Always fun at Mare Island!

This is an OLD course! A little rough around the edges but tons and tons of personality.

I read the reviews about the sand traps before we played and they were as bad as advertised. Really makes it tough to get out around the greens. One thing I didn't read in the reviews was the bees. There were a ton of bees in basically all of the bunkers on the front side of the course, made them really tricky to get into and hit a shot.

Besides that, pace of play was awesome. Tee'd off at 1 PM on a Sunday after and cruised around in a little over 4 hours. Weather was perfect, mid-70s and value for a Sunday was a bargain at 30$.

A few things about the course. Totally shocked us when we got there, they had changed up the front 9 and back 9 on the course, not sure why but just something different.

Also, they don't have a ton of golf ball selections for purchase when you get there. So I would definitely do your shopping before hand and make sure you have plenty of balls.

Absolutely will be back in the summer!!

Fun course & great staff

I made the journey out to Tracy Golf Club on the 2nd of June, read some of the reviews before making the drive out there.

First thing I'll mention was the friendliness of the staff, everyone treated me like a king there. I was running a little late after about a 55 minute drive, but the gentleman in the pro shop made me feel like the course was mine. He even gave me free bucket of balls to get loosened up and told me whenever I was ready to hit the first tee.

It was a warm day, but it was warm everywhere. Very little wind which made the course playable.

The course does a really nice job of keeping the green in great shape, I was very impressed. All sorts of different types of holes, shorter par 4s, long par 4s. Reachable par 5s, makes you strategize your round based on how you're playing.

One thing you'll notice at this course is that off the fairways they let the grass go, which is incredibly smart based on water consumption in the bay area.

I really enjoyed my time at this course and I'll definitely be back

Really fun layout!

I was shocked by this course. Up in Lincoln for a golfing weekend. We played both Lincoln Hills courses, Darkhorse and Turkey Creek. I thought Turkey Creek was going to be a local metro course and something flat and easy.

I was mistaken! Course layout was fantastic. Huge Boulders all over the course make it challenging on certain holes but also provide some awesome scenery.

The course was in excellent condition although the course has recently punched their greens. Green definitely had holes in them from being punched including sand. I will NEVER fault a course for punching their greens. It's just bad timing to play a course after they have punched because they are basically impossible to putt consistently on. I totally understand this is the perfect time to punch the greens!

Staff was extremely friendly and considering we tee'd off at 3 PM on a Saturday afternoon, we had no problems finishing this beautiful course.

Excellent job hosting us for the day Turkey Creek, we will definitely be back!!

Best greens I've seen in a while

This was a true joy. A buddy of mine and I went up to Lincoln for a golfing weekend. We played Darkhorse, Lincoln Hills- HIlls Course, Lincoln Hills- Orchard Course and Turkey Creek.

We actually played the HIlls course on Friday which was our first round of the weekend. After the weekend was coming to a close, we agreed that the HIlls course was in the best condition and also was just a really fun layout. They did an excellent job of hosting us on Friday to a point where we actually finished our trip out on Sunday afternoon with another 18 holes at the Hills Course.

I can't remember the last time I paid $32 and played on greens that were this true. Darkhorse and Turkey Creek had just punched their greens, so both of those courses had a ton of holes in the greens and sand on them. Not Lincoln, Lincoln had punched about the same time but uses a newer technology for punching greens which is obviously working.

We will definitely be back!!

Awesome course!!

First time I was up in the Auburn area and I looked around at a few different courses. I am so happy I booked this course. The course is amazing, absolutely gorgeous course and the scenery is just breathtaking.

I will definitely be back here to play! Booked the round 2 days before I went up there for an extended weekend and played around 1 PM. Was able to get out and get all 18 holes finished before the sun went down. I was shocked that the course was only 20 dollars, and absolute steal!!

The course is definitely challenging but also fair and the holes are all different and unique. Great staff, everybody was super friendly and helpful for somebody who had never been there. Special should out to Dalton the starter, spent about 30 minutes chatting with him before I even tee'd off.

Fun course, nice layout

I hadn't been here in 10-15 years. Friend booked it on Golfnow for 31$ on a Saturday at noon; can't beat that price. A few observations:

No driving range- so keep that in mind if you like hitting balls before. You can go to another local course like Bridges (which is about a mile down the road)

Small putting green/chipping green- by the first hole to have a slight warm up

Fun layout- I read a lot of reviews in regards to the layout of the course. I truly didn't remember any of it. I liked the different variety of holes; some holes are short with blind second shots to a green below/above feet; some holes are straight away and just long!

Sand is terrible, which unfortunately is about par for a lot of courses right now with all this heat. There were a few decent traps on the course, but a lot of 'Under Repair' traps, and others that are just unplayable

Staff was very friendly in the pro shop and the restaurant where we grabbed a drink and some food afterwards

Pace of play was fantastic, we had a 2-some in front of us when we tee'd off and didn't see them the rest of the round. Even though we were a 4-some, we didn't see anyone behind us either!

Definitely will be back and give this course another crack :)

Great Course, staff always friendly!!

