First time playing Settlers Ghost and unfortunately a very cold day. Look forward to trying again in the Spring 2021'
Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Cheers
Final round
Probably last round of the year, course was in great shape, staff were as friendly as ever, look forward to seeing everyone next year ( Covid free I hope)!
Immaculate condition
We had to leave after 6 holes due to a tornado warning.
Friendly Gem of a Course
My enjoyable experience @ Settlers Ghost started with a friendly visit to the starter, who happily, and professionally, got everyone on their way.( despite the pressures of a company tournament also occurring that day !!!
I noticed the demographic of the golfers...sons taking their Moms, Dads ( old & young sharing a day out.with family/friends....I never saw one disgruntled group due to the friendliness, pace of play, well maintained course, and the very fair price of this gem of a course ( try finding that at Glen Abbey on a Saturday ...lol!!!).Everyonei I talked to seemed to play there regularly, and lent helpful advice to this Ghost newbie. ..and at the end of the round, the young man at the pro shop ran out to the parking lot to return my phone I had left in the cart...awesome service !!!!
The course was challenging, well laid out ( easy to find the next hole), and I definitely cant wait to golf at this professionally run, but also home town charming gem of a course...thank you Settlers Ghost...it was definitely worth the long journey !!!!
Favourite course in the area
Beautiful fall day, and understandably course was full. Walking helped keep the late afternoon chill out. Fall colours were still spectacular on many holes.
Always a treat here. Staff are very friendly/helpful.
Have to think/manage your way around the course....
Disorganized and rude
This season has been an adjustment for staff and golfers alike. A little kindness goes a long way. That being said, I’m not going to be scolded like a child by a grumpy Marshall for following the instructions of the pro shop. I checked in at the shop and was given the thumbs up to grab any cart and go. At the first tee an ornery old fellow (Doug) grilled me as to whether or not I checked in with the starter. Apparently I was to stop at an unmarked pop up tent in the parking lot. Go back and check in! I drive back to the tent and a very confused woman was trying to figure out names and times. I give her my name and she says I can go. There has been enough COVID golf to put up signage and figure out how to direct traffic. Budget course with budget staff. Let’s see how long this new ownership lasts.
Gotten worse
Course conditions were good as always but very disappointed in the fescue being cut down everywhere. It is just rough now between fairways and makes this course play very easy. Many driveable par 4s and easily reachable par 5s without the danger of missing fairways. Many blind tee shots combined with now wide open layout also makes it a dangerous place as it is very easy to hit into groups in front of you. Likely won't be back.
Nice course
Good layout, and the course is in great condition, green rolls fast and true.
Settlers Ghost
The course was thatching the fairways that day as well as they had aerated the greens earlier that week. They could have posted this info during the booking.
Otherwise, the course was in good condition and was good value.
Nice fall day for golf
Enjoyed our round at Settlers Ghost. Staff very friendly and The course was in excellent condition. Also recommend the restaurant at the course.
Maintenance
Some maintenance going on which Is EXPECTED at this time of year. Aeration, top dressing and verticutting ... but these are required to keep things in top shape. If you play a lot you will run into these especially in the fall. Always a good play to play.
Disappointed in the fact the course alert did not explain the back nine was closed due to aeration. Overall course condition was great. Staff friendly and understanding.
