Course condition
Absolutely the worse course I've ever played. Course was in horrible condition and needs to be shut down immediately.
Sombrero
Some fairways were like desert with rocks & most fairways were like pot holed Alabama dirt roads
Ya still have to hit it straight !!!
It's not the fanciest course you'll ever play, however, it'll still give you a chance to play most of the clubs in your bag. The course is still reeling from hurricane Irma, but continues to heal and look forward to play 18 holes when the new construction is complete ...
You get what you pay for !
I've played this course six or seven times and even though there are some rough spots (mainly a result of hurricane Irma) I find it fun and a great opportunity to work on my game. Still have to hit it straight and use the right club ... It ain't Augusta National but I'll still play it again soon and for a lot less $$$$ ...
Course is rundown, and fairways need a lot of work
It’s the only show in town, unless you want to drive over an hour. Course is very run down, and most fairways need a lot of work. Only the back nine is currently open, and the front nine is being completely redone. On the positive side, the greens are in decent shape.
Drive to key west and play …hopefully in 2 years
I have never wanted to give a bad rating but the cost I paid and the lack of anything was terrible for someone calling themselves a “country club”. I had no idea where the tee boxes started or ended of fairway was versus rough versus green. Even understanding they lost 9 holes in a hurricane last year doesn’t mean the other 9 should be dirt tracks. Anything over $10 to play here is robbery. In April the were already out of merchandise for the season and closed the pro shop at 1pm. I should have walked off the course after hole 3
just twice around the same nine holes
I know it is in the Keys, but this course is over-priced, not in very good shape, and is advertised as 18 holes which it is not. 9 greens with 2 pins, and the same 9 tee boxes. I guess next trip we'll just pay the extra money and play in Key West.
Not Bad for the Money
The course is in very rough condition, but it’s not too bad for the cost of a round.
Major Need of TLC
I recently played this course and was shocked, and disappointed, at the poor condition. There were large patches of dirt, the hole markers were so faded you could not read the numbers, and there is no range or putting green to practice.
The staff mentioned Hurricane Irma destroyed the course, but that was nearly 5 years ago. It's really the only option in that area and I suspect there is no urgency to repair given people continue to play there.
It cost $55 to play nine holes and quite honestly, the most I would pay is about $10. Just know going in that I consider it the worse course I have ever played and/or walked on.
The staff was very friendly ....
Half way there
Course could be nicer. I understand the hurricane ripped it up, however it won’t fix itself. Needs some TLC, markers, Club cleaners, etc…
KeyWest Golf course
This is a course you must play several times otherwise you're going to be a bit disappointed. The course is difficult the first few times, then you learn that you must hit the ball straight, long at times and layup at times. The greens are usually very fast ( I guess about 12-13 on the Stemp meter). The greens are very difficult to hold thus the layup. There are several holes with narrow fairway and mangroves on both sides. If you go into the mangroves good luck finding your ball. Fairways are better than decent, but the sand traps have a lot of coral, some of which is the size of golf balls - I don't recommend hitting out of the fairway traps. All-in-all it's a pretty good course.
