This used to be a nice course
This course is in bad shape. Time of year is partly to blame but course has been neglected. Full of people and slow. Where's all the money going? Only marshal I saw was looking for lost balls and picking up trash.
End of the Year
The Fairways were like hitting off concrete. All the greens were in bad shape. I realize it's a time of year thing but, I heard it was like that all year. ):
Needs redesign !
Fairways are always rock hard like playing on pavement but the greens are a good challenge ! Just have never cared for the layout of this course ! But will play it a few times a year. Maybe a turf make over would change my mind !
Easy to get to and tough to play
Had a great time with friends. Silverhorn's staff was very accommodating and cordial. Pace of play was great. The course was in great shape - with the exception of one hole where the green was being replaced. I recommend Silverhorn Golf Course to all in oKC or just passing through.
Course is nice and usually a good time, but this time it was too packed.
From the beginning we were waiting a while before we could get to the next hole. We found out half way through that it was because they booked 2 5-person groups back to back. So the length of their play took forever and trickled down to us, 5 groups back. It was really ridiculous because it usually isn't like that. And there wasn't that many people on the course anyways. Overall, it's a fun course as long as there aren't huge groups playing.
Could be a really nice course. Several green were in pretty bad shape.
Luckily Edmond OK is loaded with golf courses. I will be back to Silverhorn, but not this year.
Silverhorn might be losing its charm
The facilities are starting to be a little run down, there are marshals but they only hunt for golf balls. The staff is always very friendly, but pace of play is usually quite slow. Unfortunately there greens on the front nine are almost in playable, the back is much better, the fairways are ok in most places but a lack of Marshals allows most players to park too close to greens so many are hard red dirt close to the greens, overall this is a lower cost place to play I used to love but it is becoming close to losing my buisness.
Pace of play was horrid
Greens were in pretty bad shape. Amazing how tight the fairways were. Hardly any grass!! What was worse was the pace of play. Waited 15 mintues on every shot and tha Marshall never did anything. Hadn't played Silverhorn in a few years and I won't be back. Very unimpressed
Too much money for conditions
Several holes were jacked. Either by long grass or awful greens. Too much money to pay for the condition of the course.
First time player
I tried Silverhorn because it popped up on my GolfNow app with a good deal. I had heard varying reviews, some good and some very bad. I would put it somewhere in the middle/average category. It is much like almost every American Golf course I've ever played...a track that could be outstanding, but that ends up being incredibly average because AmGolf won't spend the necessary investment to keep the course in top condition. Several greens that don't have adequate ventilation were unplayable on over 75% of the putting surface.
It's unfortunate that the course isn't in better condition, because the layout has a great aesthetic look to it.
Greens need work
I have always enjoyed the layout of this course. Some greens are in horrible condition. Most putts do not hold line due to conditions. I hope they can get this turned around soon. This use to be one of the best tracks in the Oklahoma City area.
don't go
We went and the course was in terrible condition, they have this thing called soccer golf. The course was tore up do to people kicking balls off the greens, driving carts on the greens.played this sourse 50 times and its going down hill from day to day.i will not go back ever and hope others will take heed to this review and save the head ache.PLAY LINCOLN PARK WEST
Problem Greens
a third of the greens had real problems. very little grass alive on them. too many other good courses to play regardless of price.
Good Course, Greens Fried
I really enjoy playing this course. They have good deals on green fees and equipment, and the staff is very friendly. Some of the course was dry and rock solid along with a few of the greens having about five blades of grass on them. I know this isn't the norm for the course, so I expect to see it back in good condition soon.
Average at best
The staff is friendly and always gets me out very quickly. Course maintenance has seemed to have declined throughout the year. A couple greens are in poor shape, one tee box had large tufts of crab grass on it and number 10 rough had just been mowed and was covered in piles of cut grass. Other than that the course is ok. They run a special on Tuesdays, $22.22 for a green fee and cart. You can't beat the value. I play this course often, but only on Tuesdays.
Good time out for the cost
Enjoyable round of golf with friendly staff to accommodate your needs before you teed off.
Greens.
This course has always been one of my favorites to play. It has been in great shape until recently? The greens are the worst I have seen in a very long time. I hope that they get these fixed because this course layout it fun for me to play.
