The Groves Golf and Country Club
Played On 3/1/2013This should be listed as an executive course.
This was a nice short track tucked in a retirement community. It plays to a par of 65, and is a nice warm up course if you are looking to play 36 in one day.
The golf course was in very nice condition the greens rolled smooth and fast. The sand traps were raked and played consistent.. They had a small bar and kitchen. We we ordered some breakfast sandwiches at the turn and they were very tasty.
What the course lacked in length was made up by the friendly staff. While not quite an executive course, it isn't really a full length course either.
It is nice track for the money, but I would not drive out of my way or put this on a "must play" list.
The Ravines Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2012Great track for the price we payed.
We played a late fall round and fully enjoyed ourselves. The greens had been punched (with the needle sized holes) and still rolled very nicely. No issues with leaves.
We had a beautiful Michigan fall day with temps in the lower 50's which might have kept away the crowds. There were probably only 20 people out on the course and never ran into another group (We played in just under 3 hours).
A great track, they have 4 different tee boxes and had nice sized fairways and greens. There is plenty of sand to protect landing areas and greens, however being a high end course the traps are well maintained and easy to get out of.
I would highly recommend this course to others, one of the best in southwest Michigan. If you have played Hawkshead or Harbor Shores and liked them, you will love this course.
Beeches Golf Club
Played On 9/30/2012A nice course for the price.
We played on a Saturday morning... a beautiful day. Course was in decent shape. The course is aptly named beaches as there is sand galore on the front nine. The fairways are generous, but if you spray the ball it will be a long day for you.
Heritage Glen Golf Club
Played On 9/29/2012Nice track
We played last weekend and the leaves had just started to turn colors. The vistas with all of the hardwood trees on the course along with temperatures in the low 70's made it an ideal fall day for golf. This course was fair and firm. Greens rolled very nicely as well.
They had a nice full service bar along with hot dogs and brats at the turn. There was also a beverage cart on the course with a nice attendant that made sure we were hydrated during our round.
A nice find... we drove 40 minutes to play it and it was well worth the drive.
The Woodlands Course at Whittaker
Played On 8/26/2012If you like to draw the ball this course is for you.
I arrived a little earlier than the tee time I had purchased. Since the course was not too busy we were able to tee off a bit earlier than our tee time. Given the extremely dry summer we had this year the course was in above average conditions. The greens rolled very nice and were fast, but not too fast.
I enjoyed the round and for the price we paid I thought it was a good value.
