Freddie put up a stern test of golf here.

I would have given the course higher marks for conditions if it had not been winter and they don't overseed the fairways. That being said, this course has a very good layout that is a solid test of golf, however it is quite fair. Upon arrival, i was met by a very friendly and attending staff. The practice facilities were very nice. My round was played the day after a full collegiate tournament with 10 major teams, so I saw the full on Sunday tournament pin placements. While tough to get at, they were fair in the setting. The course has a lot of great risk/ reward holes, as well as a nice smattering of holes that give you a chance to let the "Big Dog Eat". Overall, I would list this course as the "MUST PLAY" in the Tallahassee area.

Even FSU doesn't play their own course......????

I saw a good star rating and reviews prior to playing here. I must say I was a little disappointed. The course layout isn't bad. There are some interesting holes. The conditions however are average muni all the way. Everything from patchy grass to so so greens, bad cart paths, humps, dips and holes hiding in the grass. The practice facilities are lacking at best. The staff was friendly, but aloof. It is fine if you can get a good price and want an average place to play, but don't get caught paying a premium for it. And yeah, I found out that FSU plays their matches at Southwood instead.....which by the way is a nice course and a very stern test designed by Freddie Couples. See my review on that course from the next day.

Overall good course, but different feel from a Nicklaus course.

This course was a challenge for sure, 30 MPH winds that day insured that. On a little more calm day though, not as tough as I would have expected from the descriptions and past experience with Nicklaus designs. The course was kept in good condition. The greens, as expected were fast (12-13), with well thought out features. Plenty of undulation, false fronts, subtle breaks, etc. Having played a number of Nicklaus designed courses, the overall layout, other than the greens, really didn't feel like his designs. It is however, a solid course in good shape that is worth the play.

1 word " FABULOUS"

This course was suggested to me with much ado. I usually take those referrals with a grain of salt. too many times I have arrived to find an average course or maybe a little better. THIS TIME HOWEVER WAS A DIFFERENT STORY...... This course was simply put " World Class". Everything about this course is worth raving about. The layout, conditions, beauty of the holes.......and the list goes on. Having played more than a thousand different courses worldwide, including many courses on the PGA tour. I can honestly say this course sits up there among the best I have played. It out shined courses I have played at twice the price

Maintained course, lots of elevation changes.

I chose this course because it was the only Florida course to host a US Open. Judging from the layout and condition from the course, I am thinking that was back in the 1940's or 50's. The course was kept in decent, playable condition. The greens were pretty good, a little quicker than one would expect. The layout had quite a few elevation changes and a handful of blind shots. While not the toughest course out there, the layout provided enough risk/ reward to satisfy most advanced players while remaining solidly playable for the higher handicapper.

Solid layout in good condition.

This course had a nice mix of holes to challenge better players, but was still very playable to the beginner from the forward tees. A nice mix of well placed water and bunker hazards will give you pause before unleashing the" Big Dog" on every hole. The fairways are for the most part fairly generous. The greens are well kept and reasonably consistent. The breaks are a little tricky to read, check the putt from more than one side. Overall, a worthy course that will keep you coming back.

Decent course, good conditions, but RTJ design?

The description says that Robert Trent Jones designed the course. I have trouble with that statement, because, to me, it didn't look or feel like his designs. The course is a good course that is well kept and playable by all levels of golfer. The practice facility needs a little work. Overall, a good choice for the Baton Rouge area.

What a cool golf course!

They did a really good job of recreating all of these 18 tour holes. I especially liked the recreation of of "Amen Corner" and TPC Sawgrass #17. The conditions of the course were near perfect. The practice facility was good as well. I would suggest playing this course, which is well priced, instead of going to one of the higher priced courses for the prestige factor. The cool factor trumps in this case.

Good all around course.

This course doesn't have a lot of "wow" factor, but it is a good course at a good price. The layout is pretty traditional here and won't have you reaching for the camera, but it is a good layout. The conditions were good on all sides. The course is also not terribly difficult, so it is good for all skill levels Good choice for a group that has a mix of handicaps and just want to have fun.

Beautiful course with a lot of great features.

The layout on this course is really nice. There are some great looking holes on this course. There are also a number of holes that are as tough as they are pretty. Conditions were very good at the course. Overall a great choice in the Austin area.

Solid layout, great conditions

Even though the course was in winter condition, it was still in very good condition. Shot making is key on this course. just hitting the fairway isn't going to get you a par. The greens are tricky and need to be approached from the correct angle to score. The layout of the holes is really good, with a mix of risk/reward, distance and placement holes. The bunkers are well kept and have a nice grade of sand in them. Hazards were well thought out here. Seemingly good shots that are a little off line can find more trouble than you thought. I suggest a good warm up before your round. Fortunately for you, they have a nice, complete facility.

