Loving the All you can play summer at TPC.

The Champions course to me is actually the better of the two courses. I'm not a big fan of the layout at the Stadium course...apparently neither is the PGA tour, since it is in a full redesign right now...and hey..39 bucks..all you can play....even with some of the SUPER low summer rates right now....just can't beat it.....

Looking a little tired out on the Padre course....

Boy, ever since Camelback unveiled their fabulous redesign of the old "Indian Bend" course into Ambiente......it has really pointed out how tired the Padre course is looking. The fairway grass has devolved into a mix of 3 grasses that look more like a muni fairway. The watering schemes are leaving muddy to bone dry areas all over the course. There is also more than a little of the dreaded...SUMMER FAIRWAY BURN OUT. I think that Camelback has to take a really good look now at doing the same redesign to this one.....the differences are getting to be pretty glaring...!!!

Excellent conditions, kinda so-so layout

Being a Troon course, the one thing you can count on are excellent playing conditions. The layout however is a "parkland' style design. I find it to be a little to the boring side. It goes well as a resort course for the casino....meh....

Always a solid play, takes every club out of your bag.

This is my first time back to Longbow this year. The course was in good shape as usual. An overall challenging layout that requires some planning off the tee. I have always liked the course and still reccomend it. One note...the greens have reached summer speed and hardness a little early this year. Good luck with that!!

Pretty decent for a Tucson Muni

While you won't get perfect fairways and greens here...you will get an intresting layout with a nice mix of holes. The playing conditions are not bad. Price of the tee times is pretty good, so an all around solid choice.

Back from the DEAD!!!!!

Seeing this great RTJ course die and turn to dirt the last couple of years was simply heartbreaking. Oh Happy Day!!! OB sports came in and turned it all around. The course is back to it's former glory. Playing conditions were just wonderful again. I really love this layout....RTJ throws it at you on this one...get out of position or try something crazy...and you will pretty be VERY...VERY sorry you did. This course is back on my must play list when I make my Tucson runs for golf...!!!

Best conditions I have ever seen on the course.

I have played this course many...many times. It is a semi- challenging layout that is not all that exciting to look at, but gives a good solid play. This spring, the course has managed to get the conditions just right...The greens are smooth and consistent. The fairways are lush with lots of roll. Best I have seen this course in the 8 years I have been playing it.

Stick a fork in it.... and turn out the lights.......

This course has been in a continuous downward spiral for a couple of years now. It's an old layout that was cool....in the 70's. Unfortunately...the staff have let the place go to the dogs....even in spring...the greens are trashed, fairways are average at best....and everything off the fairway is dirt. This place is officially on my "GOAT TRACK" list

Continuing to improve toward it's former glory!

I played the course back in July. My review then tempered the fact that they were in "recovery" mode from years of neglect. This trip has seen even more improvements to the course. She was pretty playable. The greens have come back about 95%, the bunkers have had a LOT of work done on them..they are now playable. The short par 4 6th is a glaring sore spot..the fairway is trashed. The staff told me they decided to wait for the overseed this year to be able to properly repair it (call it GUR and drop on grass). The staff is really excited to see this former top 10 in the state Tom Doak design come closer to it's former glory. All things aside, it is a great layout, with absolutely nothing but mountains and silence around you. Give it a run....but cut it some slack until next fall.

Great hidden gem in west valley...but pace of play...out of control.

I played this course once last winter on a really cold frost delayed morning that was a little tough to make a true call of the course on. This round however was played in perfect conditions on an 11:30 tee time. I teed off on time, and finished at 5:00 pm....outrageous pace of play for a friday. The fact that there are no rangers whatsoever on a course that is completely overrun with "snowbird" plates in the parking lot, is all you need to know to get the answer to that Q. The facilities at the course are very average. They are adequate enough to get the job done. I also warn you that the course backs up to a runway at Luke AFB, so it gets pretty loud out there with jets taking off all the time. So, enough with the negatives to the course. The course itself is in pretty good shape. The greens are solid and true. They roll to about a 9 on the stimp right now. The fairways are well kept and roll well. The bunkers, for the most part are pretty playable. The layout presents a nice mix of tough and easy holes. The course only plays to about 6800 from the tips....but there are a few holes that will really put you to the test. The big kicker for this course is the really low greens fees...25 bucks at 11:30 on Friday...in winter in AZ??? I just wish I didn't live 40 miles from the course.

