Great course - no marshal
The course was great. We played Earl Fry around 4:30pm and there was barely any wait. Unfortunately, somehow a 2-some got in front of us on hole 8 and from then on our round was completely screwed. If anything this place is too friendly to its patrons. They need a marshal (a guy on a cart) to go around making sure everyone is keeping up etc. This is the second time it happened and we are considering playing somewhere else just so I can actually complete a round for once.
greens yes, fairways no
A great day for putting. Greens in great shape and holding the line. The fairways? Well, the "bump" rule was in play. Lift and find a better patch of turf to hit from. There are way too many areas on the fairways that shoud be labeled "area under repair". But, for the $26 (including cart) from Golfnow, I can't complain. It was a great practice round with great weather.
The course has some holes that you have to play position golf
I like the Earl Fry course because of the different type if shots you need to make versus the Jack Clark course
Always fun to play
Fairways and tees require some maintenance as there are a quite a few rough spots. Greens are in good condition. As always course is fun to play you can really score well if your game is on.
Over booked
Was complelety over booked only played 15 holes after the third hole 15 minute wait at each tee box and not well marshaled. At all
Course is in poor repair and the ponds really smell bad
The staff are wonderful people. The course has been neglected however; ponds are solid green and smell horrible when one is down wind, fairways and cart paths are very lumpy, fairways are not in good condition. I would not recommend this course.
Great muni close to SF
The fairways are a bit of a goat pasture but the greens are in great shape and reasonably fast. Impressive for a cheap muni and very accessible with 36 holes.
It's a short trip from SF and usually warmer weather.
overall a good value..nice dog legs...water hazzardss...
Several of the holes were unreasonable to reach for an average golfer in reglulation.... no one on the course regulating play and it became very slow.
Earl Fry Golf Course
Playing from the white tees at 5700 yards and a 116 slope made for a very relaxing and enjoyable day of golf, great for posting a decent score for anyone. Tee boxes are ok, fairways are ok, but golf cart paths are rough and bumpby, greens are good sized and medium fast (but very consistent) and ALL courses should have red, white and blue pin positioning flags like this course. Cafe has good food and rest rooms were clean and well maintained. Staff were very nice and friendly.
terribly frustrating slow pace of play and tee boxes as well as fairways (on the Earl Fry) course badly in need of work.
I have been playing golf for 55 years. It is a grand sport, and a true gentleman's game.
Nothing is more disappointing to me than golfers who have no awareness that there are others on the course; who ignore even the most basic rules of golf etiquette; and who turn what should be an enjoyable four hours into a 5+ hour nightmare of a "good walk spoiled."
Combine this with a managment company that just flat out refuses to marshall the pace of play, and you have a course that I believe stays in business solely because demand for tee times n the Bay Area is so extraordinary.
Moreover, the Earl Fry track is a mess, with hacked up tee boxes and fairway after fairway that have bald spots and patches of dirt.
I am an Alameda resident, and avid golfer, a raving fan of the game (who plays at the Bridges, Hiddenbrooke, Monarch Bay, Eagle Vines, and Chardonnay). I am dismayed that the folks at this course disrespect the multitude of us who certainly have a right to play a course that is well maintained and responsibly managed. Shame on you!
Very good course it's been around since the 20's I like the maturity of the course and it's serene aura
Very good course easy to get around walking the staff is nice the new management is great the restaurant has great food and good service the bar is good too great place for kids junior golfers the place has a nice comfortable feel relaxed old school golf complex.
Friendly layout for all levels of play, especially novices/beginners
Average muni course, great for family outings and beginners
An enjoyable golf experience at a great price.
I haven't been to Chuch Corica in years, but I definately plan to return more often.
Starting in the pro shop the counter staff and starter were very friendly and welcoming. Which set a nice mood to begin the round.
We rode the cart since it was included in the Golf Now offer, but it's a really walker friendly layout. Water comes into play on may holes, but in contrast to other courses we play there didn't seem to be as many bunkers.
The greens were in good condition, and not that many ball marks left unrepaired.
We had a 12:30 start time, and finished easily in four hours.
I am recommending the jack Fry course not the other course.
Jack Fry course was in great sharp. The greens were in excellent sharp for a public course.
Good Muni
The layout for the new practice range looks great, can't wait for construction to begin....
fun layout, good value
Conditions were good, but pace of play was a bit slow and the staff was not particularly friendly.
decent course if you can get a deal
Good course if you can get a deal, at only 6000 yds from the tips it is a little short, greens are nice. It was wet that day and had been raining for sometime the week before so they get a pass on the fairways. overall a good experience...I shot a 79, so can't complain
OK deal for an OK golf course.
There was a frost delay and it was cold, but it still was pretty fun.