I absolutely love Deer Ridge golf course. I have had a ton of success here on and off the course. Can definitely get crowded on the Weekends but with Roddy Ranch and S. Lakes closing recently it's not shocking that Deer Ridge has taken on more golfers.

Great layout of the holes. Almost all holes are surrounded by houses but unlike Brentwood Golf Club, Deer Ridge doesn't feel like you're playing in someone's backyard every hole.

Course has a great variation of Elevation, sand traps, big greens, fast greens, target holes, risk/rewards holes which is why it will test almost every part of your game.

Staff is always incredibly friendly. They also have a grill where you can get a delicious Hamburger and/or an adult beverage :)

Mon-Fri you can find excellent and sometimes hard to believe great deals either on Golfnow or directly on Deer Ridge's website. Weekends after early morning play you can also find extremely reasonable tee times.

Wow, what a course!

I read some reviews before booking my tee time. Was in Vegas for about 4 days/3 nights and wanted to get away for a day and play golf without breaking the bank. I am so happy I found this place. Everything about this place was perfect. It's about 20 miles outside the strip (which is perfect distance), took about 30 minutes to get there. Nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas. Right at the base of Red Rock Canyon which we had hiked earlier in the morning. Weather was started to warm up by the time I tee'd off but was still really nice weather (mid- 80s). Course was absolutely gorgeous, so well maintained. Pace of Play was perfect. I played by myself, took my time / taking pictures & enjoying the scenery. Didn't see another group until I was on the 8th hole, I noticed they were way back on the 3rd hole and it was a 4-some of locals. Didn't wait on a shot all afternoon and wasn't hurried by anything either.

Staff was extremely friendly, the stare or marshall (before I tee'd off) gave me some tips about driving to the first tee (because it's about 1/2 a mile away from the clubhouse). In all reality it was easy enough to find, just follow the signs!

Course was short compared to what I'm used to playing. I started off on the Black Tees but moved back to the back tees after a few holes.

My biggest takeaway from the course was the greens. Absolutely fantastic, everything rolled so true. I honestly felt like I was going to make every putt, even though I only made a few!!

I would really recommend playing later in the afternoon. The early times times for this course were around $100-$120, so playing at 2 PM (having the course to myself) and paying $48 was a steal.

I will absolutely be back to the course and would recommend it to anyone!!

Eagle Vines always a lot of fun and challenging

No rain but course was definitely sloppy because of the recent rains which was expected. Course is always in good shape, always impressed with Tee Boxes and greens and surrounding areas. Really enjoy the layout of this course, some holes are fair with big fairways, some holes are narrow with vineyards on both sides.

Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Starter got us out about 15 minutes early (on a 1230 tee time) as a 2 some to jump ahead of a few 4 somes that ended playing behind us. We were very thankful for that because otherwise we might not have finished!

Course is in good shape, especially the greens

I was surprised by the course conditions. Considering the conditions of other courses around the area this course has really held up. Look, this is California and we're in a water shortage all over the state. Golf courses should NOT be using water as they please so of course some areas will really struggle, like areas off to the side of a hole.

BUT, Hiddenbrooke has done a nice job of keeping the fairways and greens in really nice conditions. A lot of the courses I have played recently have had slow greens with dead patches of grass in the middle of the fairway. I was pleasantly surprised.

Pace of play has always been a problem here, part of the reason is because they get a lot of foursomes, also the fact that the course is very challenging from the 1st hole to the 18th hole plays a factor. We tee'd off around 2:30 and didn't finish until close to 730 (getting close to dark). Definitely waited on a number of holes but once you realize it's busy that's just part of the journey. Honestly, how can I be mad that other golfers had the same idea I had!

Great value for the money, I believe we paid $27.

Another thing Hiddenbrooke has been dealing with that every other course has dealt with is their sand traps. Some traps are hard, you can blame some of that on the water shortage and the heat but regardless unless you're playing a country club you can expect marginal sand traps.

Overall, it was a great day at Hiddenbrooke. As always, lost a few balls, hit some good shots and had a blast. Staff is friendly and professional as always.

Also, like everywhere else they've had huge sales on their Nike clubs. We walked in and they had a golf bag with some brand new Nike Wedges. The Wedges were originally priced at $144 (of course marked up!) but were selling for $60. Heck of a deal for a brand new wedge.

Fast Greens!

Greens are really slick and fast! I was very surprised, by the back nine I learned that I needed to play my shots about 10-20 yards short to account for the roll. One bummer was the sand traps, a lot of courses in the area don't have sand, making shots extremely awkward and difficult. Some of the traps seemed better than others, but most of the greenside bunkers were really packed and tough to get under the ball.

Staff is always friendly here. Pace of play wasn't great, we were a twosome and got stuck behind a lot of foursomes so we had nowhere to go. It was fine because it allowed us to take our time and we eventually finished in a little over 4 hours.

Extremely challenging layout, a tough challenge for experienced golfers

This was a rare day at Roddy. Pace of play was amazing and the Wind wasn't hollowing. We tee'd off around 4 PM on a Saturday afternoon, got 18 holes in no problem.

Staff is always great here.

