Best of 2016: Top 25 golf destinations

We've spent much of 2017 showcasing the best golf courses of 2016 according to your ratings and reviews. Now, it's time to look at the destinations as the total sum of its parts. We looked at each destination's review count and rating averages to determine which ones left golfers most satisfied in 2016.

Our destinations are determined based on courses within a 30-mile radius from the destination's center point. A minimum of 100 reviews were needed within the destination in 2016 to be considered. (We combined several destinations for this list that are close enough together there were many overlapping courses, including Gaylord-Traverse City, Seattle-Tacoma and Reno-Lake Tahoe).

The result is a list with a mix of bucket-list destinations (in fact, our No. 1 destination may be America's most coveted) and some lesser-known hotspots that may be worth a look if you're in the area. We've also included the top-rated course within the destination based on 2016 reviews. Many of these destinations earned a spot in our Golf Advisor Top 50 courses in the U.S. or subcategory lists.

Click on each destination to see their Top 10 courses according to your ratings, as well as articles and more courses to play.