As always, a pretty average course.

This course doesn't have much it can boast about. There are no fancy design features or great challenges in the layout. In the winter it plays pretty slow. The course however is kept in decent shape these days and is one of the more affordable east valley courses in winter. Overall, it gets it done at a reasonable price.

One of the few Arnold Palmer designs in Phoenix that you can play.

The course has a typical challenging Palmer layout. It will present you with plenty of options on how to play the holes. It will also perplex you on how to read the subtle breaks on the greens..A Palmer signature move for sure. The course is in good condition and pretty reasonable in price.

Good conditions on the course...same as it ever was......

This outing to Silverado was pretty much what you always get. It's an easy course. There are only a few holes that hold any challenge. The par 5's are all short. The conditions are always decent. That said, the practice facilities are pretty much a waste of time. You get 2 hitting nets and a VERY slopy practice green....that's it. Being that the course is in Scottsdale, they try for their prices...but let's be realistic. This is not what we know as "Scottsdale Golf" Good course for juniors, seniors and beginners.

Not quite the course that Tiger once destroyed as a pro.

I played this course fairly often when I lived in Vegas. Coming back 8 years later, I found the course to have slipped into the ranks of mediocrity. The layout isn't bad. The conditions were reasonable, but not what you would expect from a former PGA stop, in the winter no less! The price was OK for the time of year. It is still a very playable course...it's just...."the old grey mare ain't what she used to be"

Great Layout that has really come into it's own.

I used to play this course when it first opened, back when I still lived in Vegas. Then it was setting in and developing as a new build. This round has shown that the course has matured in a top quality course with tournament quality conditions. Great way to spend Christmas day!!!

Greens pretty messed up for being just out of overseed.

I play Kokopelli quite a bit. It is a favorite course for the mrs. The layout as we all know is kind of rolly polly, not my favorite. It is however usually in very good condition. This year though, the greens are pretty heavily pocked and rough, just weeks out of overseed. The course still continues to have large areas of bare dirt just off the fairways that are very dry and hard. The fairways are in good shape, but not being cut short enough. As one of the more affordable winter courses in the east valley, I just hope they don't end up on the path of some of the others before them that were decent courses, now considered "goat tracks" No need to name names....we all know who they are.

A great redesign of the old "Indian Bend" course

I really like the new layout. It is a much more challenging course than before. The bunkers are pretty serious stuff here. At times they get as much as 8-9 foot lips to them. The sand is still settling in, but very nice to play. The greens, while still a bit too hard to hold correctly yet, are very smooth and consistent in speed. They will be some of the best in the valley after the underlayment settles in a little more. The fairways are just perfect. I did have a few issues to address. First, everything off the edge of the rough is a mix of thick vegetation and flowers, pretty much impossible to find your ball. This is already slowing play quite a bit. For now the course is still "path only". The placement of the cart paths was horribly misjudged for those times. Many of the typical landing areas on the course are in a spot where the path has turned away from the hole and many times forces a long walk around or through a large stand of the "natural vegetation", further slowing play. Finally, while it is a nice course, I just don't see it as a $175 course. Hoperfully that will change a bit when summer rolls around. I do recommend giving it a play though.

Semi successful overseed this year.

Slowly but surely this course is falling down, and won't get up. The grass came in OK this year. The greens are still so-so. (dark patchy fungus looking stuff in there, but still mostly good roll). Unfortunately, there are still large areas of bare dirt just off of nearly every hole. Service is still lacking at best in the pro shop. The place needs a remodel and soon...before it is too late.

better than usual overseed this year.

Kenny Mac is not a personal favorite for me. It is everything I hate about "muni" golf. I will say that they came out of overseed in better than normal shape this year, fairways and greens were pretty good. With them as well as most of the muni courses in town right now, I don't agree with their pricing. They have all gone up in price knowing that the snowbirds are going to flock to them for cheaper golf. MHO is that the Phoenix area needs to institute the same resident/ non- resident structure that other major markets employ. These courses are supposed to be here to provide an affordable golf experience to residents.

I go 3.5 stars for these guys, nice overseed this year.

Oakwood is a solid 27 hole that is well kept and fun to play. This years overseed went very well, the course is looking sharp. Being resident owned has severely impeded the number of days and times that are available for play on GolfNow. I do suggest that you get one if you want a solid overall course at a reasonable price.
