Silverhorn golf course
My first time was not a very good one at this course. There were several greens that were in terrible shape, sand traps that were flooded due to their watering system and just an overall unsatisfactory feeling when I left this golf course. This has been a very mild summer in Oklahoma as far as heat goes with ample rain and to see the course in that sort of shape is vet disappointing. Needless to say I won't be returning to this course.
Disappointed
Many of the greens were pretty rough and in need of a redo. This once proud golf course has really gone downhill. It's been a few years since I've played Silverhorn, and my expectations were simply higher. It started with getting a cart that had so much play in the steering wheel that is was totally unsafe to drive, I did see a Marshall on the course, but he seemed to be indifferent about there being four groups being backed up on one hole. I will say that Golfnow.com was awesome, as my tee time was perfect, however if would be a great idea if there were a slot for Jr. Golfers so the course would offer more accurate pricing from your site. Overall it was a pleasant experience, just a little disappointed!
Ground Under Repair
The greens are in bad shape. Hold your cash and play somewhere else. Their current state may take a year or two to get them back in shape. Sad to see and I like Silverhorn, but I can't justify spending my money there.
I would like to see the old Silverhorn come back...
Female. 65 years
Golf course in great shape. Fun holes. Pretty golf course.
No grass??
Apparently the short-term high heat has taken it's toll on your golf course. Because we have had plenty of rain for the grass to grow. Have never seen your greens in worse shape. The fairways are plush, tee boxes well below average, depending on which one you stand on!! With a little water, once/twice a week, MAYBE could get a tee in the ground! Just very disappointed in my first trip out there this year, now i know why, and will wait on a report from fellow golfers before i return!! Don't waste your money this year!
Could be a great inexpensive course, if....
... it had signs at every hole depicting the hole layout. Several were missing and there were no hole depictions on the scorecard. This made it very difficult for a new player. Sand traps were dirt traps.
... And if distance markers were more prominent. On some holes, we had no idea what direction to go.
Also, $3.50 for a beer is a little steep.
Needs improvements
I did like the layout. Very challenging, especially a couple of the par 5's. First, all red clay base and hard as concrete. Appears to not get much water at all. Sand traps look like a mixture of clay and very little sand.
2nd, the greens were in poor shape (well half of them).
It was very hot when I played (low-90's). I had a tee time at 1:30 and the pace was in the 5+ hour range. No marshall that kept things moving. It cost me $35 to play. The condition of the course should yield $25 max/18 (includes cart).
Again, layout is great! Staff is friendly. If they were to were to through a few bucks in it, it would be pretty nice for play.
At anything more than $25, I will not be back.
Could do with some TLC
I played here early on a Saturday morning after a long flight the day before. I was quite easy to navigate around but felt they could do more with the design. Some holes were boring, but some were very interesting. I agree with another reviewer being too expensive and would go the extra yard and say it would be worth only $15 a round
Great looking course
Great round of golf (which included lunch) and beautiful views on the course. Will go back.
Not too bad
Ok course, needs more layout info, signature hole was very difficult, I could use all the help I can get
Whatever
Very friendly staff. Course is in good condition and fun to play!
Discount Play
Played off the Golf Now discount. Great deal for the price and a decent meal included.
friendlier course than most
Most courses in the central oklahoma take you for granted. Silverhorn goes out of its way to value your patronage. Special packages for golfers, such as instruction, practice balls, and meal specials make Silverhorn stand out against higher priced courses.
Great Value
Golf Now Fire Special very low cost. The course was very wet after nearly 12" of rain in the days prior to play so we expected damage to traps. Many traps flooded and/or washed out also significant damage near streams. They will need to make some repairs but at $22 all in (cart & clubs) for 18 holes it was much better than I expected. Par 5's require blind shots to target areas. The free rental clubs were in fair condition, at best..
Kinda of expensive for the price
Course is ok. Played silver tees made for good scores; course set up is nice. $3 for a small Gatorade is too high. Would play again, just at a cheaper rate (paid $35/each fees + cart).
Great course
This was a great course for the money. The only downside was the wet conditions but that is completely out of the courses control. We have had a week of hard rain, if it weren't for the weather I would have given them a 4 star
Slow play
The course itself was in ok condition. The fairways were pretty hard and a few of the greens were being aerated at the time I played. There was some sort of scramble going on before I started playing and it took an hour and a half to play the first 4 holes on the back nine so we ended up just going home.
About right for the GolfNow fee
We condition about right for this time of year. Kind of a tricked up course but overall not bad.
a good course with friendly staff
the 6th hole green looks great with thick rough is now removed widening the back off the green. the change makes great sense in terms of layout and having fun of play. staffs are busy but very professional and courteous with huge smile. overall, it is a good course for fun and enjoying managing some challenge on the 3rd and 4th holes. a fun course that is worth revisit.
Very Technical course with lots of creeks and woods
I love playing this course. I am not the best golfer but even though there are a lot of woods and creeks it is a beautiful course and very fun to play.
I agree with all of your comments