Surprised this course isn't packed.

This course was a bit of a shock to me. It has a solid layout, good conditions and a super low price and yet, it has very little play. The course has a decent location for the Austin area. Overall, at 25$ and all you can play.....totally untouchable. Don't order the breakfast tacos though. They're really, really small and pricey. DO order an ice tea though, souvenir cup and free refills for 2$.

Challenging layout with a lot of great features.

After playing this course I can fully understand why it was home to a PGA tour event. It requires careful shot placement and shows no quarter on a missed shot. The greens were smooth and consistent, but pretty tough to read correctly. There are a lot of elevation changes, sloped fairways and well placed bunkers to demand your "A" game. The signature hole, a short par 4 was nicely laid out and came with the added bonus of roller coaster views in the background. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful. Overall a really good course that is worth the play. I do, however have a few negatives from the experience to share. First, the clubhouse restaurant only offered breakfast tacos, at 10:30 AM. The main room just up the hill was serving a buffet. it was quite pricey, yet sparse in selection and quality. My second negative is that this is one of the feature resort courses of the area that commands a premium price and yet they do not overseed the fairways to keep the "A" quality conditions you expect from a course of this stature. I suggest waiting for the warmer months to play this course.

The course design is OK, but maintenance keeps it a goat track.

After reading descriptions about this course online, I must say I wasn't sure what to expect. I saw both positive and negative reviews. After playing however, I can say this, the course is not worth the effort. It is on the far north side of El Paso. The views are few at best. The course has an average layout. A couple of classic hole designs. The maintenance and general condition of the course were not good. I will give a nod to winter and the dormant grass. I can't however overlook the patchy fairways, some covered in dirt from the dirt blowing across them from the open desert. The 2 types of grass on the greens that made putting a very bumpy ride and the large sections of the course that were just bare dirt, not to mention the bunkers filled with a mix of sand and pea gravel. The practice facility was lacking at best. There were no targets or even distance marks to practice to. The one bright spot that I will point out is that the clubhouse is well maintained and has a pleasant look on the inside.

Average course across the board.

There aren't too many things to really say about this course. It is an older design with average conditions. Conditions are kept to playable standards. The greens are quite sloping, so expect some challenges with putting. It is not generally pricey, so it makes a good choice for a daily play.

Good layout with a nice mix of risk and reward.

I was pleasantly surprised by this course. It is kept in good condition. The layout is solid, and a fair challenge. There are about 80 well placed bunkers on the course. My only negative to that is the fact that many of them are dirt and therefore more like soft mud. The greens roll nicely. They are fairly consistant with the speed and hold a shot well. Overall, it was a great value, because the greens fees are pretty low.

Nice set of three 9's in Sun Lakes Chandler.

I have played Oakwood quite a bit. The 3 nines each have their own distinct feel. The layouts are a solid mix of risk/ reward. There are a number of water holes on the course, which is pretty well placed in the layout. The conditions are always pretty good. The greens are pretty consistent for speed and break. In the winter, pulic tee times are only available on Saturday and Sunday. Around April it will change back to daily access. The price for the course is always among the more reasonable in the East Valley. The drink cart is always around and the prices are really reasonable. One of my favorite all around courses for playaability and value.

A well maintained short course, that is perfect for beginners, and seniors.

Viewpoint is a short layout that is well kept and very playable for all levels. Granted, it won't be a real challenge to the advanced player. other than tempting you to try driving some par 4's and taking the risks for getting on in 2 on the 5's. It is however, laid out well, kept in playable shape, with pretty good greens and a friendly staff. I have often used this course as a place to play with those playing buddies who are over 25 handicaps. It gives them a fun round and allows me to push the limits of the course.

Beautiful layout with a tough design. Kept to the great standards of Troon Golf.

Ocotillo is among the finest courses in the east valley. Always well maintained to the highest standards. This 27 hole layout has water in play on 22 of the holes. Bring your "A" game for this course. Challenges abound, from the sloping greens, juicy rough and strategically placed water and bunkers. As with all Troon courses, use of the range and practice facilty is included in the greens fee. Tough to go wrong on this one.

Overall a good track with a mix of tough/easy holes.

Vistal is one of the better values in the Phoenix area. It is generally one of the lower priced courses in the valley, but remains well kept and playable. Situated at the foot of South Mountain, it offers views and moderate terrain changes. With its desert style layout, it carries a stiff penalty on most holes for missing the fairway. The greens are usually pretty quick, but do hold and roll pretty true.
