Shamrock Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2019Fun family owned golf course
Played on a cold damp Sunday morning. There were only a few cars in the parking lot, but having the place to ourselves was kinda nice.
Well kept tee boxes and even with the record rainfall we have encountered the course was very playable. It is an interesting routing with plenty of challenges (water hazards, sand traps and uneven lies).
Our golf watches did not recognize that they flipped the front nine and back nine. Also the flagsticks did not have reflectors on the tips so hand held laser did not easily pick up the flags. The greens were also a bit blotchy... but for the price we paid it was a very enjoyable round.
You can definitely tell this is a well maintained and Family owned golf course.
Kudos to the family for a super clean rustic clubhouse, nicely maintained golf carts and well kept golf course.
Thanks for the fun round... we will be back.
Pebblewood Country Club
Played On 04/07/2019OK - but wet the day we played
We played on a sunny calm Sunday morning. The entire golf course was extremely wet and very soft in places. Had a roster tail of water on every putt (even the 18th green).
The balls would plug in the fairways.
Not why it was so wet, I have played the course several times in the past and did not encounter these types of conditions.
All that being said, it still is somewhat challenging course and you need to be super accurate with your irons to hit the very small greens.
I think this is one of the oldest courses in the area, but its still fun.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 02/02/2019Nice track , one of the best values in Tampa area.
Nice track, very fast greens. Can’t beat the golf now hot deal rate.
Pleasant Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/30/2019Nice family owned track
Was up in the area to see a concert and wanted to grab an inexpensive round before the event.
I played as a single and the nice lady in the pro shop suggested I go off the back. The course overall was in decent shape, not pristine by any means but well kept for a family joint. Greens were super smooth and very speedy, fairways were and tee boxes were ok.
Overall a great place to sneak in a quick round.
Woodbury Golf Course
Played On 10/06/2019Course has potential
We played super early Sunday morning. We were first ones in the parking lot and the lady working clubhouse was super friendly? She told us about course routing and the clubhouse looked recently renovated. That’s the good news.... the not so good news was the course itself. When we played the greens were super furry, I do not think they had been mowed in a week or two. They actually rolled ok and the grass appeared heathy but they were by far the longest greens I have ever played on. The course itself hadn’t been mowed either ... to be fair, they recently received a ton of rain in the past couple of weeks so maybe they just were not able to get out and mow, We literally had to search for balls in the fairway the grass was that long.
We had drove about an hour to get there.... was hoping for a better experience but it just wasn’t in the cards that day,
We joked about maybe this is how they played a couple hundred years ago when goats tended to course conditions.
Probably will not come back there are other options much closer to me.
Shadowood Golf Course
Played On 12/02/2018Nice value for December golf.
We played on a very windy early December day. First day over 60 degrees in a very long time (we drove 3:30 from Michigan to play in warmer weather). When we arrived we were informed of cart path only (which to be expected after a hard freeze and thaw recently).
Pace of play was a little slower than I like due to cart path only and the skill levels of the golfers in front of us were at a beginner level (no fault of course), but we still squeezed in round.
The layout was a little odd in that on several holes the routing went back and forth and on a couple of occasions people from adjoining holes were hitting into same landing area so I wouldn’t be surprised if folks were hit during play from other golfers. As windy as it was today you might not be able to hear “fore” so it felt a little dangerous.
All of the bunkers still had an adaquate amount of rakes (which unusual for many courses in the winter season), the greens rolled very true and the day we played everyone was making sure they did a nice job fixing pitch marks so we still had pleasant round. Tee boxes were also well maintained and in great shape.
I was expecting a more “wide open” course but they fit 18 holes in a fairly small plot of land.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming and even though we bought an online “hot deal” and we felt like they appreciated our business.
Thanks for a nice day of December golf!
Gold at Winding Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/24/2018Hidden gem, a pleasant surprise.
First time playing this well maintained golf course. Really enjoyed our round on A cool damp Sunday morning. The greens were some of the nicest I have putted on this year. Perfect speed and rolled super smooth.
A well struck shot would hold on most greeens.
