Actively improving
At first glance, you might miss the course off of the road, and it looks like it has seen better days. That being said, the staff were some of the most friendly and open that I have ever met at a course, and the other players on our day were friendly, helpful, and good for cross banter. The greens are being worked on and improved, as hole 8 has a temporary green up while the established green is being overhauled and the surrounding trees being trimmed and kept up. The back nine has one of the prettiest holes that I have seen, but being winter time, the weather is taking its toll, but they have seeded the greens for spring and it looks like it will be much improved.
I am looking forward to going up and playing many more times!
Mace Meadows needs a makeover
First time playing the course, and I had difficulty finding the entry as I discovered on the way out of the parking lot, that the sign for the golf course was not facing the street but propped against a tree.
The course itself was very dry, which is to be expected at this time of year but really dry. Goose droppings cover 3-4 greens. Green conditions were unputtable in places. Directions around the course was at times confusing to say the least. I finished the 6th hole and proceeded to what aesthetics should have been the 7th tee, but was actually the 9th. I later found a small sign with small text pointing to the 7th tee. Two other groups playing that day has similar issues. The guys running the place are very friendly, but the course needs maintenance. I’d only play there again under its current conditions if the price to play was $20.00
Worst course conditions I've ever played on.
Course was in horrendous condition, I know its summer but for $40 a person I expect more. Sand traps basically were overgrown weeds, greens should be called browns and the tee boxes were dried sand traps with patches of dead grass.
Worst Golf Course of the year!!!
I’ve played over 50 rounds of golf this year, all over Northern Ca. This without question was the worst golf course I’ve played. Tee boxes were mostly dirt and weeds, fairways were overgrown with patches of dirt and weeds everywhere, bunkers had zero sand (mostly dirt) again filled with weeds, lastly just about every green had major dead spots of dirt and sand throughout....needless to say extremely disappointed after more than a hour drive away!!!! Never again
JUST REOPENED
This course is at an altitude that snow affects play part of the year. They opened the back 9 a few weeks ago, but just opened the front. They haven't been able to do much grooming of the fairways on the front and have done nothing to create an intermediate rough. Therefore anything off of the fairways or greens is into lost ball territory. Once properly groomed, it will be a very scenic mountain course.
Don’t go there now
Front nine closed. Back nine pin cup holder is half way out ( all 9 holes). Terrible condition now
Can’t distinguish between fairway and rough
I don’t understand why they are open now
I went to play then quit after 2 holes
Horrible
Horrible conditions played it many years ago and it was in fine shape then. Wouldn’t recommend
This course needs a lots of works.Tee areas are a mess . Grass is too tall to TeeOff. Most of the greens are burned.
Is getting better evertime
Have been playing this course for almost 25 years. Was shut down for a few years and now is coming back. The greens can be long from time to time and are almost completely filled in. Lots of great staff and members putting in the elbow grease to bring it back to a 5 star course. Keep your eye out for tournaments as you'll never regret playing here.
Coming along nicely
Front side is closed but from the looks of it should be open in a week or two than the back 9 will close for repair. Greens on the back are a tad furry but they sprayed a fungiside and we planning on mowing within the next day or so, otherwise they were really nice. Fairways and rough have come along ways but will look even better after they close and seed, the front side looked beautiful and cant wait to play it. Only complaint would be the lack of clean tee pads, just need them mowed a bit more but other than that definitely worth it.
Getting better
I live in Pioneer so you can say this is my home course. I am happy that the course has been bought by people that want nothing more than to bring the course to its former greatness. I can not recommend playing here yet. Greens are on a scale of 1 to 10 a 3 fairways on the same scale a 3 as well.
The positive is the course is open. It is improving daily.
My thought is since the track is basically nothing more than a cow pasture at this point they would do much better to lower prices to increase play and revenue so that the course can continue to improve. Instead of trying to market as a nice mountain course. Apple hill is at around the same elevation and just destroys this course as far as condition not to mention the Tahoe tracks.
Great Course!!!
Played a round a couple weeks ago and then today. Course is much improve. The were able to mow because it wasn't as wet. Beautiful country! Just lovely views. Course is still a little rough on the back nine but getting better. We love it here!.
Beautiful coarse
This is God’s country if you can’t enjoy this golf coarse with its surroundings then I’m not sure what to say
Beautiful area
Very disapointed
The tee boxes were over grown so much it was like hitting out of the ruff when teeing off. The fairways were also overgrown so much that you couldn't tell the difference from ruff and fairway. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Mace meadows golf course
Played the rejuvenated course after it was closed down for awhile. unfortunately the water supply has been broken for 10 days due to a broken water manifold, which was being repaired.
that said" the Greens were PERFECT and the immediate area around them were very good.
But the hard fairways and uneven Tee boxes were bad.
