About
Consistency is the goal. Score isn't always relevant, just getting out to play is. Love old style course design with small greens. After over 40 years of playing I am still learning how to play this silly game and now over 70 I am probably playing as well as I ever did because I play smarter and I don't try for the big hit with a more controlled swing even though I can still hit longer than many my age. Given the opening I can play easily in less than 3 hours. I always preferred to walk but a creaky back dictates that. However I do walk with a push cart when it isn't excessively hot and humid or really wet underfoot on relatively flat or easy walk courses.

Heritage Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/26/2019Good December golf
On an relatively mild high 40's December day the day after Christmas this was a nice relaxing getaway from the holiday routine. The course was in very good condition even as the greens were a little Velcro like, which is not unexpected in winter. Course will be closed for a couple months so probably won't get back there till early Spring. It's a nice break from 4 plus hours to go and play 9 holes. Not a good course to walk overall. Houses around buffered nicely from the course.
Heritage Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/20/2019Improving conditions
Course is in best shape it has been. Not a bad 9 holes but there are two holes that are bad designs. They can be playable once you figure them out but that doesn't make them good holes. Overall it's a fun course.
Lebanon Valley Golf Course
Played On 11/05/2019nice layout
Fun golf course. Blind par 3 was strange. Back to back par 3's and back to back par 5's. Hills dominate and small greens but very playable course. The 10th hole could be reworked a little to provide more fairway to hit to off the tee. If I lived in the area I'd play there from time to time. Overall course in good shape including greens. Small greens fit the yardage of course.
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - East Course
Played On 10/30/2019been a while
I have not played the East course for maybe five years and that was my only time on the course. But I have played the West course a few times recently and the East course is every bit as challenging, it's just a different type of golf course. I still don't like the 17th hole however. Late season aeration was a disappointment but we adapted with a two putt rule in general. It was in the 60's but damp with an on again off again drizzle.
Middletown Country Club
Played On 10/25/2019Old school
Old school course. Tight, hilly, small greens. Course in good shape and greens fast. These greens were not designed for today's green speeds. Too many unnecessary trees.
North Course Golf Course at Stonewall Links
Played On 10/17/2019Solid layout
This is a solid layout and some fun holes. One little odd thing was a wall diagonally across a par 5 hole. It was windy and chilly so would like to have another shot on a better day. Good bunkering sets up risk reward on some par 4 holes At least one of the photos on file on this page is from the old course, not the North course..
PineCrest Country Club
Played On 10/14/2019needs detail attention
I haven't played here for a few years. Always liked the course layout. Nice mix of long and short holes. On this Fall day the course was in very good shape. Observations from today are too many trees that serve no purpose like along the side and in front of the 17th tee for starters. Also large pine trees need to be cut up from the ground for health if not just to speed up play, but could cut out a bunch and might not even be too noticeable. One consistent are in some places houses are too close to the course.
LuLu Country Club
Played On 10/01/2019poorly run
I like the layout and I have played it before and after the fire. First issue is that I don't know why so many single players were put out on the course that rushed up behind groups to play through. I makes the players in groups feel rushed and it frustrates the single players for various reasons. Even as a single player can play faster, a single has no standing on the golf course. I had looked into membership for a place to go and play a few holes if I didn't have time for 18 holes, but it seems to be just a public golf course with no control as in on course rangers. New clubhouse looks great and I am sure it will be nice inside as well. Course overall in good condition.
Heron Glen Golf Course
Played On 09/19/2019well conditioned
Perhaps the best condition public course I have seen in the area. Fairways were good and greens were better. I don't go there often but maybe I should. Some holes need to be seen and played to learn. Very tough finishing hole for sure and back nine par 5's are interesting.
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course
Played On 09/18/2019Improving conditions
Fairways coming back with bluegrass being over seeded with bent grass. Greens roll good but slower than normal currently. Pace of play great until last five holes that appeared backed up due to one foursome.
Hi sixeagles. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course!
