Good course
I enjoyed playing White Pines. It is a challenging course and in very good shape.
great course
The course was beautiful. Very well maimtained I can't wait to play it again.
White pine
Not a bad course for the money. It was super windy but still had fun. Carts were nice and the course was in good shape. I will play there again for sure.
Second Roung of the Year
The course was lightly populated for a Sunday, probably due to it being Easter Sunday. Walked right on after securing tee time on golfnow.com and had a great time. After a long winter it was great to be outside and golfing again.
good conditions, not so good staff
The biggest problem with this course is the sand bunkers, not beach sand but hard like concrete, giant bunker in between holes 11 and 12 all solid clay like material. Staff could be more friendly and organized as well. Challenging holes, well kept course.
Good course, worth the 30 minute drive from Toledo.
The course's name suits it to a tee. All pine trees within the boundaries of the course. Very few (if any) leafy trees on the course. Must be a pleasure to play in the fall. Decent layout, only a few blind shots. The 150 markers boarder each side of the fairway, so it gives to a perspective on where to aim. Greens were pretty fast and in very good shape. Several large waste bunkers on some holes but not really in play unless you had a wayward shot. No trick shots everything is pretty much out in front of you. Average to below average club house. A little bit off the beaten path to find. Paid $25 on GolfNow for a Saturday morning. Well worth it and will play again.
The course has a nice layout, rewards good shots and penalizes bad shots. It's pretty well maintained. However, pace of play was slow.
I liked the golf course. The holes were interesting and required you to put the ball in the right places or be penalized. The conditions were good for a public course. My only complaint would be with pace of play. It felt like the course was over-booked. Despite having a Sunday afternoon tee time there were waits and back-ups on every tee on the front nine. The waiting resulted in a 2 3/4 hour front nine. Things opened up on the back nine and we played it in two hours.
Great value, really nice greens
Although the pace of play was a little slow it picked up on the back nine. The staff at White Pines is always very nice and the course is well maintained. Greens are always quick with some interesting pin locations. Grounds crew could be a little more aware of the players would be only negative. A fun track to play that actually plays a little longer than posted.
This course is well maintained and well organized.
It is a twenty plus mile trip that is well worth the time and money to get there. The entire staff meets and greets you very warmly.
Short & narrow with fast, hard greens...fun.
This is a rural course with a decent layout and some challenging holes.
The course plays 6778 from the black tees and about 6200 from the next closer set. The tee boxes are well maintained and elevated. The fairways were watered, soft and weed-free. Some are narrow and require precise shots, there are medium to large pines in play on most of them and many have water in play via several ponds and two creeks. Two of the par 5's have OB close on the left side and the par 5, 15th, is a 90 degree dogleg left that requires a 215-235 tee-shot to clear the woods and stay out of the water; which runs along the right side of the fairway and turns with it. The green complex, which is reachable in two, runs 90 degrees to the fairway. It undulates, has woods directly behind and a pond in front; this is a great hole and it is smart to lay-up. There are slight elevation changes throughout the course and the greens, mostly bunkered, were hard and fast the day we played. It was very difficult to hold them with a short iron. The rough is thick, especially around the greens, and the pines are mostly trimmed up above ground level if you need to punch-out.
The only downsides to this course are the close proximity of some holes and the amount of play by inexperienced golfers. On occasion, the group on the adjoining hole may be hitting from your fairway and the pace of play can be painful if you're behind a group of high-handicappers. But, don't let this dissuade you. Most everyone who plays there is polite, in my experience, the country setting is quiet and this is a fun course.
The staff is nice, the carts are new and there are some challenges. I highly recommend it if you haven't played there.
Greens were in great shape. Staff was friendly and professional.
I feel that White Pines is one of the nicer public courses in the area. The amount we paid for our round of golf would be a deal at twice the price (but please don't raise them). The staff was very friendly and professional. You better be able to hit a straight shot off the tee or you will find yourself deep in the pines. I will definitely be back to play White Pines soon.
awsome course...awsome deal
This course is a great place to play. The course was in great shape and pace of play was beyond great. We had an early morning tee time and did not wait once on a shot.
as stated below
course was in good condition for all the rain we had considering an A rating at this time
Very nice golf course
Very well maintained fast greens over all a good golf experience !
Young adults running it, seem to overbook. We had another group stating they had the same tee time
Very slow play on weekends. No rangers keeping groups moving. But the course played well.
tee time
I booked my tee time online and was told at the golf course that I need to also call the golf course for a tee time because the online times don't match up with theirs. I was told that I was lucky that they had a spot open near the time I had selected or I could have wasted my time driving there. If I pay a fee to book this tee time, then I feel I should have priority. The course was challenging and fun. I just wish the process to get on the course was not as challenging!
Good layout for the area.
Good course with unique features. Have to hit it straight to score here.
Great layout, great condition, great facilities, great price.
Great course, one of the best around at a great price. Much nicer than you typical country course! Rough is not all weeds and is well fertilized.
Great Track. Great Price.
The course was well maintained. The pine trees leave a beautiful pine straw covering near the Tee Box that reminds you of Augusta National. The fairways and Tee boxes were well maintained and the greens were pristine.
Playing from the Pro Tees (Black) is a challenge. Making for long Par 3's and tough Par 5's. There are ponds, grassy mounds, well placed bunkers and hidden winding streams that make choosing the right club difficult. Dog leg distances were perfect. Too much club and you lose your ball to a hazard. Too little and you're not making the turn.
When we arrived our cart was waiting for us and ready to go. With rain in the area we had towels on the cart for our clubs and our cart seat. This attention to detail alone will bring me back and recommend to others.
Hidden gem in Swanton.
Nice course, lot of doglegs. Greens are in great shape. Course is well maintained.
