Review
Great course. Pro shop and bar staff were helpful and provided great service.
Bad shape and service for a Troon Course
Customer service was this course biggest feature, all that great customer service vanished w Covid. Staff was NOT helpful and nice, what a change!!!! On top of that, no greetings, course layout directions given, NO sand in either sand can, not enough water on course for summer and for the sake of God, this is AZ summer, put air conditioners in restrooms if your still going to charge a premium rate this time of year.
VERY DISAPPOINTED TROON EXPERIENCE
Great golf experience
I’ve played a lot of the top rated courses in Arizona. In my opinion, both Troon north courses are easily in the top 5 , if not the two best courses in the state that are open to the public.
You'll be glad you played
Played Monument at twilight and almost no one on the course. The course is in fantastic condition, however one of the staff indicated it will be closed a few weeks for maintenance.
No doubt, it's an expensive day, but the course layout and condition are worth it. Staff are really good and clubhouse is also good.. locker room, pro shop, restaurant. I recommend playing a little later in the day so you're not rushed.
One disappointment was that the range closes at noon on Mondays and at 3pm other days.
I rated some amenities as good (not excellent) because if I rated higher, the review my not seem legit.
Enjoy!
Very slow play , 6 hour round. Staff wasn’t friendly.
Troon North (Both Courses)
The staff was very professional had the start down clock work. We played both courses. Courses challenging but fair. The courses were both in excellent condition. The greens were excellent and very consistent hole to hole.
Pace of play is a bit slow so plan on 4.5 hours..which is the designated “pace of play”. We played Monument course in under 3.5 hours as the third tee time in the AM as a twosome as one group allowed us to play thru but the first group did not.
I would definitely play both courses again!!
No Range on Monday.
Rule 24-8, if the range is closed you get a free mulligan off every tee on the front nine.
Seriously, how can you have the range closed on one of the busiest days of the year. And not let anyone know before they book as you would if the course was just punched?
Challenging and in great shape
My only down critique of this course was the price. Had to pay well over double what I think a round should cost. I realize it was during the WM Open but no need to gouge tourist. Will likely not return for that reason. Course was in fantastic shape. Pace of play was calm not pressured to go faster. Stunning location/homes/views.
Don't Do It
If you like paying a fortune for golf, enjoy waiting every shot and playing in 5+ hours, these are the courses for you. The course layouts are great, but wouldn't recommend for 15+ handicappers. Sadly, Troon mgmt packs the tee sheets which makes the experience unbearable. The privileged hacks who play these courses never fix their ballmarks so it's like putting on the moon. Was the exact same situation when I played last year. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won't be back.
Too expensive for 15 holes
We had a 2:10 tee time - and there were a number of people who teed off after us. We were only able to play 15 holes before it was too dark (and too cold) to continue play. At $250/round apiece, this was not a very good value!
