A little disappointed
This was an overall pleasant experience where the facilities are concerned and I can see why moderate level golfers would enjoy the course....... that being said, This is not a "destination" golf course. The shot values are only so-so. The property the course sits on is average. I had an early morning tee time and the pro shop staff was extremely late arriving to work......so much so that a kid working the carts had to get us started that day. While I appreciate the course maintenance, my round was also routinely interrupted by the mowing staff that was "more" concerned about their mowing than my playing. Based on the reviews I would have thought this was an amazing property with amazing shot values, etc. ......not the case.
Very Nice course
Played it on Saturday 6/11 through Golf Now. Very good price for this course. It was really nice being only 3 miles from Lake Michigan as is was quite a bit cooler than inland location. We would play this course again.

always great course
Course in great shape this late in the year. Greens had already been plugged but weren't horrible. Staff very friendly. Homes along course are very upscale. Played in 40 mph wind gusts so it was quite challenging on some holes.GPS showed water next to green on a few holes and it actually ran in front of green a bit. Definitely will play again.

Lots of Water
Beautiful, moderately difficult, and well maintained course. Lots of water and par 4s play long from the tips. Only two of us, but we played behind a foursome the entirety of the round. They had no one in front but didnt let us play through, so this really the only complaint i could conjure up.

Beautiful course and very fun to play
Overall it is a great course and a challenging one at that. The greens are fast and the fairways tend to have a lot of roll to them.

Nice experience
Course was in very nice condition. Greens were equal to many country clubs. I played alone in less than 3 hours, which was nice. Will definitely return.

Nice links style course
Nice links style course in great condition. Tough but fair, fast greens. Lots of trouble including water and bunkers. Classy clubhouse. Highly recommended.

Fast greens, fun times
Macatawa Legends is a great comeback story. There were plenty of rumors that the relatively flat course was being shuttered during the height of the recession, but it never did, according to former GM and course designer Ray Hearn, who I met for lunch after my round. The course was bustling with golfers the day I played. The greens were lightning fast. And the neighborhood appeared to be filling in nicely with homes that, thankfully, don't intrude on the round. Hearn played it relatively straightforward with wide fairways bordered by thick fescue. Water intrudes on all four of his par 5s. His finishing holes, the tough par-4 ninth and par-5 18th, run on either side of a pond. Macatawa Legends survived for a reason. It's a real asset to Holland, one of west Michigan's great summer lake towns.

Great course
This course is extremely well maintained and very user friendly. Wide fairways and big greens make it feel like you can spray the ball a bit but still find it. The greens are very very nice and protect par for the course. They are smooth and really fast yet hold iron shots if well struck. One of the nicest courses in the area!

Fantastic Course and Experience
First time playing here and will be back. Course was in fantastic shape and the greens were fast. Staff was nice and food was good. Also liked the GPS on the carts.