The staff was super friendly and offered some tips on routing of course. Being our first time here we got to play the blue and white nines. really enjoyed the layout on these courses. Got to hit most of the clubs in our bags. The par 3’s played between 120 and 180yards from the white tees. The par fours varied in length and offered plenty of challenges.
After our round (we played in just under 3hours as a twosome) we asked if we could go out and take a quick tour of the gold 9. We got th ok from the staff to take a quick spin around I and it appeared to be the toughest of the 3nines.
Overall the course was very nice, fun to play, and well maintained. The only suggestion would be to move the tee markers around a bit more on the tee boxes. It appeared they hadn’t been moved for several days and the teeing area was a little muddy and lacking grass from the amount of tee shots that had been hit from the same area.
Other than that, we enjoyed this hidden gem.
Great staff, good value, fun to play.
Thanks for a great day!
Lake Doster Golf Club
Played On 06/01/2018Nice out in the country golf course.
This course is an old school layout. Plenty of hills, doglegs and blind tee shots to challenge both the experienced and novice golfer.
The staff couldn't have been friendlier.
A great value for $28 on hot now deal ( we got an additional 25% off) due to special promotion.
South at Michigan City Municipal Golf Course
Played On 03/25/2018Great bang for the buck
Made last minute reservation on golf now for $10.
It was cold and sunny the day we played with a bit of a breeze. The course came out of the long winter very well.
The greens had not been cut in quite a while, but they were surprisingly fast.
This is a municipal course that is well kept and fun to play. Their staff is also very friendly so we almost always have a good experience here.
Robson Ranch Golf Club
Played On 02/27/2018Nice value golf course between Phoenix and Tucson.
All of the staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t have asked for a nicer experience.
The day way played it was sunny and pleasant with minimal winds.other than having a couple of “painted fairways” and a tee box under repair it was a never nice course for the price we paid ($32).
Was paired with a gentleman who recently retired and bought a home in the development. The course was fairly straightforward but he played fast and respected the course (repaired pitch marks) which is always nice to see.
Had a great time and we got around in under 3:30.
Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2018Great Tucson Track
One of the most unique courses you will ever play. The front 9 is a typical municipal course layout, but when you get to the back nine it is truly awesome. The back nine is laid out in an old quarry and is one of the most memorable courses I have ever played.
If I could only play one time in Tucson I would pick this course everytime.
Thank you for your 5 star review. We strive to create the best possible golfing experience for our guests. We hope to see you again soon.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 02/24/2018Tough desert golf - if you want fast greens this is your place
Played on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. This course is fair off the tee's but be careful you play the correct tee. The course plays so firm that what you think is a good tee shot ends up in a bunker or the desert because how it was set up. Greens did not hold well struck shots and would bounce off the back.
The pins when we played were tucked in difficult locations and in some cases if you had a downhill putt and it goes past the hole it would roll off the green.
This course easily plays 10 shots harder than your handicap. I normally shoot high eighties to low nineties, I was triple digits by 15th hole.
Not sure we will be back, there are other courses in the area that are groomed just as nice for a better value and overall experience.
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club
Played On 02/23/2018Great fun - great value for Phoenix area
Great golf course, friendly staff, fun layout.
One of the best values in Phoenix area, there are other courses that charge twice as much and this just as much fun to play.
It is a little drive from the airport (45 minutes), but it was worth the drive.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 01/29/2018What a great find
This is one of the best I have played in the Tampa, St. Petersburg Area. There are others that I payed twice the price for half the value.
The course overall is very fair, played from the proper tee for my abilities and had a blast. There are some really cool risk reward par 4's with one being drive-able with fairly generous landing areas.
Tee boxes and greens were perfect. The evening before I played the area had received 3 1/2 inches of rain, which made it cart path only but it was still very playable.
From the front desk clerk to the starter and ranger couldn't have asked for a better customer service and friendliness.
When ever I am in the Tampa area, I would play this course above all others I have played. There was plenty of wild-life. Saw birds, squirrels, a curious raccoon, and a gator. The course was built with houses by the course but they do not come in play and are very nice and there must be a good HOA because they all were well maintained.
Great people, great conditioning, great job.
Thanks again for a wonderful day!
