Really enjoyable course
I've played Kingsthorpe a number of times and always held off reviewing it because several times I'd encountered a somewhat unhelpful/snobbish attitude from the club pro. Apparently, he's now moved on, and yesterday I encountered the direct opposite. Arriving for my tee time, they had no record of my booking. Oops, I'd made it clicked the wrong day - the day previous - on the golfnow calendar.
They could see it was a genuine mistake - I explained I'd never book a Wednesday as I'm at work all day - and just said 'Ah, just go round, no problem.'
So I did, and once again enjoyed my round around the pocket-sized but attractive and challenging course tucked away in the middle of Northampton. The greens were slow, and as good as you can expect really after all the wet weather of the last month.
You can lose a fair few balls around Kingsthorpe and the steep slopes will give you a heck of a workout, but it's a lovely course with a relaxed vibe, and well worth it for the money.
Golf in good condition after the recent storms
Greens were constant
Winter tees in play
Very friendly members and staff
Nice course
Played in a four ball whilst working away from home picked a nice day weather wise even though it's a short course still some tricky holes especially on the back nine some lovely holes greens were good but slow but fine for October overall would definitely play again great price as welll
Brilliant Course and great ambience.
The course was very good and we loved the scenery and it made it into a lovely day and the staff in the bar were exceptionally good and the food was amazing to.
Well done to Kingsthorpe for a fantastic day had.
Pro shop ruined before day began.
Pro shop pro was extremely rude, arrogant and unpleasant. Nice course met some lovely people. The gold pro in the shop was horrible, enough said wont be going back.
Undulating
Nicely kept course, quite forgiving, basic amenities, no practice Green.
Great condition considering the weather we’ve had
The course was in great condition considering the weather we’ve had, my only feedback would be that the greens were a bit unpredictable some fast some slow and no real inbetween. The man in the pro shop was friendly and welcoming so not sure on previous remarks about him I had no issue what do ever. We will definitely go back and play again a tip I was given from one of the members unfortunately after the round was that all the greens run to the right of the church spire will see if that works next time.
Great course!
Awful setup between GolfNow and the club, as so many other reviews have stated! Had to start at 13:50 instead of 13:30 but that was fine. Glad I hadn’t come from London as others did, who lost their tee time due to the complete inefficiencies that this golf club had with GolfNow!
Great course thought, very friendly pro.
Don’t book via golfnow
We booked the day before for a 7:30 tee off, when we arrived the guy at the pro shop started off with “you aren’t playing today lads it’s members only till 11:00” considering we had driven an hour and paid £40 each it wasn’t a great start! He said golfnow times are always wrong and is never aligned with their system… brilliant. Why even link your business and course to golfnow if you know that’s the case?? He managed to talk to some other members and squeeze us in so we got to play. It turned out to be the quietest course I’ve played and it seemed like we had no one in front or behind us and seemed to only actually get busy later on. A really enjoyable course and well maintained, the local members were also super friendly that we met
Really Good
Nice course in the middle of town. Very nicely laid out. Only the fella at the pro shop can be more accommodating and smile more often lol.
Very good town course
Very friendly staff.Fantastic value for money.I was paired with 3 other golfers.Course in good condition for February.Greens were very true and quite fast.Would recommend as a pleasant round.Nice variety of holes.I would play again.
For the time of year the course played well. 2 temp greens which were poor but you understood with very wet greens. Pro was helpful and friendly and will go back in the summer.
KGC gold
Hidden in the middle of Northampton a course you should play. A great assortment of challenges all round ,the course in excellent condition. Celebrating in the 19th.
Great considering the weather we’d had
Course was in great condition considering the weather we had had, well maintained and looked after, some trick and challenging holes along with some beautiful open fairways, greens were quite frustrating and hard to read at time, however having spoken to a local at the 14 he advised when putting to aim for the church spire where you could see it, which was an absolute game changed and followed with four 1 putts one of which from over 15 foot out. Great course will certainly return, my only feedback would be the amenities could be slightly better for food etc.
Poor customer service
The guy in the shop/reception was a melt. Patronising and rude beyond belief on arrival and put a dampener on the whole day. Looks like this is reflected in other reviews too.
Course in good condition for time of year. Very quiet though.
Kingsthorpe…. Fit for a King
Played this course on a frosty winter morning. A real treat to play. The course stood up well to the harsh conditions of winter and presented many good challenges and opportunities in equal measure. I would happily recommend this course.
