Well worth it
We played Coyote Crossing for the first time this year, and I was so impressed with the course. I really enjoyed the staff, the accommodations and practice facility. Greens were in great shape, and the sand was also very playable. Groundskeepers are doing a wonderful job maintaining the course. Picturesque especially for being in a neighborhood. This course rivals Kampen or Ackerman in the price range.
Awesome, everything just awesome.
1st time playing Coyote Crossing and even though it’s a 2hrs+ drive it was well worth it! We had vouchers for free play with carts and range balls and everyone was extremely accommodating from the pro shop to the starter and all others we encountered. I wish my area had a club this nice, it would be packed. Course layout was an excellent mix of holes, distances and severity. We played the middle tees which were perfect for us (mid-teens hcp). There are 5 sets of tees for all levels of players. Played in 4 1/4hrs which was a very enjoyable pace considering it was our 1st time. Course was well marked. The creek meandering throughout the course made you think your way around the course.
Bunkers were large but very playable.
Green were large and rolled extremely well and true.
An true gem for central Indiana. We will be back.
Pace: full tee sheet, and things moved as such. Had a 10+ minute wait on some tee boxes/fairways, but other times things moved fine.
Conditions: tee boxes were being aerated and some construction on back 9. Good signs to me about future rounds here. Greens had a lot of ball marks... but that's on us golfers as much as it is the course (fix your ball marks).
Staff: friendly and helpful. Seemed genuinely concerned about golfers enjoying their experience.
Value: maybe priced a bit high, but given the conditions and staff it's not unreasonable.
Layout: my own bias goes against layouts where each hole exists "by itself." It feels more like you're playing 18 individual holes rather than a course. That being said, I thought the holes were challenging without being overwhelming.
Great Course
Always try to get here at least once a golf season! Great layout!
Very nice course but some things need attention.
This is a nice course and in very good condition. The only thing disturbing about the course itself was the abundance of ball marks on the greens. It seems like I rarely had a put that I did not have to repair several marks along my line. Even the marks that had been repaired seemed like they were not filling in with new grass.
One other mention was the condition of the mens restroom on the course....it was filthy. Mentioned it to kid in pro shop and he said "we know"....so why wasn't something being done about it?
Tournament Course Shape
Played this wonderful course on the north side of West Lafayette, IN (2 hours south of Chicago, 1 hour north of Indianapolis).
The course is wonderfully manicured and a layout that has one thinking on some holes and just hit the ball hard on other holes. Great collection of Par 3 holes with 3 of them needing to cross a creek to reach the green. Par 5 holes have probably at least 2 of the 4 wanting to go for the green in 2 shots.
Our family played from 2 sets of tees, 2 of us played from tees at 6,400 yards and found this to be very playable is you carry the ball at least 215 yards with the driver. My wife found the forward tees very playable and she drives it about 160 to 180 on average.
To score, it is all about the green complexes and these are difficult. There are false fronts, nice approach aprons where one can use the putter, fast & true greens, and more breaking putts that normal.
I would highly recommend playing Coyote Crossing!
Covid Restriction Golf
Drove 2 hrs from IL (courses closed) to play in the Hoosier state. Lots of IL plates in the lot. No club or restroom access so think ahead.. everyone was practicing social distancing, even on the practice green. This is a high quality daily fee course situated in an upscale housing development but at a very reasonable green fee. The course layout is interesting and fun. Some forced carries from the tee were challenging. Pick the right tees for your game or you’ll be frustrated. There are elevation changes which made walking the course tough. Bent grass fairways allow for some roll off the tee. Greed hold well. Speed was slower than they looked. Overall though the Superintendent has done great work for this early in the season. Was worth the drive.
Fun, Tight Course
The course has a lot of elevation change, and is fairly tight throughout. I found the GPS in the cart and on my phone disagreed a lot, to the tune of 20 yards sometimes, which made things confusing sometimes. But the layout is great - it's a position course in many places, though you need to/can bomb it in others. Greens are large, receptive and not overly tricked up. There are streams and ponds waiting for stray shots. Irwin likes to keep nature as is on his courses, and this one is no exception. There were some patches on fringes and greens, but overall it was in good shape for October. It's well worth the trip if you're from the Lafayette area, or passing though on I-65.
Great Value
Great service and value. Will do it again soon. Perfect conditions.
Very challenging!
Really enjoyed the layout, played the black tees at 6,800 yards. Nice variety on par 4's, long but receptive par 3's (longest at 225 yards, shortest at 160), and the par 5's had decent length but weren't too difficult. Greens were a little slow the day I played, I'd like to play them after being cut and rolled. All in all a really good golf course and would recommend it to anyone.
Great course
Really nice course. God on the carts takes getting used to if you've never been there before, you can get into restricted areas under full power then are stuck trying to get out of the way. Beautiful layout and landscaping.
A must play
Course is always in great shape. It is well worth the drive from Indy
Great Course!!
Played here today, first time, course was in great shape and would definitely come back, even though over an hour from home, worth the trip, great and friendly staff made experience a great one!
Very Nice Course
Fun course and great for groups or outings.
Best Golf Course in Town
COYOTE CROSSING is a beautiful golf course in west Lafayette Andy have to play it. Course is in great condition, amazing service, great patio to have drinks and overlook the course. This is defiantly THE place to golf in west Lafayette.
Beautiful Course
This is truly the most well-kept course in the area. Getting across the creek is a challenge on many holes but that's what makes this course so beautiful !