The Woodlands Course at Whittaker
Played On 10/19/2017A bit of a dissappointment
I booked my tee time via golf now and I thought it was a good deal. Here is the rub, when we arrived we were told by the golf cart attendant that we would only be able to play the front 9. Since it was prepaid through golf now there really wasn't much we could do, when I went to the pro shop the attendant said in a little bit of a sarcastic tone, I guess you heard the good news and informed me that the back nine was closed due to course reconditioning meaning they were busy aireating the greens. I understand that to keep a course healthy this is necessary. Most courses actually will close for a day or two, but they decided they would rather stay open and collect revenue for a less than desirable experience.
The front that we did play twice was not what I expected for the price we paid. The greens had been punched, but not sanded so putting was impossible.
I wish I would have known prior to purchase that we were not getting the deal we thought we were, we will not be back for any price.
They could have offered a rain check, I did not ask for one because I had already made up my mind that I would not go back and play. When you play a high $ course you expect a better experience. The cart guy was super friendly so he was the only good thing I can say about our experience.
Diamond Springs Golf Course
Played On 09/01/2017Very nice layout, in really good shape.
Nice course, facilities and staff. You cannot find a better value in the area. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth the drive. A true woodland course with nothing but trees water and grass.
Can't beat it.
Clearbrook Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2017Nice park land style golf course
Very nice old school gold course. Tight fairways with postage stamp greens. Course is very well kept. Sand traps are raked and greens were receptive and rolled well. Hats off to the greenskeeper and his staff. This course is tight and do not expect to score well if you are not accurate with both tee and approach shots. The grass is very lush around the greens.
Tee boxes are well kept and the ladies tees are fair as well.
The staff couldn't have been nicer, bring your best game and you will have a great time.
Thanks for the 4 star review. I will pass on your comments to our superintendent. We look forward to having you back at Clearbrook.
The Medalist Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2017Great track - will play again
Very nice course. It is located off the beaten path but well worth the drive.
Tee Boxes and greens were immaculate. A well struck shot would hit and hold the green.
Fairways were also very nice. Not to soft, not to firm, just right.
They have a very nice patio which overlooks the 18th hole. We ate out on the deck after our round and food was great, solid portion sizes and everything came out as ordered. The menu is extensive so everyone could find something to enjoy.
It is in my top 10 Michigan golf courses.
Dear golfdealseeker, We are glad that you enjoyed our facility and appreciate that you took the time to comment.Hopefully we can be of service to you again in the future.
White/Red at Eastern Hills Municipal Golf Club
Played On 05/21/2017Nice surprise
I have driven past this course several times and have always wanted to try it. We drove about an hour to get there and it had just finished raining.
One of the staff went in back and brought out a dry cart so we loaded up and hit the first tee.
We were first off after the storm and we were able to get around the course in a little under 3 hours. The greens were in very good shape, they rolled true and it is apparently the golfers who normally play there fix there divots and pitch marks. The traps were in decent shape (with the exception of a couple of puddles due to the heavy rain).
The course is fairly open and and you can see any trouble off the tee so it is fun to play.
Overall a very nice experience, will play here again.
The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 04/09/2017You better be on your game when you play this track.
This is course that was designed through a time share / condo complex. Almost all of the holes are either bordered by condo's, thick Florida scrub (bushes, cypress, and pine trees). You really need to be on your game and if it is a windy day you need to be able to flight the ball down and have really good control of your iron game. Many of the greens are guarded by either ponds or sand traps.
While this is a straightforward golf course it is one of the toughest I've played in the Orlando area. We did see a small gator in one of the ponds, which is kinda cool. One of my approach shots ended up a bit short and rolled back into the water surrounding the green, saw a gator quickly swim to the ball. I assume he thought it might be dinner. It did give me new respect on not to go after a golf ball when it rolls into a pond. This alligator swam much faster than I know I can move.
Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Not sure if I would play again, very difficult course and there are other courses in the area that are better suited to my style of play. Normally I shoot in the mid to high eighties and I carded a 3 digit score on this tight track.
Hi, thank you for the five stars! We are glad to hear that you had a good time at Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club. We'll see you again soon.
