Good practice course
It's still a little roughed up from Irma in 1 & 9 ... Still a fun course to hone your game...
The manager was very authoritarian after the fact that we had paid for four players, when we had 3 but could only book 2 or 4 with the intent of having 3 with one rider. She was so rude and belittled our friend telling her she could not walk along with our 3 some, she did not intend to play and we had agreed to pay the course amount so we could be together. Sorry to say we have have played there 3 times and have never been treated so disrespectfully..
Terribly rude and unprofessional staff person at checking for 810 am tee time.
Great place to hone your game !!!
We don't have a lot of options here in The Keys so I'm personally glad and happy to have a course within easy access to play and work on my game !!!
1st Time this year
Just nine holes. You go around twice for 18 holes using a different color flag. Several tee boxes are 5x5 mats because the ground in hard dirt. Several fairways are bare for 10 -200 yards. You just move the ball to the nearest patch of grass or weeds and hit from there. The greens were in good shape, they were average speed, maybe 8-9, a bit bumpy too. The lady that checked us in on 1-9-23 was fantastic. Great personality. She got everyone checked in fast. Asked if we had any questions about the course or needed any drinks. Smiled, laughed and joked the entire time. This was at 0800. I will play again and recommend others to play, but I will tell them about the course conditios.
Battling back from hurricane
Kudos to the Staff who are working hard to return this track to normality. Playing one-half of the course twice via two pins on the green due to damage from the storm. .System works and there wasn't any significant backup as a result. Will return in the future.
My experience
Overall: worth going to if you want to golf in the middle Keys.
I don’t remember the name of the female staff member, but she was very friendly, helped us get our carts ready and helped explain the course layout to us as you play the same 9 holes twice but to different flags.
The gentleman in the pro shop was not overly friendly, pretty much your standard pro shop guy iykyk, but is par for the course as they say.
Course conditions were mixed. Fairways were in real tough shape in many spots, however the greens were in surprisingly good shape. Good greens are much more important imo so that was cool.
One of the Rangers there was playing on the course on his day off apparently and on the 14th hole told us we needed to pick up the pace, which would have been fine if we were playing slow, but we had just reached the 3 hour mark which puts us at a 4 hour pace for 18. We had a foursome, two of which were beginners, but we had been keeping them moving; having them drop with us after bad tee shots and picking up after 5-6 shots of not being putting. Idk didn’t seem like it was warranted but hey what do I know.
All in all it’s golf so like awesome, but I’ve had better experiences out there at the end of the day.
Also it was $140 for “18” with a cart and rental clubs (was on vacation)
Old course needs a lot of work
The fairways and tee boxes were very worn down with weeds and patches without grass everywhere. The greens were mowed but most had mixed stands of grasses and a lot of diseases. Overall for the price in the keys it’s one of the few options and okay for casual golfers.
Not Great
Way overpriced for current conditions. Rental clubs are pretty well worn. I would recommend going to another course if price or course conditions are important factors.
Hurricane took out back 9 so we had to play front twice. Layout was fun and could definitely see that at one time this was a beautiful course. Hopefully they can bring it back to its full potential. We had a good time and will play again.
Terrible
This has got to be the worst course I have ever played. Let alone for 70 dollars. I wouldn’t pay 5 dollars to play this goat track. Do not play there. You will be let down.
