Nice greens
Great layout and fun course to play. Greens are in great shape, but the tee boxes need some TLC. The pace of play was good, but it was also a slow day due to the course being cart path only. The course was soggy from the previous days of rain. The course doesn’t seem to have much of a drainage system (very soggy)
Great Course
Can't go wrong playing Stoney Point. Great course and pro is always accommodating, I booked an on-line tee time for 2/3/22 and got a GolfNow message that said the tee time wasn't available anymore, but my card was charged and it showed I booked it in the "Activity" window on GolfNow. I called Stoney Point Pro shop to see if he had the time on the sheet and it wasn't there. Pro said no problem and he added me to the sheet and honored the GolfNow fees.
Off the beaten path
Worth the excursion out of the way. Only one hole actually on Lake Greenwood. I enjoyed my visit and will return. Probably not a good choice during August however.
Great shape and beautiful
Great shape and beautiful … if I am ever back in Greenwood, I will play again
Beautiful course.
This is a beautiful course on the lake. Very well kept up, with nice putting greens, and beautiful fairways. I absolutely recommend playing the links at stoney point if you haven't already.
Good course
Narrow fairways. Not a flat spot on any green. Lots of undulations. Green rolling about a 8 on stimp meter. Good course for the money.
Very tight fairways
I played here for a practice round and again for a stroke play event. It’s not my type of course because of the many narrow fairways. That’s not a knock on the course as a business. For some, the tight fairways probably suits them. I just tend to prefer courses where I can use my driver more instead of hitting hybrid almost every hole. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros
- Good course conditions. Tees, fairways, greens and even bunkers very well maintained. Green speeds aren’t quite as fast as some reviews suggest. Probably around 10 on Stimpmeter. There are many greens with undulations though
- Great practice areas
- Great amenities. The outdoor patio and TV were nice touches.
Cons
- Tight fairways. I could only hit my driver on 1, 2, 10 and 15. It’s not fun being always forced to lay up with a hybrid and hit 7 iron when normally I hit driver and wedge on most holes. No. 8 was especially claustrophobic. From the blues I had to hit hybrid-hybrid. 3-wood was too much Club off the tee
- Pace of play was kind of slow on the back. Had to cut my round short. In fairness they were having their club championship so there were carts all over the place
