country away from everything. It’s quiet and the people, players and staff all have that small town kindness I appreciate. The layout is really good. Front nine is more open and exposed to wind. The back nine tightens up and has some woods,, hills, water and unique holes. It kept me interested throughout.

The price is hard to beat. 18 holes on a Friday afternoon for $20. The tee boxes, fairways and traps were all decent. The traps were well kept but not fine sand. Very small pebbles but it played consistently. The greens are the one knock on the course. Many needed healing. Seems all the rain left them splotchy, but they were mowed generally low. Because of the wet season balls didn’t roll in the fairways and the greens held shots very well.

We stayed for drinks and food and I wasn’t sure how it would be, as it’s open, friendly and warm, but dated. Well fool me. The soup was something I’d never heard of and loved, and the two flavors of wings we had were very good.

The afternoon was Enjoyable. Simply put. Now if you want higher quality greens and such, don’t go, but it wasn’t that bad and I enjoyed everything else. The operators, that I assumed are the owners, are genuinely nice.

Very enjoyable layout, attentive staff.

I played this course twice in ten days, and enjoyed it both times. The layout is varied and lots of good views and some tough pin placements. The greens were really fast the first time, medium speed the second but I’m guessing they were letting them grow for aeration that was about to occur. Lots of sand traps and visible from almost all shots so it’s no surprise if you enter one. It plays as long plays as long or short as you desire. Having played on a Friday the regulars were there, with a mix of men and women and ages, with everyone playing the appropriate tees for their skills (a rare courtesy on most courses and worth noting here).

The course conditions were good from tee to green. The only complaint I had was the rough had inconsistent plants, weeds, or whatever. Light and thick and deep and not. I’d recommend they spend time on the rough, something I’ve never recommended.

Staff were all really good, Marshalls were common and didn’t hassle folks. Just watching play and speed. Golf shop, restaurant, starter, everyone was polite and friendly. We ate a meal and it was decent.

It’s one of the most enjoyable courses I’ve played. I took three guests with me for their first time on my second visit, first time I went alone, and all three said they enjoyed the course more than normal. There’s no type a category for enjoying the round. I rated each category individually but I won’t over hype a category just t push up the numbers but it deserves more. I simply enjoyed it and will make the 90 minute ride again.

Varied and fun

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It had a lot of variety, with trees in some areas, water others, none on some more. Some holes made you place shots, and few let you rip it. It was very quiet and it was one of the more enjoyable my rounds I’ve played all year.

Conditions were very good, even with the very rain filled summer we’ve had. Nothing bad to comment on.

Pace of play was excellent given how busy it was. All the golfers I came across were knowledgeable and Appreciated the time out from work.

The staff were good. One Marshall was a bit too zealous several times, as in telling us one time as he calculated our pace of play on a sheet and noticed us what time we should be at the next tee, oh wait, you’re ahead of schedule... he needed a chill pill. Made us laugh a bit, since no group was in front of us and we’d left the ones behind us two holes back.

I learned that the profits support a school for children, I think teenagers, with some struggles, Andy they have the kids help with course maintenance.

Really a good day, course and you get to help some kids. It’s worth playing

Wonderfully maintained, bring extra balls

The course is maintained very well. Best fairways I’ve seen this year. Tee boxes very good. Sand traps were in good shape given the deluge of rIn we’ve had lately. The greens were good but a bit slow. The fescue is everywhere and swallows balls. That caused slow play without a Marshall around. High handicappers teed up forward but they were in the fescue looking for balls often. I got in it too often, letting it get in my head, so prepare for it.

It’s beautiful scenery with Amish buggies on the roads and one young fella playing as well. It’s worth the drive and a good price in the afternoon. One of the best courses I’ve played and I sure wish they’d put a fescue idol at the practice green so we could donate a few balls to and get it over with faster.

Go play, try to enjoy it, and use you older balls because you won’t find them in the fescue.