Course definitely seemed a little dry but considering the state of California it's understandable. Greens are always very fast and very challenging, really tough to find the speeds of the greens.

I love this place though. Every hole is completely different from the next. Many long tough par 3s, par 4s & par 5 but for every tough hole there's a favorable hole waiting around the corner.

The wind usually picks up in the afternoons but we just got one of those rare days. If there's a lot of wind I would definitely avoid playing here, really really challenging!!

Bunkers definitely need some sand, sand is very limited which makes it's very tough to pick the ball.

Fairways are definitely spotty with some brown patches..

Very Challenging Course in great shape

Really surprised to see this course in such good shape. A lot of courses are struggling around here with the obvious drought. This course was in fantastic shape considering everything going on. Green were extremely hard and fast, tough to get the right speeds.

Great views of the East Bay on the back nine when you start climbing up the hills. We tee'd off around 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and were still able to get 18 in.

Bunkers were in pretty good shape too, most bunkers around this area don't have much sand so that's was nice to see.

Definitely recommend this course, good value for the money when you find a later tee time!

Fun time at Metro, very windy!

Friday afternoon golf never a bad idea, tee'd off at 4 PM. Got 18 holes in without any problems. Starter was nice enough to let my buddy and I jump out a little early. Really didn't run into anyone all day, there were a few players behind us but pace of play was excellent. I was very impressed with the green, great shape. Really tough course with the wind. Seemed like I was hitting Driver & 5i/6i on every hole. With that being said, we had a blast, I would definitely recommend it to anyone around the Oakland area

Surprised by course conditions

I have played out here before. Been about a year or so. I'm used to this place being really run down but this past Saturday I was very surprised by the course conditions. Can't honestly compare this place to any other local courses like Deer Ridge, Roddy Ranch or Brentwood Golf Club BUT, since the last time I played the greens have gotten much better. They seem to be cutting the fairway, rough & green on a more regular basis. Plus you can't beat the grass driving range! I went out there to strictly practice without expecting anything other than a dog track. Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised that I got more than I expected. Keep up the work Bethel, definitely a ways to go but nice improvement

Great weather, great course!

Always a fun course and a nice get away from the 95 degree weather. As soon as you cross the tunnel it's 10-15 degrees cooler. Course is always is great shape, green were in fantastic shape! Staff is always very friendly. Even though the course was crowded we were able to scoot around in 4 hours. We tee'd off at 11:00 AM and finished around 3. We were able to replay for just 10 dollars!! They changed the course layout! Always a fun course

Booked and got a great rate. Played Saturday 05/31, booked the night before. Got a great rate of $39 for 3PM. Course had totally been changed. We drove over to the 'old' first hole that now had a 9th hole plaque on it! We were totally surprised. First hole was still a par 5 which is always fun out of the gate. I really liked the new layout. Have played here about 5 times and always have a blast. Course is always in good condition, lake had water in them, fairways and tee boxes cut really nicely. And to my surprise, the sand traps had sand in them!! Definitely always recommend this course to anyone, especially when you can find a good rate like $39!!!!

Sand Traps need some work!

No sand in the Sand Traps, makes it very difficult. Pace of play was amazing for a late Sunday morning (11 AM tee time). They just removed their driving range to build more houses, so it's a bummer that there is no range. In talking with the staff it sounds like they have no plans to ever replace it. We used to play tournaments out here but we've had to switch locations because of the no range.

Course is still fun to play and challenging. Just needs a little love. Green where in nice shape

Wow what a tough course

I love golf and I love a good challenge but WOW. That's all about I can say! Every single hole there is potential to lose a ball. I read reviews about this course before I played and I heard it was tough but what an adventure. About the actual course, there is no driving range, so if you need to warm up before playing you might want to stop on the way up there. They have a few nets that you can hit into to get loose. The holes themselves are very challenging, very pretty. Great views of San Jose. Lots of elevation on the golf course, uphill/downhill. I don't know if I had a straight shot all day. Not the kind of course you should think about walking, there is a pretty good distance in between each tee box. Also, you cannot drive the golf carts onto the course, which is partly why the fairways are in great shape. Because of this, you'll be walking a lot to find your ball so makes sure you bring plenty of clubs on your adventure. Even though the course is really tough, every hole the fairway is reachable and 'fairly' open, as long as you don't hook/slice the ball. The hardest part about this course is distances. When you're 200 feet above the fairway, it's really hard to tell how far you want to hit a 200 yard shot. Normally it would be 5 iron or maybe 3 Iron Hybird but really you should be hitting 8 iron or 7 iron. There are a few greens there that seem impossible to get the ball to stop, I heard the course slope was 150+ so I knew going there the greens had to be tough.

**Like I mentioned, no range. Putting green is pretty nice though.

still a great place to play

Ever since Boundary Oak was bought out a few years back they have done a great job with the course. Right now (in the Bay Area) it's really hard to find a golf course that isn't dry. But, Boundary has done a fantastic job with their greens. They have maintained them very well. I have played here for years, going back to high school. The course itself hasn't changed much. The driving range is pretty good, it's uphill (which is a little bit of a bummer) and they have a big putting green and chipping green area.