Melrose Country Club
Played On 09/16/2019classic old style
This is a classic old style course using hilly terrain and small greens in the design. There are enough trees lining the fairways but not enough to make them unplayable. This first trip was a learning experience playing some of these holes. Unfortunately the course conditions are average at best. Most of the greens were good and they putted well but a handful nestled in trees had bare spots. It isn't a long course but two par 3's in 8 and 17 require a long iron or a hybrid along with accuracy. Accuracy is a key for the entire course.
Shore Gate Golf Club
Played On 09/09/2019must play
If you are looking for a place to play when in South Jersey put Shore Gate on your list. This is a quality golf course that will challenge from every set of tees. If the ninth hole doesn't get your attention then surely the 15th will. It is in excellent shape and the big undulating greens can run fast.
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course
Played On 08/22/2019weather worn
I took advantage of a hot deal. It was cart path only and the fairways show a lot of weather damage from heat then excessive rains and it was cart path only. For the hot deal price this was OK. Had I had to pay full price I might have been disappointed. Layout is good and course very playable from gold tees for me as I transition from regular to senior tees this year. Greens were good but understandably cut longer and slow. Great place to play golf.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course. We hope to see you again in the future.
Bulle Rock Golf Club
Played On 08/21/2019best in state
I don't play much golf in Maryland but there can't be many better golf facilities than this one. No two holes even remotely alike and with six sets of tees anyone can enjoy it.
Galen Hall Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2019need to know the course
There are a handful of holes you need to play a couple times to learn how to play them. The second hole was very quirky and the 14th you had to know yardage for two creeks that cross the fairway. Overall enjoyed the course. It's not long but the hills, particularly the side hill fairways, make up for that. Two long par 3's played tough. Course seems to have several areas with water damage, some tees were in bad shape but the greens were good. On the slow side and tricky breaks to read, or not read, into some putts.
Bensalem Township Country Club
Played On 08/08/2019Average
I had not played here for a while. I was surprised that course conditions were mostly better than average. The greens putted well while the fairways were OK but some of the tees were just dirt. Layout is OK and back nine is a stiffer test than the front.
Middletown Country Club
Played On 07/31/201914 holes
Took a chance to get golf in with an iffy weather forecast but it was on a hot deal. It started to deteriorate and picked up my drive on 15 and called it a day just in time as thunder and some lightning and rain hit as I got to the car. Played as a single and moved along front nine in a shade over an hour. Caught another single on 10 and we were behind a twosome that wasn't slow but impeded our pace. Overall course was in decent shape and compared to a couple other daily fee courses nearby just over the river in NJ it was better. Staff was friendly as usual.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you a better experience in the future. Middletown Country Club thanks you!
Golden Pheasant Golf Club
Played On 07/26/2019Average local public course
This course if often referred to as one with great par 3 holes. It is an average layout packed together with low areas that always seem wet. Some fun holes with the par 3's then mostly just golf holes. I've played there a handful of times this year and the conditions are noticeably going the wrong way. On this last visit the turf conditions show deterioration of a good base with thin and bare spots. Staff is great in pro shop and grill room.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Golden Pheasant Golf Club. We hope to see you again in the future.
Mays Landing Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2019fun
Fun layout to play. Inland from the high priced shore layouts and easy to get to from the Philly area. Fun course with some interesting holes. Don't need driver but only a couple holes take it out of your hands. Staff is always great and grill room top notch as well. Greens were slow but given extreme weather it is understandable to keep them cut longer to prevent potential burnout.
Gambler Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/11/2019fun course
Aside from a couple long par 5 holes the course was very playable for the 72-y-o from the white tees. The holes are designed so that even short par 4's require thinking on how to play them with doglegs and ponds. The greens were on the slow side but they were very good and smooth and the ball rolled well. The only negative was we had to sit for 45 minutes and wait to play even as a large group was coming off the course and nobody was teeing off on one or ten right in front of us. Once on the course it was wide open.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Middletown Country Club.
